The most I've done in my life was a binge of Halo 2 when I was 12 and I stayed up for 3 days strait and felt like total crap at the end. Now at 29 I can barely go past 12-14 hours without feeling like crap.
There was a soldier in WW1 that got shot at the head but survived but the part of his brain that got shot made him be able to sleep and he couldn't sleep for the rest of his life but he had no problems he lived to his 90's

For anyone who hasn't tried staying up all night▪ It's really really hard to stay awake he next day. The first time I tried this, I kept subconsciously closing my eyes and learning against the desk. It ended with sleeping for 15 hours that night. Also, don't try this if you are already lacking sleep. A week and a half with a cold is not worth it. Just manage the assignments so you're less stressed at the end
I try this too. Here is a few thing that might happen: 1. You won't last, like just sleep. 2. You will make it, congrats. 3. You'll get caught. 4. You get bored and sleep. I've only done it three times in three years. Or maybe four times.
There are some nights where I toss and turn in bed all night, but I just can't seem to fall asleep at all. It actually happens pretty often, usually when I have big plans the next day. It sucks, cause I usually don't end up getting any sleep whatsoever, and I'm not as energetic or alert when doing whatever plans I have (e.g New York Comic Con or a basketball game, etc). And I don't end up sleeping til later the next night... the longest I've been awake has probably been around 36 hours or so.
72 hours... I almost fainted in b&q on the last 24 hours due to how tired I was, but didn't want to sleep till 9pm so I could get my routine back. Insomnia sucks.
