The recording engineer is as much to be praised as the excellent harpsichordist. The full beauty of the performance comes through as clearly as if one were present.
Indeed, technical team typically does not get any credit, even when the mention would be well deserved. Nowadays people take for granted the existence of recorgings. :)
Christine Schornsheim, harpsichordist Harpsichord: Bruce Kennedy, 1989 after Michael Mietke - Bach - WTC II Prelude and fugue no. 9 in E major BWV 878 - Schornsheim | Netherlands Bach Society 23.278 visualizzazioni 27 dic 2022 This no. 9 from the second 'Wohltemperirte Clavier' opens with a refreshingly light prelude, used by the Swingle Singers for their legendary album Jazz Sebastian Bach (1963). This is followed by an ingeniously constructed fugue, in which Bach systematically and very comprehensibly explores all sorts of contrapuntal possibilities. Twenty years after his first collection of music in every key imaginable, Bach completed a second 'Wohltemperirte Clavier'. We recorded his first book of Preludes and Fugues at the homes of 24 different musicians. For this second part, performed in its entirety by Christine Schornsheim, we chose 12 very different locations in Utrecht, to celebrate the 900th anniversary of our home city. Recorded for the project All of Bach on 23 September 2022 at Metaalkathedraal, Utrecht, the Netherlands. - 0qp9vJ_hG7I -
Wonderful music, this Prelude and Fugue no 9! And Christine Schornsheim has all what it takes to make this music complete justice. This idea about choosing twelve very different locations in Utrecht seems to be a success!!! Congrats from Sweden.
Incredibly beautiful, poetic, searching, inspiring, spiritual. Even in today’s age of impossibly high standards of musical interpretation, this performance shines like a star…

Lovely ornamentation in the repeat of first section. refreshingly inventive. Thank you Frau Schornsheim--I always learn something every time I listen to your work.
Lovely to listen to a sI'm working on playing this piece. The fugue that gave the inspiration for Love Changes Everything 😀 for those that don't know, listen to the opening bass notes.
Simply gorgeous interpretation of JSB amazing creative spiritual music! Best wishes from Appalachia Kentucky USA. Happy New Year Netherlands Bach Society and Lady Christine.

Aquest es especialment bonic. Relentir el tempo per a deixar fluir la bellesa de la música; escoltar amb pausa i atenció per a gaudir del que la perfecció ens mostra. Em recorda Celibidache.
Technical question (hopefully not a dumb one) - how does someone 'page turn' with a digital device and no hands free to press anything? Is there a page turner standing by with bluetooth control or something? I don't think it can just be the editing.
As usual, excellent performance, very high sound quality and broken video. Very often the image is blurred. The cameraman certainly does not have the appropriate education and does not know how to set the appropriate aperture of the lens to get the depth of field. Maybe you need to change the cameraman? There are a lot of educated cameramen who know how to use a camera.
Looked fine in my screen. RUclips sometimes lowers the quality by random. Maybe that was the case 😉. Besides it's all about the wonderful music, so enjoy it.

Praising the NBS for Bach goes without saying. But now they started exploring these amazing spaces in Utrecht. A multidimensional experience.
This fugue...you're not ready for it.
Bach's compositions always give me sadness and happiness at the same time. My favorite composer.

What a marvel of interpretation!
Are you talking about the ancestor of music theory? @ I don't see the score from this angle yet...
I played it very well. Thanks for sharing. Good job. 😇🙏
Yes, the playing and the sound quality really are superb.
Which temperament is being used?
Wunderbar. Danke
LoveLy clear playing. Would be nice to know the instrument’s maker JG
Bruce Kennedy, one of the great harpsichord makers of our time.

I would think the app knows which notes you are playing with the microphone so it should just listen to you play and know when to turn the page.
Usually musicians use the bluetooth footpedal to turn pages
@@EricJohnson-li3uj, would you think that that's possible too when playing from a facsimile of the manuscript .
@@mateuszg4815 Bluetooth footpedal, brilliant, thanks.

Genial!
Maria Barbara play harpsichord🎹
J’aime beaucoup le prélude et les ornementation. J’aime moins la fugue qui est trop lente pour moi.
Bach's music is vertical not horizontal....so the fugue is completely lost
how does she turn page ?
She has a foot pedal to do that.

The rubato sounds a bit over the top to my taste🤔
