Well as we lick our lips to remove the last taste of turkey gravy, let's now start getting into the Christmas sprit! I know many have started to deck the halls today so please enjoy this yearly traditional offering of mine and enjoy these old snap shots of families from not too long ago. Please look forward to parts 2 and 3 which will be released the next two Friday nights. Which was your favorite snap shot?
This always brings tears to my eyes… Knowing that we could never have that again or be with those people again it’s so very bittersweet😢🥹❤️ Thank you, Scott. I love your channel. You are a gem.🙏❤️
Wonderful! I love the old music, and all the families' moments of Christmas joy, frozen in time. Brings back my childhood memories from many decades ago. My dad would drive us up to the woods and we'd select just the right tree to bring home and decorate. Our house smelled deliciously of pine for the month we had our tree up, and the needles never got hard or fell off like they do with tree lot trees. The day in the woods with dad was something we looked forward to each year. Of course, knowing that Mom had that day to herself, baking up Christmas goodies that we'd get a sample of when we returned home was as much a treat. How I miss my Mom's special baking delights.
I love the tree with tinsel, after the little girl on her bike with the 🎄 tree background. It looks like my mom's Christmas, when she was a kid in 1933. Her name was Judie Johnson, we lived in Minneapolis Minnesota. 💚 ❤ I miss the old department stores downtown. 😢
Thanks, Scott. My favorite was probably the one of the Main Street stores decorated for the holidays, which must have been taken at an odd hour as although the lights were on and cars parked there was no traffic or pedestrians. Remember those days of running in and out of separate shops in the chill winter air? The leather store for gloves or a wallet, the "men's" store for a tie or scarf, the gift shop for that piece of Lefton or a Goebel bird or angel? Mom had to stop in the Ladies foundations for a slip or hosiery. Woolworths for a 10-cent chalk Nativity figure. The smell of pine! The stop in the homemade candies store!!! You always got a sample. Maybe a stop to light a candle or see a live Manger. Santas ringing their bells for a few coins. Bags and boxes, tissue and ribbon. The ringing of the bells lifting into the clear night air. And that hot cup of tea and cookies when you got home chilled to the bone and switched on the tree lights. Good night,
I love looking at old photographs. I am 66 and miss that we no longer use tinsel and garland on our trees. My mother was very particular about how we hung the tinsel. The trees from the oldest pictures came in all shapes and sizes. I can only guess that they were found in the woods and cut down by the family. I have lived all my life in SW Florida and only remember them being purchased from someone who went up north and brought them back to sell.
Thank you Scott for the wonderful memories with pictures of a time gone by. Brought back some sweet memories of that time for me also, and a tear or two.
I keep wondering when I see these kind of vids from Scott, if he is being sly, and he snuck a picture of himself as a boy, or perhaps his own family from "way back," into the mix, knowing we would never be the wiser.
Thank you so much, Scott, for all the time you spent finding all these old photos and putting them together! I sure don't miss all the tinsel that seemed to get on everything! lol Great video!!! ☃️❄️☃️
I just love this and I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite! Since I collect antique and vintage photos they’re all pretty special and wonderful. PS…. Jellied mincemeat? 🤢 😂 thanks for the memories…
A few years ago I was watching one of these type videos from another creator. And how surprised was I to see a picture of my grand uncle and great aunt, along with some others I didn't recognize in a photo I had never seen before. Of course I messaged the creator who never answered to where he found the photo.
Mince meat jello? I'll pass... My most vivid memory of Christmas is the great smell of the new doll Santa would bring me . One yr. I got the famous "Tiny Tears " doll She cried real tears. My brother and I always were up around 6 and opened presents before anyone else. Mom and Dad were still zonked from having to stay up till we went to sleep so they could play Santa. I grew up next to a lake. After News Yrs. we burn the tree on the lakeshore and have a skating party with the neighbor hood kids. There was 6 of us and 6 of them.
Yeah, everybody doesn't love moderne, or nouveau, or mcm, or pop, but yeah, give me the days when EVERYTHING didn't look exactly the same and doesn't look like disney cuteness sanitized it into bland nothingness.

I remember my mother would put the tinsel on the tree one strand at a time. And like your family, it didn’t get decorated until Christmas Eve.🎄☺️
