I love that this show had something for everyone. It’s pretty wild. For me, the huge surprise was Okami sequel and next Ueda game and ofcourse classic Ninja Gaiden
I don't know about 'classic' Ninja Gaiden, it looked like it might be a Metroidvania. Still, will have to wait and see; I'm pretty stoked either way. Okami and Onimusha coming back were the huge surprises for me; Onimusha's last new game is old enough to drink and fuck.
@@genereaverYeah I feel like the possibility/likelihood of it being a metroidvania flew over a lot of people’s heads. i bought the game recently after having gotten a new PC and there's no cross progression so i basically have to start from zero without all my weapons and armour. played one mission against the Illuminate and was terrified, but i will continue the fight for Super Earth!
The game still has nothing compared to what Fortnite continues to deliver year after year to its players. Helldivers fixed some crap they initially ruined but never added anything other than a new zombie race to fight. Then you remember Sony money and whoever votes will get a nice little bonus.

What a great show! The very best in quite a while. The highlight trailers for me were Fumito Ueda's new project teaser, because his last game came nearly a decade ago (2016). His games are a work of art and totally worth playing once in life. And although I've never really played Onimusha or Okami that much, bringing those two franchises back was such a pleasant surprise. Also, go Astrobot! Absolutely deserved the awards it got, especially goty!
My favorite part of the VGA’s has always been the orchestra actually How the composer needs to put all the main themes into one piece, and each having their own individual moments to shine
@haydenkashima Agreed! It's also a dopamine hit to hear the composers transition in between themes. Hearing Elden Ring into Balatro is so freaking cool.
The Game Changer award and Amir Satvat's speech was my personal highlight. No offense to Witcher 4, Astro Bot or other games, but that moment meant more to me than any of the other awards. Amazing stuff.
Real shit. I love the announcements, don't really care for the awards, but that's the kind of thing that actually matters. Talking, no bullshit, about the malpractices in the industry and sharing and platforming an individual kind enough to support thousands who suffer from it is the best decision Geoff has ever made, in my opinion. I'd gladly take 1-2 less announcements every year for something like that.

It's funny to see the differences between various target audiences. Like, I definitely can't play a fighting game to save my life, meanwhile they are shocked Fallout has any fans and call KOTOR turn-based.
I don't think it's just only a message to Sony but it's much to the message of throughout the entire game and industry that fun 3D platformers can be a game of the year winner. Not saying this to Nintendo but saying this to other studios or companies like Microsoft that has many IPs of potential 3D platformers that could have been a good consideration on making or producing 3D platformers. I'm happy that astrobot wins and I'm hoping that we could get a blend of not only games that be serious but also games that are just fun and casual.
For what it's worth, i think Xbox are working with Toys for Bob on their next game which whlill probably be a Crash or Spyro game. Just a shame they spun off Tango Gameworks right after the Excellent Hi Fi Rush
@alexlyster3459 let's hope that could be the case because remember they had rare games for the longest time and they haven't put out a single banjo-Kazooie since nuts and bolts and we all know that game was terrible. And I agree with tango GameWorks seeing how they got cut after HFR never met expectations for Microsoft and seeing how this happened the same year where Astro bot won game of the year this definitely should be a factor for Microsoft to learn that they may have made a mistake.
@ShakShak1999 They've basically said that their approach to IP is that they have to have the right team at the right time and the team has to want to make it. They're not going to force Rare to make a Banjo game, and it seems like they haven't found another team that want to/is right to pick up the baton.
@@alexlyster3459 come on I believe there would be a strong team that could make a good game for that. @@alexlyster3459 also I'm not saying that they need to force but when your product or brand is kind of lacking on the success it needs. I don't understand some of the Sony takes going around the internet right now. Sure they've made missteps with the likes of Concord, and they have acknowledged themselves that their big push into live service was an error and we've seen them making attempts to correct that but are we all forgetting that it's a Sony game, a Sony platformer, that just won Game of the Year? Sony make a wide array of stuff and sure some of it is a miss, but plenty hits there too and the guy is rightly giving props to Nintendo but it was Sony who greenlit and allowed them to make Astro Bot, it's not like they made it behind Sony's back in secret.

And of course, hope it comes with all the extras/artwork-galleries/history/etc. & speaking of CAPCOM & Zelda/Nintendo…. … I’d love to hear about some beautifully hand-drawn remakes, of top down Zelda titles: 1. an OG 1986 Zelda remake (made by Nintendo R&D4, which had some future Capcom employees on the team IIRC) 2. Not enough people are talking about Sven's speech at the end. It's so important. And how poignant is it, that it seems to have passed everyone by. I think people forget how troubled Baldur's Gate III's development was. It had many the markings of a disaster - early access on steam, hugely long development time and time between announcement to release. But, no one cared. Why? Because Larian are one of the only developers that gets it. They care, hugely, about everyone. From Sven himself all the way down to the lowest ranked playtester, everyone bought into their vision, and they took care of all of those who did. And the endless awards they got is testament to what that results in. I really wish people talked about it more, because Sven is the perfect example of what the CEO of a game developer should be, and the applause during his speech proved that those words are exactly who the people who make games care about the most.

And a lot of your "nomenees" are just bias, like split fiction (lightning doesn't strike the same place twice, they already "exhausted" the co-op side, the rest would be in the story and setpiece but unlike cute dolls and story of love and family, it's going to be 2 girls, one of which is fantasy and the other is sci-fi, barely any hearstrings would be pulled to be "the new It takes two 2"), new mafia is a an attempt at reviving dead franchise that doesn't need a revival, you can see how much max and crew "cared" for it, and astrobot wasn't "sudden", unlike balatro, just because you didn't get to play it without ps5 doesn't mean the game wasn't good or didn't come out at all. So, at least nominated it's going to be, there's no hiding from that, just like from gta 6 winning that game awards unless rockstar fumble really hard or openly detest TGA considering how easily manipulated it is and how a lot of it is bought, pizza tower losing to some no name game literally nobody has heard of all over again.

2:21:24 The game received a major overhaul a few months ago that essentially reversed all the nerfs while improving every aspect of the experience, making it extremely fun. The illuminate are so fun, it feels like fighting the covenant and cod zombies at the same time, not to mention the urban environments and vehicles.

@@ryanreyes5067 Imagine all the new players jumping into the game for the first time only to fight the Illuminate
Yup, this comment should be pinned.
The game still has nothing compared to what Fortnite continues to deliver year after year to its players. Helldivers fixed some crap they initially ruined but never added anything other than a new zombie race to fight. Then you remember Sony money and whoever votes will get a nice little bonus.

That weird cat game is definitely made by crypto/NFT/ Ai affiliated folks so I'd take that announcement with a grain of salt.
"Kenny, chill!"

I mean look at crash yeah he had many years of being gone but now seeing how they were able to make a revision collection of the original series, a racing game, and a another installment in the franchise I think they could do the same thing.
@@alexlyster3459 also I'm not saying that they need to force but when your product or brand is kind of lacking on the success it needs. You have to pull some strings or try some stuff to contain players into playing your console. Astrobot wasn't just a new game or a sequel of AIP but it's pretty much of a celebration of PlayStation's gaming history bringing a lot of nostalgia but a great solid gameplay experience.
