Miss Brazil ganhou pela torcida, mas na entrevista foi decepcionante, nao merecia ter ganho, pela logica pelo fator peso na questao final era para ter ganho a Curaçao. Mas foi epoca bonitas mulheres natural.
For those who don't know why miss Brazil couldn't answer the final question. Apparently her father didn't want her to compete in any Miss pageant, at that time her father should authorize her to travel to the pageant and he didn't want to let her go, it seems he was only authorizing her to travel to compete the day before the contest, or something like that. She went to compete in Miss Universe with no intention of winning, but as she progressed, she became more and more nervous about her father. It seems that after winning the pageant she can't remember what her coronation was like because of all the nervousness she felt. Maybe the jurors knew about it, researched it.

NEVER will there be another Brazilian MsU after Martha Vasconcellos was made the winner‼️ There’s even no guarantee the CURSE bestowed upon her would be lifted even after her death. CURACAO should’ve been the outright winner in 1968. HELL hath no fury when the choice of who’s the rightful winner was NOT done right. JMHO.
It was BRAZENLY obvious that Miss Brasil was the worst contestant of the 5 finalist because of her inability to articulate a response to Bob Barker. Of course, she was overwhelmed & anxious and that's understandable, but not acceptable from what the female moderator explained. Miss Universe, will be expected to be cool, calm and collected, as she will be answering questions from reporters and doing various public speaking engagements. In my opinion, Miss Curacao was the best candidate of the 5. Even the other 2, especially, Miss USA and Miss Venezuela communicated well. How the hell did they select Miss Brazil? They again, this was Miami, Florida, back in 1968. I'm shocked & amazed that they allow a black woman, as regal as she was, to be in the competition, let alone in the top 5 and to be the 1st runner-up. So, go figure!
If you played this competition back and ask people to score and rejudge, there is NO way miss Brazil would have won. miss curaçao was the standout in swimsuit and BOTH question and answer sessions. No way she should have even been too 3!

I can't believe Brazil won having been unable to answer her questions. Pretty face but it wasn't even the best face in the top 5. My winner would have been Curaçao. Her personality and self-confidence was impressive. The best face for me was that of the Venezuelan. I liked her personality and how she risked listening and answering her question in English despite only knowing basic English. Those two would have been my queen and 1st runner up. Then USA, Brazil because of her face nothing more and because the other blonde didn't stand out much either. A very strange result I must say
Miss Brazil answer was "I CAN NOT SPEAK" , translation "I am DUMB, I AM SO BEAUTIFUL but I CAN NOT SPEAK", hahaha, just kidding, Miss Curacao was ahead of her time, she was the most Charismatic girl from all the Miss Universe until that day she competed. Smart, fun, Natural, Pretty, Charismatic, I mean a real Miss Universe.
Bob Barker was a great host for the Miss USA and the Miss Universe Pageant s for some 20 years !! Til he did the last in 1987 he quit. But with Miss Universe he really did well with all the young ladies even those who spoke no English . I started watching the pageants every year in the late 70’s Better in color . B/W was too bland and dull especially evening gown competition and the crowning. It’s interesting to see from so far back as 55 years ago!!
It’s clear that Curaçao pretty much WON this pageant but for some reason the MUO chose Brazil…. Not saying that Brazil did horrible and I get that she felt anxious but she didn’t answer her Final Question accurately, which is pretty much supposed to test out how well a potential Miss Universe would answer questions from the press, media, etc. I’ll never know why Brazil got the crown but at least she didn’t resign halfway through like that one Miss España did a few years later….
