I had a 2007 Fusion with a V6. Bought it with 7000 miles and sold it with just shy of 100,000 miles on it. Had 0 problems with it. Just oil changes and a battery. The car had great power and decent fuel economy. My only issue was that the interior door handles felt cheap. They didn't break on me but I was always real careful of them. Loved the car!

You took real good care of that car. It looks great.
I drove a 2006 Fusion SEL V6. I bought it with 72k and drove it until 168k. It was a good car.
The problems I had with it other than regular wear items were:
Trans line failed at 73k (not a big deal)
Right front blinker stayed on, had to pull bulb to keep battery from dying- Ford wanted $750 to fix (yeah right)
Belt pulleys were cheap and were replaced three times
    Throttle body replaced at 100k
Water leak into driver side interior that started around 130k
Cheap interior drivers side door latch broke. Dealer wanted $350 to fix, I fixed it myself for $25
Possible MAF sensor problem developed when it was hard to start the car when temps were in the 40's
    Pros:
    Lots of power for a 3.0 V6
    Excellent stock audio system
    Nice styling
    Considered it a reliable car
6 speed trans shifted very well with only 1 trans flush/filter change at 73k.

I have a 2007 5 speed Fusion with 266,000++ and counting. Has been a brilliant vehicle. Bought it new with 12 miles. Still has original clutch even. Very minimal repairs on mine aside from normal maintenance which I do myself and has always been full synthetic oil Valvoline oil changes every 5,000 miles since oil change number 1. Have also done a couple rounds of full synthetic Amsoil gear lube for the manual transmission gearbox. I’ve not had any wheel bearing issues he mentioned. I got 123k miles out of the last brakes I installed too. Best car I’ve ever owned reliability wise, by far.

2012 SE with the 4 cyl. Got it from Ford used with 80K and it just turned 160k. It's been highly reliable engine wise. Expected wear and tear with a battery replacement, front break job 1x, and tires. But I also had to replace both tie rods, the AC switch and recharge, and just recently, the power steering went at 156k. It's a recall and I took it to the Ford dealership where I bought the car per my mechanic's suggestion. However, Ford then said the recall warranty was only in effect up to 150k (I was 6k over and never received a recall notice) and after spending a day at the dealership service station and then fighting with Ford corporate over the phone for multiple days (which they outsource their customer service, btw - an American company like Ford!!!), and after all that they declined to repair it. It's a defective part regardless of milage according to my mechanic and they should have fixed it (Not to mention I was 1 oil change past the milage limit for the recall repair! The right thing to do was to fix it). Ford said it would cost me $2,500 for them to fix it! After I obviously declined the dealership's offer to rape me, they then had the nerve to charge me a $189 diagnostic fee!!!! I will never buy a Ford again and I was a Ford guy. Btw, my local mechanic fixed it for $950. Still a lot and it's a defect!

I have an 06 with 104K and I have had a few of the problems he's had but not all of them. I have had the valve cover gasket, the battery has been replaced (but I didn't have the PCM problem), both ball joints, and brakes and brake pads. As far as tires go if you put cheap ones on this car (I had Douglas tires from Walmart on it) they DO NOT last long. we've put quite a few tires on it but we've put more expensive tires on it recently and the do last a lot longer. its a great car and I do recommend one to anyone.

Most of the things he mentioned are normal wear and tear. Battery, brake rotors, tires, plugs, etc. The 2006-2012 Fusion is a very reliable car that rides really nice. I have a V6 Milan with 125,000 miles. Time to get a new car, but I hate to part with the Milan. BTW the only thing I've replaced is the battery and tires. I am also thinking about getting an Impala as my next car. My grandparents are on their 3rd one. I know it is more cheaply made than my LeSabres(Impala logo fell off the side of the car and the cruise control stickers on the steering wheel rubbed off). I like that they are big and powerful and can ram through snow drifts on my long commute to work. I have heard my friends say that on theirs you hear a thumping in the dash from the vent door actuators failing every 50,000 miles. Amazingly my Grandparents never had that issue, but they only have 67,000 miles on their 2013 model one. They just did have to replace a front wheel bearing at 67,000 miles and they have the hard press fit ones, so I heard it was a bear cat to replace and they had to use a puller on it.

I have a 2012 Ford Fusion, family had it since new. Nice car (now mine) but it was built on a Friday or Monday (legend has it workers slack off or are hurrying to get job done) Antenna noise on the radio (common issue) Rear oil seal leak (unknown to be common) If going high speed 70ish plus if no one is in passenger front seat it will rattle and make noise. After some time after a warranty repair I noticed groggy noise if low rpm going 41 mph. Ironically another ford has this issue but they said non related because my car does not have AWD. They said flex pipe rattles and it would be that. I bet that got broke when they took engine out for seal replacement. Great car and it is highly rated on consumer reports. I have 2012 and my dad got new version 2013. But he had transmission leak and a defect in the paint and a window trim part. His car is a first new model of year car, mine is last of last gen. Great cars though. Just telling my story. I hope it lasts long time. I put good synthetic in it and filter. One last thing that dealer said was that my AC was not at coldest temp and they charged to refill fluid etc. Was not expecting to do that. It is alot cooler now, I previously thought it did not seem as cold as it used to.

I've also replaced one of the driveshafts, the entire sunroof, the flex pipe, resonators, and the Y pipe, and twice I've had to fix broken door locks/handles Finally, I don't like the 17 inch wheels and tires at all. I recently upgraded to 18 inch 10 spoke wheels out of a 2011 Sport Package (not 3.5L sport model) and the handling is like night and day. I can take offramp at 10mph faster than I was before. My cousin also had to have his throttle body replaced on his 2009 Ford Fusion 2.3L in 2021 and the mice had chewed some wires as well. The repair bill was $2000 at a local mechanic. He said the car gets 31 mpg and seems to have alright power. I also see that all the interior panels in the dash are starting to warp and it looks terrible. The gas cap door doesn't want to stay shut either. The spring is really weak. It is actually a pretty big car and has 16" rims. The trunk looks just a little too small to fit a scoop shovel in for the winter, but each of the back seats can be folded down to accomodate for that. I had been looking at buying a Fusion, but I don't think it is a good fit for me. I have been driving Buicks LeSabres all my life. Other than oil changes, nothing breaks on them up to 200,000 miles. I did replace one front wheel bearing at 175,000 miles and it was only $73 on ebay and it is the slide on hub style, so it is really easy and only takes 30 minutes. You did a great job on the video!

Good review! Ford Fusions are very good family sedans and rather sporty. Ur review of a 2nd yr Gen1 model shows they are well designed & very reliable. Ppl I know that have em seem to really like em! The recent models are even more sporty w/ Ecoboost motor options & ultra frugal if you choose Fusion Hybrid. I heard the top line Ecoboost motor gives close to 350hp ? Thats bonified sport sedan territory.. if true.

I have a 07 Ford Fusion SE , 4 cylinder and have a problem no mechanic can solved. When you accelerate from a stop the car makes a load rumble sound. You can only hear it inside of the car, when you place your foot on the brake and press the gas it still makes this loud rumble sound for about 5 seconds. If you accelerate slowly the sound does not appear...wondering if you seen or heard of this type of problem? PS: the motor mounts were changes last year we recently changed one mount again-the dogbone or tranny mount, still this symptom persists. Also one mechanic said it was the air box silencer, not sure that was the issue...you only hear the noise inside the car...if you stand outside and gas it while pressing the brake you will not hear this rumbling sound outside the car...

I have am '06 that has 160k. I bought it from my mom at 50k, she bought it around 25k. I had the same thermostat issue, and had to change the battery. I changed the brake pads at 120k (and mom had never had them changed). I changed transmission fluid and filter at 80k, and it has a bit of a slip now so I imagine it's due. The CD player crapped out long ago, and fuck Ford for putting the same radio in my friend's '06 F150 but putting a clock on it. Can't take the transmission out of overdrive. A piece of plastic is broken in my shifter, so while it still finds gears normally, it twists back and forth a lot and will sometimes not trip the switch to release the key. I haven't changed plugs or fuel filter, those are coming soon.
Overall it's a great daily commuter. I'll probably push it to 200k, and hand it off to my kid when he turns 16.
