It’s a crime that you guys don’t have more followers. Your content is always top notch, perfect quality video and audio. Way too many people are sleeping on you two…
Preston Castle in Ione, CA is made in the same time period 1894 out of the same red stone and it still stands today, so if you wanted to see a almost as grand of a building like the lost courthouse go to Ione, CA and see Preston Castle, now I wonder if it was built by the same Architect.
You are SO GOOD at finding elusive, obscure, and interesting places and things, Bethany and Drew! Love your channel! 👍❤
Thanks, Noah!
That red sandstone reminds me of the mansion that used to be on the land that is now Arlington Garden in Pasadena. The mansion burned down years ago, but some of the old red sandstone blocks were incorporated into the garden. Drew & Bethany - Arlington Garden would be a good place for you to explore! It was an empty lot slated for construction of the connector freeway between the 210 & 710 that never happened. A lovely couple, Betty & Charles McKenney, got tired of looking at a vacant lot full of weeds next door and got permission to build a garden to demonstrate water-wise plants and highlight the history of the site (the garden sells marmalade made from the last [?] orange grove near Orange Grove Blvd). There are tons of hidden gems, like crepe myrtle "wish trees" donated from an art project by Yoko Ono, and a widespread use of "urbanite", aka recycled concrete, as a landscaping material. Hope you will check it out! Unfortunately, I think they require a permit for filming, so you'll have to contact the garden first.
It's close to the Criminal Court's Building on Hill and Temple Street DTLA. (Clara Foltz.) Love this, thank you.
Great stuff! There are other places with fragments of the great red sandstone LA County Courthouse which was taken down due to the 1933 LB earthquake. There are retaining walls at City Terrace Park and Ladera Park made of remnants of the Courthouse. And the Mosk Courthouse has an inset of red sandstone near the Hill St entrance. Keep this up! Thx.
Keep on great job. So many little gems inside the central LA area.
So interesting that such a large structure has so little remaining. Thanks for sharing this nugget.
I wonder if a lot of those sandstone blocks were taken someplace and cut up into pavestones for rich people's patios and walkways.
That is awesome. It's a great way to reuse the old stones from the courthouse.
City Terrace Park was new to me, about 4 miles easy of DTLA (where 10 crosses 710). Not too far south of Cal State LA in East LA.
oh wow! you two never fail to trip me out still after all these episodes and year's
Awesome!! Another Fabulous video and piece of history! California is filled with an abundant amount of history! This is just fascinating.
Stimson House on Figueroa in the North University Park area is another example of the same or similar style architecture. You can examine the "gate" or barrier outside right on Figueroa to get a closer look of the material as well. You can also go inside Mt. St. Mary's College and check out Doheny Mansion for another look at a beautiful historical building.
Drew's new hairstyle looks sharp. Suits you, pal. And of course, very interesting video. Thanks.
As noted, the courthouse looks quite similar to Preston Castle in Ione--well worth a visit! (I went there to check it out after seeing it on an episode of The Lowe Files 🙂)
Interesting. In Toronto there is a public park in Scarborough called "Guild Park and Garden". During the 50s and 60s it was a private estate. The owners went around rescuing stone work from sites where older buildings were being demolished (To be replaced by Bauhaus glass Boxes). There are some quite extensive plinths and Greco-style pillars scattered around the park along with some rescued sculptures. It is a popular place for wedding photography.
I’m sure that beautiful building was replaced with some ugly glass tower. Great detective work on your part!
Greetings Bethany, Drew, and everyone! That is a cool fine!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, Thanksgiving, take care, and enjoy your life!
Very interesting find. It’s practically archaeology at this point.
Love this discovery, thank you! Great vedio....
Love the new hair cut, sir!❤
----- I love the stuff you guys find!
Thanks, Paul!
@@OddityOdysseys If I knew how to do it I send links to some of your videos to the Jimmie Kimmel talent booker. Your stuff would be a hit on his show!
What a neat treasure. It was so majestic!
It was a fun find!
Look at the hair cut on that young man!😻

Mmm I think I been there a while ago... I didn't what those rock mean but now I know. 👍🏻😷👍🏿🇨🇦🇵🇭🇺🇲
Fun post
Awesome
Shoulda, coulda, woulda should have kept the courthouse !!!
Drew you got your ears lowered.
I lived here for 7 years from 2005 - 2012 and I never knew this
Good find! But please don't go to City Terrace at night. The LACSD still considers a seven square mile area across the 10 Fwy from Cal State L.A. to be very dangerous... Latino gangs. And crime is up. 😮
Very cool, love old stuff…, A little disappointed, short video 😢
Woah, somebody got a haircut!
Not just a hair cut but a bunch of them,😂
ha at 0:09 the hand signs - for who have eyes to see
the numerals in the logo as well
Yoooo
omg wheres his hair????
What on earth happened to Drew's hair ? 🤔 Why ? I mean Why ?☹️
Who's the new guy?
Based on all the comments we're starting to think no one watched our 24 Hours in a Haunted Caboose video which was the debut of the haircut. 😂
Gah`morning O.O.
G' Mornin', our friend. Happy Saturday!
You better be careful in some of those areas. That park is in gang territory
Wearing shorts in November ...gotta love L.A.!
We actually filmed this a little before November! Looks like we can finally start wearing the long pants again, haha.
Drew! You. Cut. Your. Hair! So. Mainstream!
I guess when they picked these stones. I believe that was the reason. Just a stone. Nothing that would resemble a building. 🤓😎😛😜😝😋🎳🎺
