Oldcastle Great Northern Railway (GNR)

Lovely video.I was born along this railway between Navan and Kells.the Navan to Kells section was built in 1854 and the Kells to Oldcastle section built a few years later,there had been plans to extend it to Ballyjamesduff but that never happened..

Yes last stop was the station in Oldcastle currently oldcastle CoOp

@@Kenprints Yes there was a turntable there to turn the engine around.the last passenger train ran in 1958 and the last goods train ran in1963,after that the tracks were taken up and exported to Nigeria.I traveled on the train to Drogeda.I have a photo of what is believed to be the last passenger train

Thats pretty cool my mother in laws dad worked on that train

@@Kenprints My late father was the Station Master at Ballybeg station from 1932 til the the station closed
