Morning Captain. Try adding abit of methyl hydrate brake fluid to your window washer fluid. It reduces the freezing temperature of the liquid. Also a squirt of dawn dish soap will improve the cleaning quality of the washer fluid. Safe travels.
Poor fuel consumption was caused by extreme cold temps and extra weight on the trailer (ice & snow). If this was summer, I'd probably be doing 70 litres per 100 km on hills and 65 L on even roads.
If your tires on the drive has more than 300 000km on the road, i bet they are hard as rock with poor tracktion to the road. Buy new one :) Happy birthday Captain :)
Weird story about your expectation that the money-jockey at the Gas Station would know anything about coolant color. Come on Sergei, he may know the color of your coffee, but nothing else😄
The color of the coolant means nothing. I worked in a plant that made antifreeze for many brands. the only difference was the dye we put in the tank cars when we loaded it.
spiral bound note pads are illegal in Manitoba as of 2005. too many pants & jackets were destroyed and the Part-Time Farmers of Manitoba Association introduced the law to keep the farmers from going broke. I'm surprised you didn't know this.... I'm crossing the ON/MB line in a few hours... Gotta keep it above the board...
Got to put the heater system on your fuel tanks to keep it warm they work pretty good company I work for got tired of dealing with fuel problems in the winter months
Thanks. I'll check it out. It's 6:47 PM local time (CST), and I just got the warning LOW VOLTAGE DISCONNECT,. The bunk heater has been running only for about 2 hours.. Had to stop the heater and start the engine. The temp outside at the rest area near Martin, ON is already at -28C or -18F. It's going to be a long long long night ;) but I like watching fully illuminated rigs fly by on Hwy 17 ;) I should probably change the truck's batteries once I'm paid for this trip. Thanks for watching!
Dry van trucks jackknife easy, because they often have the trailer front loaded. So when they hit the brakes, the tractor brakes work good, but the trailer brakes don't.
And with the trailer heavy at the back you'd risk getting the same effect as throwing a dart backwards - sudden self-oscillation. And when braking hard and not securing the load properly it will come as a torpedo through the front of the trailer. So whatever you do you'll be damned.
Sergei have a safe ride. I’m glad all the arm chair winter weather experts have blessed you with their knowledge. You must feel much smarter now ? Hah. Have a good one.
If that was for me?! I have been driving real ice roads (over the frozen lakes, etc.) with bigger and heavier for 23 yrs. I know what I am talking about. Any ice veteran knows that cruise control and ice are not compatible. I like the videos and that but...
@@sebassantos4828 no I actually don’t even see your comment anywhere on this post so not sure what you put. I agree 100% never use cruise on slippery roads. But I know captain Sergei has also been doing this for many many years and has great lessons his viewers can all learn from him.
I had a 6speed Allison in a 2006 kw you would like it. I couldn't hold it in gear with out it up shifting but it does have that option if they configure it at the factory on the shifter it will have buttons RNDH something like that H will be hold button with the Allison you will be able to start from a stop and take off almost like a car the take off is unbelievable
Sergei I was just wondering about the cost of permits based on the actual weight. Do they also consider the fact that, by the time you end up at your final destination, the gross weight of your rig may have increased considerably because of all the ice and snow ⁉️
When I pick up loads of DEF near Courtright, Ontario many drivers are cleaning the slush and snow of their rigs before they scale. 1500 pounds can be removed so you can get the maximum load at the refinery.
You could check out getting sanders mount them on both sides in front of your axle behind the pusher fill them with sand activate by air switch in cab just to get you start you use so much torque to get going. You could probably set the flow on the sand not sure. not sure if can use sanders everywhere I know you can in Mt.
He already said that 4 wheel drive diff etc. is b/s. Not everyone knows well about diff locks... off course they work all the time. As long as it got out, fine.
@@sebassantos4828 4 wheel drive huh? A full diff lock is 8 wheels or all "4 sets"... U guys get that mixed up, most tractors dont have a full diff lock, just a limited where only two sets hook up. Two switches, one for your cross diffs and one for side to side when both engaged locks everything up proper 100 percent no slip at all. haha, no turning either. Not just 1 set that still slips... Like what most you wannabes think a full locker is but is far from it. Good day new guy 👍💪
Why didn’t you go OH, IN, IL, WI, MN & ND up into Canada at Pembina or Portal? Roads were fine, abit sketchy in SK, but with that load you can drive in the dark in SK & AB. FYI: my fuel consumption was the same as yours. 565 Cummins.

Missing the longer videos for this adventure! Happy Birthday Captain! The big six zero?! Wishing you many happy returns. Can you show us around what your heat setup is? I thought you had a espar bunk heater - but it would be cool to see what your night setup is / how cold it is / how well it works / any issues with it. Sounds like bad timing for your batteries to be letting you down
I never watched ice road truckers but I like watching ice road heavy haul!
Captain that looks bone chilling cold up there. Be safe brother😎😎😎👍👍👍

you should go to Canadian Tire and buy a pair of traction mats .They might help when your wheels spin on snow .
cummins uses organic acid technology coolant, (O.A.T.) just look at the jug if it has O.A.T. written on it your good to go
