I turned my '74 XLCH into a rocketship! Would only pull to 4500 RPM when I bought it,I scattered it across the garage floor to freshen up all the worn out parts, and wiring. Got a 7200 RPM and still pulling hotrod out of it with a dual throat del orto, Andrews "Y" grind cams, and flowed the heads, and cleaned up all the factory casting boogers(of which there were many),strong running, one kick(scrapped elec starter),fast, reliable, fun, good looking ride,I never should have sold!!
Ummm... yeah... I've had two '76 XLCH's. Bought one in 1978, traded it for a '69 Dodge Super Bee in 1980. Bought another '76 XLCH in 1980, and still own it today (full restoration in 2015). Both were (are) certainly kick start only.
This dude is more Wolverine than Hugh Jackman. Awesome. I've never wanted a Harley until now, what a great looking bike. Does that air cleaner get in the way of your right leg?
74 was not the last year for kickstart only my 75 is a kicker only also the year they went to left side shift iam in the middle of rebuilding one at this time
Last year of kickstart 1979 Last year of rightside shift 1974 although change the selector pawl oin trans on a 1975, 1976 and ypu have right side shift Thqt linkage on 1975 and 1976 sucked!

Love the early iron head Sportsters pre 1974
The 1974 XLCH is not the last kick start only. I bought a new 1977 XLCH and it had only the kick pedal.
That's a nice old bike you have there.
cool paint scheme fits the vintage look
I have 4 years into a 1975 ironhead stroker...not a rich man.
All old harleys are a PITA but they are fun to ride!
My favorite harley!
Slick lookin sporty
What a bike ! Wow love the kick start I really wish they made conversion kits for newer stuff
Not sure what you mean by last year of kick start only. I had a '76 and a '77 XLCH kick start only from factory.

Love this build, trying to do something similar. Any link on these shocks you guys like to use?
Very Nice!
Messed that up, my 79 xlch was kick start from the factory with electric start cases. Of course I added electric start.
1979 was the last of the XLCH kick start sportsters. 1974 was the last year of the right side shift.
Hey guys, what size front rotor?
Awesome 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
