Winner always got to be the Bruins next game. Those tunes & sounds have been stuck in my head ever since. You have to be able to fly the space shuttle to play the new ones. Man. Thanks for this.
I remember this game on SNES. The game play was so far above what the '94 version was and they added the season play where you could do trades and such.
Actually, it's because the "team points" variable in that game is 8-bit. Therefore the maximum value before it resets is +128. Once the points total hits 128, I believe it resets to -128. So you would be placed at -128 points. You'll still win the president's trophy, so at least there's a little consolation prize.

The intermission highlights, the sound effects, the zamboni lol. 95's graphics didnt look better, it just looked different, and I still prefer 94's. Although 95 had a season mode, create a player, and trades, it just wasn't as fun as 94.
lol since this game is so old youll notice at 1:15 that they say Welcome to a sold out The Spectrum", instead of just a soldout Spectrum home of the Flyers lol I like how you have the philly pitt n or ny rivalry for hockey and the philly dallas rivalry in football. i still do tht and i liked playing Eagles vs. Vikings in when i was a kid on madden 94' b/c of the helmets, the wing vs the horn lol

The way they did it was a math equation. Divide the wins by the losses to decide seeding. You cannot divide by 0, so if you lost 0 games, you missed the playoffs
@HarukaMagical That drove me crazy when the cartridge wouldn't save. I would play about 20 games a day during the Christmas holidays and leave my Genesis on for 5 days straight

I had a 313 point season (they put sidney crosby on my wing) which should have included a similarly mammoth +/- rating, but the +/- for that season was something like -400, which was more than the goals allowed for the entire season. Weird stat keeping methods EA has. :l
@psuzeppelin5 Yeah, cutting in was practically a gaurenteed goal. However, the CPU defense usually did a good job to try and prevent you from doing that. Well, at least in the 94 version.

dude you should really try out nhl 95 allstars from sega sports the defence actually blocks the puck and it dont glitch through like in the ea games :)
@garishyellowshirt alright... 95 is fun, but in my opinion, it's not the best one... if you can get it, buy NHL 94... it's the best one by far... other than that, 96 (97 and 98 are just like it), 93, 95, and 92 are probably the best in order from best to worst... all great games though
I've got a Mega Drive/Genesis, and I've seen a few NHL games on Ebay. The one in best condition, and cheapest, is NHL '95. I was wondering if you think I should go for this one (It's £4.95), or wait until one of the others is put up for sale. Basically, which NHL Genesis games are the best, and is this one worth buying? Thanks for any help.
@psuzeppelin5 dude no lie i loved tht old school bucs helmet too, love when they wear the throwbacks. And i liked the old rams and patriots helmet too. dude im a helmet guy starting collecting gumball helmets when i was 3 and stopped when they became scarce a few yrs ago. i have about 200 of them, no lie. I have 8 replica small helmets too of all my fav teams, but i need to get the old bucs, old 97 ravens, and 90s green Jets, theyre so much better then their curents imo
and the new youtube layout thats coming :( this is like both vista and the new youtube lay out that appears once in a while it has the looks and sounds but user friendly = NONE lol

EXACTLY! NHL 94 was way better in my opinion gameplay wise this version was SO CHEAP looking

Could be 128. If the game used an 8 bit integer to track points, the next score after 127 would have been -127..
sort of... ive always found 96 and 97 to be a lot harder than this one.. but thats just me... good game though

agreed... nes gets on my nerves... snes was ok... and the ps1 had some good soundtracks.. but sega was the best

Anyone had an issue with saving a season on this game for the sega genesis? Whenever I try to continue it would work. Same thing for NHL 97
