Man, I agree with those first two. A Camry or even better, an Accord. Rather than a Buick, try a Mazda sedan. Also nearly indestructable and even less moolah!

I have a 99 CRV. Bought it 3 years ago for $2100, with 135k miles. Think it was flooded and had a misfire and cracked windshield. Replaced glass and plugs. Paint looks like crap but it runs like an energizer rabbit. I've driven it about 60k and it's still my go to daily beater.

I have the lexus is250 awd but a 2006 with 231,000 miles. Is a slow car, has consumption of oil aprox. 1/4 of gallon every 4,000 miles. In my opinion is a reliable car. The electronic steering module i had to changed for a used one it cost me $120 two years ago. I did water pump change and 2 cv axles. Nothing else. I do oil change every 5k miles.
Before all of you guys go a buy the IS or any 3.5 liter V6 engine or 2.5 V6 Toyota engine. The 2G-RE engine or 3G-RE series engine. These engines are know to leaking from the timing chain cover, I used to work at Lexus of Wayzata. The head gasket will leaking after 100k miles, the only way to fix the problem is dropping out the motor and transmission out of the car. It will cost you around 3k for timing chain gasket replacement, and 6k for head gasket. Scott must not work at Lexus dealer, if he work at Toyota. It’s a common issues on all 4Runner, Tacoma, Highlander, Camry V6, and Avalon. It will be cheaper at Toyota but still going to cost you arm and leg. Don’t Buy a Used Lexus IS, GS, ES and RX 350 unless you are prepared to pay for the replacement down the road. Every day 2 out of every 8 Car or SUV with that 3G-RE or 2G-RE V6 will have the leaking issues. Every Toyota or Lexus mechanic always knows the common issues.
I had the Front timing cover leaking on my 2010 RX 350. I don’t remember when it started leaking but I had that car for 12 years and never had that repaired and it still drove fine.
Thanks for the tip. I'm an avid Toyota/Lexus fan. I currently drove a 2005 Matrix XR 5-speed. I drive it 215 miles a day with no issues other than standard maintenence. What Toyota/Lexus cars would you recommend that give the least amount of trouble?
I watch a lot of murder documentaries & most serial killers have tarps in their trunks. It is incredible how many of the cars that Scotty reviews also have tarps in the trunks. 🤔
@Arthur-ke9vz It's also much more reliable. The IS250 has no D-4S, so the intake valves carbon up because it only has direct injection. Really not Toyotas finest hour that engine.
I was looking for a Lexus IS for my son. In the end I decided it was too small, but just about every one I saw had been in an accident. Must be the combo of young drivers and fast engines.
I gave away my 2002 nissan altima with the 3.5 engine. It had 375,000 at the time and ran like the day i bought it. They guy still has it, with 420, 000 miles.

As long as it’s low miles and newer you’re good. Everyone is generalizing pretty bad in these comments. They’re a little under powered compared to the 350s, and 350s have better long-term reliability into higher miles, but they’re still really good cars if they haven’t been abused and they’ve had all their recalls fixed depending on the year. I’m in the market for an es350, or an f sport because they allegedly have a better fuel/air mix compared to high mileage is models that seem to have carbon problems when they’re high miles
Thanks. I've had bad experiences with Ford Explorers. I had two transmissions go bad and they used a plastic timing chain guide in the engine (that wears out fast & requires removing the engine to replace).
Last year I bought a used 2016 3.5 SL Altima. Despite the CVT it drives like a champ. Fully loaded, leather, moonroof all bells and whistles. I love it!!!!
That Lexus interior is filthy! How and why do people let their cars get like that? How hard is it to wipe down the dash occasionally and give it a quick vacuum?
Will, they did look better than the awful Lexus grille - I found myself thinking they should offer an aftermarket way to dress up the bottom part of the grille so it doesn't LOOK like one big gaping maw - maybe a different color on the bottom part of the grille, making the horizontal bottom park look like a different color, reducing the size of that awful mouth of the grille.
The is250 has direct port injection only and needs the top of the motor sand blasted every now and then due to carbon buildup on the valve stems. Go for the 350 instead imo.
Had to nab the rav4 with one when I finally found one in mint condition. I love our 1st gen cx5 but I always wonder why other cars even exist. Long live the 2grfe

Scotty, can you make a recommendation for a pickup that has less computers and will run for a long time as long as it is maintained? The 99-01 Dodge ram 1500 is solid with solid front axle which is awesome but has serious rust issues in the north east. Any others ? Thank you for all the wonderful content!
Just got a ford f150 2016 xl reg cab… bare bones.. just have Bluetooth.. no CarPlay.. 2wd. 6.5 feet bed.. no bells and whistle much. Just need to change transmission fluid every 40-50k miles, oil change 4-5k miles..
My sister lease ES350 back in the 90s for her commune from home to work There was no issue like her Brand new Buick Sumerset that constantly having issue until we treat with Lemon laws and got rid of that car. We have the buyer for Lexis after the lease expired even we put 90K miles in 4 years. She brought another Hi-Bride SUV after the E-350 and the car still at her place, we replaced the sterling rod for $900.00 the SUV is currently has 75K and my sister is now retired and will not get anther car.
U can get the 350 all day without the f sport package and you’ll save gas and probably keep it longer. The f sports are awesome but finding one with low miles and having extra for gas are both essential
Ugh the v6 in those explorers is awful. Ford took the bottom end of a great ohv v6 and made it an ohc engine. It has 3 chains. 1 driving a dummy shaft where the cam was then 2 chains from that shaft to each cam in the heads. Thing is one of those is in the back of the engine. The tentioners fail and you have to pull the motor to replace. Not a vehicle I'd want with high miles. They don't get great mpg either. Get a v8 explorer instead imo
Hi scotty i always watch ur videos when they cross ny screen no matter what I'm wat hing at the time. I have a question i think im going to purchase a 2012 infiniti G37 XSport sedan. Can you give me your advice on this vehicle. It has 60k miles on it and is clean inside as well as outside. On carfax it comes up as not being in an accident with maintenance schedule up to date. The asking price is $17,499.00 What is your review on this vehicle. Thank you George Espinoza
Dude - don’t do it. An Infiniti is an expensive Nissan and g37s are the closest they ever got to reliable car but it still wasn’t. Their transmissions need babied and in fact - the 2012 models had a bunch of recalls and are known to have moldy computers - I honestly wouldn’t touch a used Nissan with a 100 foot stick of money if I had one lol - for that kind of money you should get a Toyota or a Lexus. You could find a Lexus with similar mileage. I say all this because I used to be obsessed with g37s - they look so cool and their performance is admirable - they just cost so much to upkeep.
The IS250 has trouble with valves carboning up because it only has direct injection. Get the IS350 or keep your old car. If the IS300 has a 2JZ and is a manual, it will be worth a lot some day. Unless you live in an area where the IS300h is available, get it instead. IS300h has excellent fuel efficiency, is easier to maintain as it's a 2.5 4-cylinder, and isn't exactly slow with 223hp. Only downside is that it's electronically limited to 200km/h (about 125mph).
did scotty mess up by saying it is a 2.5l v6 which is NA and doesnt have GDI??? as far as im concerned the 2.5 v6 are direct injected cars and have carbon buildup issues.

My 2000 CRV ran good but that split case transmission was junk, many of them the drum rings were so soft you could scratch them with your teeth, tranny only lasted 65,000 and it was essentially undrivable..
Hey new car driver here, is the market going to crash soon?? Everything even used seems so expensive right now.
Can you do a video of what cars to buy if a person lives in Connecticut? Price range $6,000
Hold on. Uncle scotty moved to houston again.
Looks like.
As a middle Tennessean, my feelings are hurt (again).
No, he's in Clarksville Tennessee. He said it himself a few days agod and he filmed his travel from Rhode Island to Clarksville. 😮This must be a video he recorded in Texas but didn't post
No this is from 2021.
Most of the videos that involve several cars and starts with a white font and the name of the car model are usually compliations of older videos he recorded years ago
2004 Honda CR-V is the best car I have ever owned.
If the 2000 CRV is 20 years old, ... hmm, this video is 4 y.o. too! 🤔
Welcome to Scotty Kilmer.
Registration on windshield says 2020 so yea .. I guess so lol
2:58 "what kind of cars do americans want" puts a picture of a donk on 26's LMFAOOOO
10th gen F150s. 97 to like 04 I think. They just do not die.
@@3ZN357 thank you
Just got a ford f150 2016 xl reg cab… bare bones.. just have Bluetooth.. no CarPlay.. 2wd. 6.5 feet bed.. no bells and whistle much. Just need to change transmission fluid every 40-50k miles, oil change 4-5k miles..
So Scotty most of us want SUV’s or mini vans how about something about these!!!
😊
My 14 Is 250 f sports has 116k miles not a single problem
Greetings from Puerto 🇵🇷 Rico!!!
The 350 is way better than the 250 is350 f sport if better for the money
Depends if you want to waste gas.
U can get the 350 all day without the f sport package and you’ll save gas and probably keep it longer. The f sports are awesome but finding one with low miles and having extra for gas are both essential
My Parents have a 2p13 Nissan Altima. The Oil light is on. Also the Air Conditioner only cools on the Passenger side of the Car any Suggestions?
2015 IS 250 and any lexus model after 2015 has D4S which dont carbon up . I think the d4s in lexus is started in 2014
Im driving that exact ford explorer w 105k miles.
What year f250 do you recommend Mr Kilmer. Looking to tow a utility trailer and 2 zero turn mower
What about the earlier ones....2007-2011? Still just as solid???
Ugh the v6 in those explorers is awful. Ford took the bottom end of a great ohv v6 and made it an ohc engine. It has 3 chains. 1 driving a dummy shaft where the cam was then 2 chains from that shaft to each cam in the heads. Thing is one of those is in the back of the engine. The tentioners fail and you have to pull the motor to replace. Not a vehicle I'd want with high miles. They don't get great mpg either. Get a v8 explorer instead imo
Start using timestamps please!
Thank you 🙏🏼
hey scotty what oil filter are you using on your cars Now of Days...
Hey guys. What about used Rav4 hybrid, 2018?. I want to buy it, i like it so much. I hope it would be no problems with car. Any suggestions?
Hi scotty i always watch ur videos when they cross ny screen no matter what I'm wat hing at the time.
I have a question i think im going to purchase a 2012 infiniti G37 XSport sedan. Can you give me your advice on this vehicle. It has 60k miles on it and is clean inside as well as outside. On carfax it comes up as not being in an accident with maintenance schedule up to date. The asking price is $17,499.00
What is your review on this vehicle.
Thank you
George Espinoza
Dam Scotty bro if your not here anymore..WE ARE ALL FCKED....PLZ DONT GO NOWHERE..PLZ
How about a low mileage ford crown vic or buick with the 3800 v6?
I need some advice..which would you buy Lexus 330/350 ; Madza cx 5 or Honda cr x and why?
I went thru 3 CRV, with 195k, 210k, 175 k mile and no major problem
The IS250 has GDI injection.
Thanks for making these cars more expensive 😢
I’ve been looking at these is250for a few weeks.. currently have the is300..❤
Get the 350
The IS250 has trouble with valves carboning up because it only has direct injection.
With the Lexus….Should you put 87 gas or 93 gas in it? Will it run the same? 🤔
Rav4 with the V6 is very fast!!
did scotty mess up by saying it is a 2.5l v6 which is NA and doesnt have GDI??? as far as im concerned the 2.5 v6 are direct injected cars and have carbon buildup issues.
I wanted to get the ls460 but I saw that if you get the ones with the air bags they go out fast so I just went with the 2gr fks
Scotty is prepared with his Preparation H
that’s your old Texas house!!! I thought I moved out of there
Old explorer 💪
Scotty owns a house in every state.
No GDI and no turbo is always good for longevity.
250 has gdi
Supercharged on the other hand is great
thats why everything is gdi or turbo now
@@hydrostatic8048oh yeah
Is250 tires wear out every 10-15k miles 😒
Are the hood shocks upside down on the Lexus?
Front ends on the og crvs get very loose...
Did you move back to Houston? 😂😂
The Ford Exploder! V6 Timing chain guides go and engine dies! Get the V8.
