Another good one is when the small team CafeID (from a real cafe) came to EVO for KOF in 2012 and won. They came out of nowhere, basically, and their leader defeated the neigh unbeatable Bala in probably the best KOF grand finals ever, imo.
I remember watching this tourney back in the day the marvel hype train was real and after having seen some of the players Joe defeated perform well in past tourneys I was also pleasantly surprised
This gave birth to my main strategy, spam log traps with Albert Wesker in the lead. Wesker would just use his gun instead of the boomerang, and of course, log trap is being spammed the whole god damn time. As soon as you clip them, and you do clip them, albert's teleport into full combo is always the response. Thank you AgeoJoe!
Fun fact, the TAC infinite glitch and some other glitches that are now used at high level play were 1st discovered/documented by AgeJoe/Kusoru. He uploaded a video on youtube/nico nico explaining them, and that video was submitted to the SRK staf that ran the front page, so they posted an article with the translation. How do I know? I was the one that provided the link to SRK since I followed him for his GG videos and at the time I thought it could be interesting for tech (little did I know it would be the tech, lol), so I contacted d3v on the forums since he was part of the staff/mod team. He is the unsong hero of MVC3, since a lot of the tech that USA us today comes from him, lol.
I remember this. You had to have been there watching when F Champ flips out on the pause screen. At the time he was like a villain in a sense and to see him get his comeuppance was insane
This match changed Marvel 3 from then on, before this only like the hardcore circles in SRK and certain niches knew about killing phoenix before she turned dark, then everybody was trying to figure out setups against phoenix, people literally wouldn't even spend xfactor just so they they could use it against phoenix. The thing I love about this match is how serious FChamp is taking it, AgeoJoe (otherwise known as Kusoru) looked like he was just messing around and having fun.
There's 2 small pieces of information that add some hype to this story: 1) I'm not sure if this is true, but apparently Kusoru tweeted something like "I'm gonna put a hat on the bird lol" before his match vs FChamp. The commentators discovering this after the match added a ton of retroactive excitement 2) PR Balrog started maining Rocket Raccoon shortly after this tournament. People called him "PR Log" instead of "PR Rog" due to the Log Trap assist
Shit, here I thought the channel was super old and I was just missing out, but damn, I can't believe you have only 10vids and have been doing this for just a couple of months. Anyone would think You've been doing this for longer since your vids have amazing editing and the way you tell the fgc stories are really well written and instructive. Congratulations man, really! These vids really make me nostalgic from a time before SFV and MVCI came to ruin things for us
One thing your should've mentioned is how triple jumps reach the height of one super jump. Usually during a super jump you *can not call assists* unless you call them before super jumping, but single/double/triple jumps can still have assist calls during their air time! Been loving your vids by the way. Love the words ya use for matches, it really feels lively~
This is why I respect players like Ageojoe and I heart Justice. Players that stray away from the top tiers and innovate are far better than some knucklehead picking Doom, Magneto, and Phoenix and farting about until they hit lvl 5.
First off great video and break down @papalobster! Eventhough Ageo Joe / Kusoru is the main focus of this video. Rumor is that this win got Ageojoe so many death threats he said he'd never play in America again. To Japan, MvC is an obviously broken game no one would take seriously, so the completely serious hate he got for treating the game like a joke must have been terrifying.

You sir made one of my top three video of the year for me . Your story telling was perfect
Yooo that Frank West roll into xfactor into special on a transforming Phoenix has to be one of the coolest ways to win imo.
I didn't even know they've added to marvel vs Capcom series, so bringing that to my awareness alone is enough for a like!
That frank west anti air vs Phoenix is pure gold ❤️
This is such a good explanation on the technical side of things. Pls keep it up!
i watched this live and it was some of the best sets that i'll never forget
I remember this. You had to have been there watching when F Champ flips out on the pause screen. At the time he was like a villain in a sense and to see him get his comeuppance was insane
I remember watching the stream live and that Frank tech was so sick to see.
Great narration, with good pace too
Watching this in real time was such a ethereal experience. God I love Marvel 😭
There's 2 small pieces of information that add some hype to this story:
1) I'm not sure if this is true, but apparently Kusoru tweeted something like "I'm gonna put a hat on the bird lol" before his match vs FChamp. The commentators discovering this after the match added a ton of retroactive excitement
2) PR Balrog started maining Rocket Raccoon shortly after this tournament. People called him "PR Log" instead of "PR Rog" due to the Log Trap assist
PR Log is one of my favorite teams to play too lol.
Didn't know about the tweet that's so dope!
These vids really make me nostalgic from a time before SFV and MVCI came to ruin things for us
I always show ppl who play UMVC3 the "AgeoJoe vs Fchamp" set and it never fails to blow their minds lol still gives me chills to this day lol
Was waiting for the inevitable Ageojoe vid, thanks.
Ive been watching streams since mvc3
I can’t believe it’s been this long and it was just as epic as it is now
I remember this, its was 10 years ago i think...time pass flying
2012 Mahvel was just insane...Really felt this match changed the course for this game.
I'll never forget his rampage through that bracket! We still talk about his set up against Dark Phoenix
I watched that tournament LIVE! I remember it like it was just a few months ago... XD
Thanks for breaking it down for others though. Good video! =)

I remember watching him play. Very entertaining and a great player.
This was such a well made video! Not a story commonly heard, if at all. You got a new subscriber!
I like how FChamp is always the "villain" like in Wrestling, everyone respects him, but it's awesome when new challengers can beat him.
First off great video and break down @papalobster! Eventhough Ageo Joe / Kusoru is the main focus of this video. He had a lot of help from the entire FRB team and one crazy ass FRB season prior to Final Round that year. It might be time to bring these boys back together for one more pizza party tournament in the land of the rising sun.
Watched about 4 of these after getting 1 recommended. Easy sub - great content 👍🏻
I remember watching this, shit was hype af
He also tried push blocking Phoenix into the trap
Hell yes. Thank you!
I love that Kusoru popped off with a copy of a true kusoge, Sengoku Basara X for the PS2.
Rumor is that this win got Ageojoe so many death threats he said he'd never play in America again. To Japan, MvC is an obviously broken game no one would take seriously, so the completely serious hate he got for treating the game like a joke must have been terrifying.
i'm sad that kusoru never came back to the US, but i understand why. there were a lot of salty folks who hated that a Japanese player beat some of the best US players in "their" game
This was so epic, remember watching the live stream and being hyped!!! 2012 was such a great time for fighting games…the hype was unreal!! Every tournament was a must watch!! I was a stream monster, I would not miss any tournament!
Im surprised you havent done a video on VISCANT
I think his win at evo and how he trained for it is un real
Yeah, I want people to recognize Viscant for more than the stupid LTG match.
The guy is a really smart player
I love the part where PR balrog beats him a game, Viscanr clenched his fist, barely looked a Eduardo and told him "you got lucky there".
Truly some villian vibe, I love it.
Yell (YOU'RE FREE!) to that guy's face...
Fire assessment and storytelling. Beautifully done video-wise.
I still remember when he caught Phoenix with the Frank West super...that was so crazy back then.
Ahhh the old tale of kusoro/ageojoe. One of the greatest fighting game players of all time
I remember watching him during this time...very entertaining
