Harrods afternoon tea is from £59 per person.
You can book it in here: www.harrods.com/en-gb/restaur...
You should be able to book only a day ahead. For Saturday bookings I would give it a few days ahead.

      Aunt Beth,
What do you get for your £14? Serious question.
In the older, perhaps better days, Tea was a necessary marketing expense.
Merchants put out as nice a tea as they could manage at a not-off putting
price, meant to reward customers for coming, hoping once fortified and
properly plumped they might actually buy something.
For example, Harrod’s back in the Olde pre-Fayed days offered Afternoon Tea.
It was £5. and it was a dessert buffet with tea included. If there were scones
or finger sandwiches, I do not remember them. What I do remember was an
assortment of twenty or more pastries, cakes and sweets, of which you could
have a serving of any, or all, with seconds.
Coming all the way from the colonies, it was not an everyday treat. So I would skip
Lunch on Harrod’s Tea day in order find the fortitude to leave a serious dent in the
patisserie service after the second or third assault.
Were those the good old days?
      Yes, I believe so.
      Repeated assaults.

Thanks for review. Definitely good to know! We're huge afternoon tea fans in my house ! If you ever come to Dublin, you must review The Westburys Hotel Afternoon Tea. It's situated just off Grafton Street! It's excellent. And served in a really beautiful relaxing lounge, you're not too close to each other, service is amazing, and the selections on offer really good!
What struck me immediately from your video, was the noise and busyness of the room, with the strident piano playing, then being so close to the reception, the tables also very close together, it reminded me of an upscale canteen at a busy train station! I'm sure it's marketed to tourists and relying on the name Harrods! You're quite right, you can find probably much better in the price bracket.
I quite liked afternoon tea at Sketch London, not so much pomp and ceremony and a little different. It was a while since I've been though...
Any roads, I'm rambling. Thank you for your post and happy tea travels!

I have afternoon tea before at a tea party in a women’s house called the Bowery that I stayed. Everything was baked from scratch by one of the ladies, and we bought all kinds of teas.It was priceless. But if I’m in London, Fortnum and Mason is the best place I would go. 😍🇬🇧

Tea at the Goring, the Dorchester, or the Grosvenor hotels is truly amazing. Always make sure you reserve in advance. Walkins are often turned away.

After the surcharges it is L68.50 per person. What is Hrds Still (1). Do they charge L6.50 for a bottle of tap water?

Harrods was once an “exclusive” store but no longer. Now it’s more like a shopping mall with all the usual concessions and a real tourist hot spot. I can’t imagine many places with high prices like Harrods being a less pleasant shopping experience. Can’t comment on the quality of the afternoon tea but totally agree that there are many much better options in London if you want a genuine experience.

That's good to know. I liked shopping at Harrod's online. lol I don't live anywhere near there at all. One can dream, I guess, and have afternoon tea at home. lol

My fancy meal at Harrods was a glass of champagne +oyster 🍾....mama mia. My Holiday 10 days in UK in 2014. And I brought a micro scooter €60 + red angry bird plushy toy €15.

All should try the Sushi restaurant at Dubai airport tax free area.
It's a bit expensive but it's high quality and fresh !
It's served on a moving line from where you can take what you like.
The plate colour tells you what to pay for every specific dish.
Me I loved it and will go again next time I visit Dubai.

Harrods restaurant was called Georgian (as in - of the time of the Kings called George) rather than Gregorian, which is a form of plainsong sung generally by monks.

Interestingly, the Duchess of Bedford needed to combat afternoon slump so she was served caffeine and simple sugars in varied and very tasty forms. Eventually Afternoon Tea became a 4pm ritual in the daily life of the nation, and then later, a high-priced experience in elegant surroundings. Every one of these tea rooms has exquisite ambiance and stellar service.

Actually Harrods ceased to be a genuine Department Store many years ago. Now it’s just 90% fashion concessions not unlike the typical Shopping Mall only 3 times the price. Many of today’s super rich are do fu**ing ignorant and undiscerning they wouldn’t even know genuine quality and when they’re being ripped off, which in reality is no bad thing actually :-)

About 25 years ago I traveled to London to visit a friend and she and I went to Harrod’s for tea. Even then it was pricey but I expected that - it’s Harrods after all. But, I didn’t travel with many dressy clothes and noticed that the host gave me what you would call “the once over” (I believe because I was dressed in jeans). This happened again when he passed our table. 🙄 That is the memory I hold from my experience - can’t even remember how the food tasted. 😂
