Avere 99 anni e possedere ancora capacità cognitive così limpide, lineari, precise. Avere 99 anni ed essere ancora (sempre) un eccellente soprano. Il tempo non ha scalfito tutta questa bellezza, tutta la sua grazia. Magada Olivero rimane in eterno una grande artista e una grande donna.

About 10 years ago I had occasion to meet her and, after introducing myself as the tenor who won the tenor prize in the Cagliari international competition in 1986 in which she was on the jury, and whom she would probably not remember, she proceeded not only to tell me my name, but also the names of he fellow jury members!!! I was absolutely astonished by her incredible memory! She was phenomenal in so many ways, her passing leaves a great vacuum in the history of singers and singing! God bless you!

Non ti ho mai dato del tu nonostante l'affetto che ci legava tanti, tantissimi anni fa (il tuo canto nella chiesa del mio matrimonio è un ricordo incancellabile), ma oggi lo faccio perché le nostre anime si parlano su piani diversi. Dirti ancora una volta grazie è davvero poco: ascoltarti era viaggiare in alto, era non sentire il sangue scorrere, era sentirmi proiettata sul palcoscenico accanto a te, in braccio a te, era piangere e poi gridare la gioia di applaudirti con una gratitudine profonda, totale. Oggi ti è più facile capire quanto sei stata importante nella mia vita...Un abbraccio Magda così, come posso oggi, in attesa di ripeterlo, intenso e luminoso, dall'altra parte del velo.

God, I was so ill at bed that thougth it was a dream (my birthday the Sept 3rd, passed like a ligthning; diabetics like me, suffer worst than others bronquitis and feber!!!...10 days in bed has debilitated me a lot!!!). But when seen Mrs Magda Olivero at her 102 years speaking so greatly (and clear!!!!), I tend to feel that a strong and heartgiving soul like the maestra's, is what helps us overcome dificulties and to live well. Grazie tanti cara maestra!!!!...per sempre in nostri cuori!!!!

The great soprano no more, she was the last link to the past. She had performed and worked with all those long gone, Conductors, composers, singers, directors alike. Like Callas, perhaps the timbre of the voice misunderstood by some but fortunately by most admired and loved. She really new how to make her heroines come to live and how to make them die! Superb! RIP

Magda Olivero is truly fantastic. So many sopranos give up their singing because they think it's natural to stop singing as they age. But the natural singers like Magda, understand that its all in the muscles. Muscles left dormant will atrophy. Apparently, Ms. Olivero has loved singing all of her life and is intelligent enough to analyze what makes her voice "tick". God bless her. She is a true and rare "role model" for the rest of us who love to sing.

Everyone in the audience must be above 60. Where are the younger people. Watching soccer? Or in a Lady Ga Ga concert? Then, one wonders how come every new generation looses so much from the past ones. Well, they miss it right along.
