I just discovered your channel a couple days ago. Hands down some of the finest production value content I’ve seen. You are right up there with guys like Flite Test and they are a much bigger and now fully functional business. My career is in broadcast media so take it from me when I say you are doing outstanding work. Keep it coming!
I didn't know a single thing about how to build a glider. But, based upon this video and a plan I found complete with measurements, my first ever glider build took flight within about 3-4 hours of build time. Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
When cutting the foam, if you do two passes instead of trying to cut all the way through in one, you can get really nice cuts without using a brand new blade
Tip to the people building the control surfaces: use pieces of thin paper clip underneath the tape to maintain the wanted position. Works great if you crash a Sweet spot flight.
very cool! i made one, i bought a full glider, i bought some motors, wheels and propellers, also batteries and all stuff(including the remote itself), i attached the parts to the airplane and oh wow! i managed to fly it out my building and get it back to me! i also found out that the wireless remote has a range of 210 feet!
@@flavorman9159There's Control Line planes where the only control method is via actual wires, like the flying offspring of a puppet and a hammer throw.
Wouldn't a through wing design where you just bent the wing from front to back be easier than carving out an airfoil? you would likely have to set up a thicker fuselage and the wing would need to be larger from front to back but that would allow more lift.
Yeah I have tried both, and bending the wing to create an undercambered airfoil is really easy and works great. I have also tried the carving method but my wings just break really easily (with 3mm foamboard)
Neat project, but I think I’m going to stick to paper (White Wings) for now. Ninomiya’s “Tri-Linear” designs are especially good fliers, only issue is they seem to be out of print. Good thing I have many unbuilt, could just get some heavy card stock too.
I like the simplicity and the material. But the wing profile is too thick and chord lengh too short which decrease Reynolds number. The result is huge drag. For such small glider it is much better to make wings wider (longer cord) and as thin as possible. It is even worth to sacrifice the aspect ratio, since at low Re the induced drag by tip vortices is less impotaint than viscous drag and form drag due to thick profile.
I think there is something wrong with the diagram because I compared your measuring with a ruler I realised what you wrote on your digram is not the same measurements as I saw on the video! check your digram
A simple yet efficient little glider nice video dude . One good idea I recommend you is try to make a spare using wood for the airframe and transparent tape to as coating for the wind .Overall great job dude😉
Here's an idea... Instead of using foam board which you have to buy, try using saved styrofoam meat trays. I've been making model planes from those trays since I was a little kid. Better to use those trays instead of throwing them in the trash. That's a REAL way to recycle and "save the planet" (if you believe in that sort of crap)
Can you make one using cardboard please The place where i live doesnt have any foam i just have to buy it online but online shopping is almost impossible
it just need flaps ,... your wing chord just way to small,... it's not capable of making enough lift, so the plane went down... try to make a bigger wing or other type of wing
Tip: for getting the wings a perfect airfoil shape, fine grit sandpaper works great (after you've done the basic cuts) airfoil
A thin coat of PVA glue will reinforce the wing without adding to much weight.
@@bobdoba1 I'm sure it would but probably unnecessary, ive had my glider for 2 years without much wing damage

yes indeed and a cleaner straighter cut :)

6:00 don’t forget about windy days, that’s another very good detail
I made it . Really working. 👍👍👍👍
Build wider wings, then the planes will glide much further.
That has to do with the re-number. Small and light planes need wider wings!
Wide as in chord or span?
@@Vastasoceans7532 ... Chord.
That's good, but it came out at twice the weight it should have. Maybe clip back the wings a tad, or make an outline and cover it with tissue?
Your foam could be heavier than his
Or put a weight on the centre of gravity, under the middle of both wings.
If you tape the wings down to the table while shaping them you'll have an easier time getting a straight cut and have less risk to your fingies
Awwe such a cute word, fingies 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
If i find some foam maybe i'll do it cuz this LOOKS SO FUN
wow, a nice project. I'll try it with my kid :) Thanks, Joyplanes RC
i guess Im kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Erick Luca ehh lately I have been using flixportal. Just search on google after it :P -nico
@Nico Caiden Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it!!
@Erick Luca You are welcome xD

I’m trying to imagine a wired remote (Tx) as opposed to a wireless one (which they all are)
@@flavorman9159There's Control Line planes where the only control method is via actual wires, like the flying offspring of a puppet and a hammer throw.
The cg may not be 30% the wing cord. It should be at the centre of lift which will depend on how you have cut that top profile
You are right.

Thank you. What thickness is the foam board?
Thank you for sharing, please can I ask the thickness/depth of foam board?
I think he is using 5mm foamboard
How thick is the foam board you used? my guess is 5mm
I have a question, how to calculate the area of horizontal stabilizer?
length of horizontal stabilizer should be 20% of the wingspan
F1h stab area 2.55 DM sq, F1A stab area 4 DM , top models volume .
I like your plane, modern and very elegant.
thanks for the physics tutorial

Wow amazing ❤️😍
I had also made a plane . A little bit bigger than it . It was sooooo smoooth. I had made before watching this video
Somebody please give the link to the DG 1000? I cant find it in the description

can i get some help from u please? Can we talk on instagram or discord messages?
Cooles Video..
use a hot wire to cut and trim pieces
What glue do you use for the foam sir?
I used foam
where i can get the second glider plan?
The plan doesn't say the width of the wing
it does. It's 35 mm
Can I get the template of dg1000? I cannot find the link in the description.

i have the same problem. On the diagram the wingspan of the glider is 252mm but in the video it is clearly larger.
Clean, well explained!

1/2 x base x height = area of a triangle
What's the foam for the wings actually called?
Depron
Second glider link ???
We'll why am I watching this....
Cuz il like to do craft like you🖍️🖍️

ok this video has more than 1k likes so please make a video if you have not already
What thickness is the foam?
5mm
@@Joyplanes Thanks.
@@Joyplanes what is the width of the wing
@@jakobofcincy he is not revealing that
i repeat be careful with the blade
Oh no
what is the measurement for the vertical measures??
I can’t see the width of the wing in the plans?
what type of foam you have used
It's called foam board or foam core.
3mm?
for the foamboard
5 mm but for small glider 3 mm works better
What is this material called?
Depron or Foam board
Where to buy the foam?
eBay or pizza discs.... 😎
Are you sure about milimeters??? Bc it will be so small :(
i buitl it in millimeters like you said and i wasted a peace of foam board im sad
Hi . The link for the plans is not working.
Fixed
Joy is very nice video
Polyhedral, not dihedral ;-)
That's right, more than one bend.
wow ok
very nice project
Thanks!
So cool! Now am inspired make my gliders better. Thanks!
Bro I want to see the manufacturering of a b2 bomber rc
Now you gotta lift it up to space with a drone and let it go
I don't understand should we be careful with the blade?
pls make a paper dg1000
I'll try
nice
Awesome!!!!
where is the DG1000 model?
Can you make one using cardboard please

Can i make it with cardboard
Wtf why u so genius
Hmmmmm this can make a nice meme 🎶what can I say except I'm a terrorist 🎶
Its so small! 252 millimeters of wingspan is equals to only less than 12 inches and yet you made a huge glider yourself! Unfair!
It's 840 millimetres (580 for the wing and 130 each for the sides which go up)
Thanks friend.
Add a motor and make it fly with rc
On the plans for this glider it says the wingspan is 252mm but in the video it es clearly larger, can someone help me please?
840mm
if you come back its updated
Thank you 👍
