    Stability for a year is fantastic! I'm in my 60s, so I remember a time when people had less trouble maintaining a stable, "healthy" weight. Most people hat breakfast at 8, lunch at noon, and dinner at 6pm. These meals had to be prepared by someone in the household from raw ingredients, fast food was a treat you might have on a Saturday, and snacking was not all that common. People ate primarily home-cooked meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner in about a 10 hour span. Not so different from 8/16. And people who skipped breakfast, which I think was many/most of us, were eating 8/16 aside from a coffee in the morning. I think it's also significant that since so little pre-made food was eaten, we were not eating hidden sugar. And nobody walked down the street drinking huge, calorie dense coffees. Nobody walked down the street drinking coffee at all. Everything in life and society supported a way of eating which was clearly healthier. It's much harder today when the workplace often has food lying around, and people cook far less for themselves. There is a belief that we don't have time to cook, but since we have time to binge Netflix, we clearly have time to cook. Making a meal does not have to be a long complicated activity, but advertising has convinced us that it is. I applaud you for your transparency in this effort, and for your success in maintaining a stable weight despite the influences of modern life which can make that a struggle. Brava you!

      This is such a great prospective! Thank you so much for sharing! I find everything you mentioned to be true. . .I'm constantly bombarded with fast food and junk food at work and home at all hours of the day whether I want to or not. I tried my best to keep strong self discipline with all kinds of diets and even the traditional 3 meals and exercise to stop my exponential weight gain but failed every time. So I found fasting and found that limiting the time I eat was so helpful for me. It's honestly a shame that our society is built on this calorie dense always available food culture. It means that every day is an uphill battle with food and eating and weight and self image. I'm slowly getting myself out it . . .so thank you so much for the love and support

    • @IvyRoad
      @IvyRoad 4 года назад +13

      @@theadventuresofrah I really admire you and your efforts. I think you will help a lot of people without tipping them into disordered eating. I think we have to make friends with hunger. It isn't an intolerable state; it's just the signal that in a little while we will need to eat. I think we have confused not feeling too full with being hungry, and hunger with pain. Hunger is, as you have demonstrated, a manageable and necessary sensation, not an emergency, and not virtue. I'm sorry that you have such a lot of societal crap to deal with. All these things get in our heads. You didn't create this situation, but you are dealing with it beautifully!

    • @IvyRoad
      @IvyRoad 4 года назад +9

      Just want to add, that hunger, while it's not an emergency, is a call to be answered. Learning to recognize both hunger and satiety in a peaceful way, and not confusing either of them with anxiety, boredom, sadness, etc., is so important. And so difficult when, as you say, our society is built on screwing that up. My family has experienced eating disorders of a few types. I know how these things get out of balance. What you have demonstrated is one way to find balance, and you have stayed balanced for a year!

      WithMetta omg this sums up my life before college! Im 24 now but before we mainly ate home cooked meal even to lunch in school we took our own lunch with us and I honestly loved it and i was so much thinner ! @@la4549 Yours is not an uncommon story, Leena. Maybe this big interruption we have now will allow us to break some habits we want to break. I'm pretty convinced we do best when we eat homemade meals, made of food ;0) , and forego the desserts masquerading as coffee. Good luck with your 12 kg. Losing them slowly is actually better than losing them quickly. :0)

    I probably commented on your last video and I’ll say the same on this one... fasting is miraculous💕 it’s a beautiful experience everyone should try! Sometimes when people write negative comments it’s because they haven’t taken the time to study this method, they believe the typical “eat a lot in little portions” idea which is completely a misguided way to live. Fasting has healed me in many ways it’s also removed a lot of my sugar addiction and it’s practiced in history and in a lot of religious and spiritual practices💕 beautiful video and keep it up🤩

    • @theadventuresofrah
      @theadventuresofrah  5 лет назад +9

      Thank you so much for the lovely comment! I agree 100%. A lot of people think that fasting= starvation and that's why they call for the many small meals a day diet to lose weight. But eating many meals small meals a day was completely unsustainable for me and did nothing for my food addictions. I always ended up giving up and gaining it back. I've had such wonderful experience with fasting that I'm fully adopting it as a lifestyle. There is something so effortlessly easy and natural about it. It's not even about the weight loss anymore. . .its benefits exceed that. I'm so glad to hear you had a similar experience :) sending you much love!

I’ve lost 6.6 lbs in my first week. 👏🏼 I’m noticing better sleep because I’m going to bed lighter, less cravings, I’m more mindful when I do eat. It’s as I thought it would be, but I started with a positive determined mindset and motivated.

At that time, I read that Princess Di always carried a tube of Arnica Gel in her handbag to use on William and Harry. Hi .. I've been doing intermittent for years and now work around a 4 hour feeding window with some days on omad ...
    It's worked GREAT ... feel so much better in all parts of my life ... sleep, energy, mental state and concentration ...
    I built up slowly like you from 12 hours ..then it's not such a body shock ... I've lost over 40 lb ...( We call that 3 stones in UK )
    A great tip I found is to really hit the fluids but make sure you top up the electrolytes as you pee of course so much more ....I just used the simple replacement powder sachets and added these to water..i just have one a day ....or just a little salt if you can't get them. They REALLY are a hidden secret and keep you feeling great ..it's not food shortage oftentimes making folk feel slow . It's dehydration and shortage of minerals...
    Can't really get over the increase of general alertness ....
    It's obviously the 'Hunter's hormone' being around in my body ...not that I'm ever hungry now at all ...
    I just do primal diet in my feeding window ( no processed foods ) and it really works ..I think personally it's the modern smashing up of carbs and blending so we can absorb them as body fat which is killing us now ( the Millers are the killers ) ......I'm living now in a different body ...eating TONS of the right stuff and loving it so so much ....keep in touch ... thanks for sharing .... I left a bunch of comments that might be helpful today on your old video, but another one I have been up to lately is started doing a hundred pushups a few days a week....same as you with food....i just do it on the days i feel like it....but for sure a couple a week. It is doing great things for my upper body without any other workout beside that i hike a lot and thats usually when i do my pushups. Im now up to 150 pushups a day in about 5 sets of varying number. Go girl....Goooooo!!!

    Husband and I have been doing intermittent fasting and counting carbs for 3 months now, it took awhile to shorten our eating window. Also, detoxing from sugar was difficult too, omg and the cravings! But together we’ve lost 55-60 lbs so far, and we have intentions to keep going. The combo with IF and low carb is hands down a killer combo. You’ve already got IF down, I think you’d see crazy results with cutting sugar/carbs. :) btw you’re badass for maintaining a whole year! Keep up the good work!

      thats some awesome progress! Congrats to you both! I would love to cut down the sugars and simple carbs but I keep delaying it especially since I've very stressed lately and they tend be my comfort food. I know that cutting them out will benefit me in the long run but I'm struggling hahaha. Any tips?

    Rather than calorie deficit, have you considered Keto? My A1C went from 7.5 to 5.3 in three months and lost 23 pounds of mostly water weight caused by inflammation from Sugar and grains. I'm 70 years old and changing my whole eating life was daunting. Now I'll never go back. I use almond or coconut flour, avocado oil instead of canola or seed oils, above ground veggies and no root veggies, whole butter, heavy whipping cream, cheese, eggs. Stevia for sugar substitutes. It's to train the body to burn fat as fuel and not glucose. Just a thought. I am proud of your maintenance. It's a big deal. Pats on the back to you. xoxo

      MsAstroStone Keto isn’t good long term. Less than a year is best. Keto can cause strokes, and heart attacks due to the increase of red meat and increase of too much calcium. (:

    I'm fasting every other day. I do eat breakfast every morning: steel cut oats with fruit. After that nothing but water, tea or coffee till the next morning. Eating days I allow myself what ever I want.

  • @robertlisternicholls

    Well done. Its really hard to stick to just one meal a day. I think an easier one to stick to would be to totally fast for one day a week and it normally for 6 days. You would automatically eat a 7th less food per week. Best wishes. Robert

    Been doing IF for about a year and a half.
    Its by far, the best way to keep your weight down without the typical "dieting".
    Our ancestors never ate 6 times a day, nor did they go much more than one meal a day.
    The FDA food pyramid is insulting and only designed to keep people eating way more food than they actually need.

    I also practiced intermittent fasting before I got pregnant and lost lots of weight.. But instead of limiting calories I've cut down on carbs, not eliminated, just cut down and upped good fats. It helped a lot with getting rid of hunger. I don't think I could do IF without changing what I was eating.

    I found intermittent fasting and keto and I lost over 40 pounds, then I met my gf and crashed. I’m trying to get back on my wagon. 16:8 doesn’t work anymore because I’m eating way too much sugary foods. So I started back on omad keto and I’m also going to do some 24-48 hour fasting when working consecutive days. It’s easy to fast at work because I’m not allowed to eat anything when sitting with patients in my hospital job.
