I understand your analogy and the need for Alzarri to improve. But had Ambrose been bowling today, he definitely would not have had that average. The mindset of batsmen are totally different these days. They are far more attacking and dynamic.

I saw Walsh intimidated batsmen and then Ambrose got the wicket, and Vice versa. Ambrose was meeeeeean. Walsh was a not so mean but very poisonous. That’s why they complimented each other so well.

U mean James Anderson? That's an English misty morning bowler. Broad is better than him. Nothing about him intimidates a batter. Wouldn't be in my top 20. He plays so long that's why he got so much wickets. If they had played wood over him in the first 2 test England would have won the ashes.

Taking 689 wickets is amazing only 2 guys have more and they are both spinners. One who was a genius and one who played on spinning sub continental wickets with a dodgy action that aided him to generate spin. And also to your misty bowler point. Yes we play a lot of tests in England and we play the ashes every 2 years so we get a lot of 5 match series in. But let’s not forget he’s taken 250 wickets away from home. Which is pretty good for an English misty bowler.

As per my knowledge he never visited India where he would have been tested. If I am not wrong only 2 visiting pace bowlers performed well on Indian soil in decades are McGrath and Dayle Stane.
