Congratulations on your upcoming retirement at work. I’ve been retired for eight years now and enjoy it everyday. Good for you and Eddy and Mark. I throughly enjoy your channel giving us something every week with what goes along with owning and operating a sawmill.
Hi Mark. Gorgeous scarlet oak lumber. One of the best looking boards too. I ❤ the" farmer's grade" too. Have a good Monday afternoon & evening the 18th. 🥰🙂😉👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌫🌌
I had my retirement coundown and passed a few years ago after working since the 8th grade. I love retirement and not puching a clock. CONGRATS ON THE COUNT-DOWN. I tauight almost 50 years combined military, university, middle and high school levels along with a HUGE amount of parttime occupations. The only thing I miss are the kids. I know you will think it's getting slower as the day comes into view but have patience. viewed in California
Good job Mark and guys. I got my Woodland Mill out the other day to saw up some utility poles a friend gave me. Not a good idea without metal detector. They were pretty wet with treatment too so learned some good lessons. Great lumber for what I wanted but a lot of work. Tell the guys Hi. Thanks for all you do.
Mark it’s black oak that is the most sticky and for the longest time right? Pretty sure that’s the oak I’m cutting for firewood is in my yard. It’s quite the welcoming smell after work. Or is that me lol. Well done today!
I might suggest , that you get a powered hand planer to remove the “ left-over “ undercut “ rag “ on the very large saw logs : a powered hand planner would zip off the corner of the logs in just a second or two .
I have watched every episode of this saw blade since it was installed : I noticed that ( in the sheen of the light reflecting from it ) , that the saw is showing the beginning stages of “ quartering “ where the tension of the blade might need for a saw-hammer to “ straight edge “ the saw and adjust the saw’s tension . When a saw “ quarters tension “ it is extremely difficult to hammer the saw back to right . 🤷♂️ I have 8 years of experience working as the sawyer and ( both ) working in the saw-filing room where the saw-hammer ried to teach me the ( nearly lost art ) of hammering saws . I assisted him with the saws and sharpened all the the knives , chipper blades and planer mill knives for the entire sawmill .
Nice Mark - Beautiful wood.... If i had a lot of that would i would make me a Texas Sherriff's Office in my spare Bedroom. Yep Beautiful thanks guys >>> from SE Texas Bear ❤💯🙏
Your description of cutting ironing boards. I remember when I was a wee lad,my mother birthday comes around. She was looking forward to nice gift from dad 😅He have her one. A new ironing board. I don't think this was what she was looking for.I still had two brothers at home,so plenty of ironing ahead 😅
That is some great and interesting grain in that log, ya never know until you cut it open, it's like opening a present every single day.....sometimes the surprise is well worth the wait, even with defects.😀
Mark, maybe you can contact a major oil company to sponsor you with enough synthetic hydraulic oil to do a change over in the mill. Cold temps wouldn't affect it and make it easier on your pump at the start. Hang the oil company's banner from the oil line support.
Those Stihl chainsaws are tough to stop. I was looking at that piece with the barbed wire ZZ cut off and I was thinking it would be interesting to split. Nice looking lumber come out of that log. You'd be surprised how many trees in our area had fencing in them.
Only Scratch'n Stiff circle saw mill in PA. Mark: "We've got a guest today in the cab. Rick,"....with his face polished bright Brass Knuckle jewelry, just another guy who loaned me money decades ago who happened to find me.
I would love to have those 1st couple of pieces. They would look real good for charcuterie boards. As a former carpenter I could turn those into some nice looking boards for use at the Winery I work at. How could I get you to save those for me?
Hey Mark, I have a few cherry trees that I'm considering getting sawed up. What do you recommend as a good generic, general purpose log length for sawing? I'm thinking 10' plus a few inches. I don't really have a purpose for it at this time, just want to have some lumber around for future projects.
That is a good number. However 8+ and 12+ are good even 6+ or less. If you just want some lumber, all lengths of it are good for something! Take the most the trees will give you. No two are the same. That's my two cents.
Is there a reason that you don't saw railroad ties from low quality logs. You could save the ties until you had enough to ship. Seems like you could make a few extra bucks.
Hey Mark, it doesn't matter what you guys cut, I'll be watching.
thank you.
That Money Board song has a really good rift to it. Another winner 👍
thanks Michael.

Woohoo we got a boom. 👌

thanks Dave , yes we hate sawing them because we spend more time getting the metal out than sawing them lol.
Yay for retirement! I do recommend it. But, it helps to have something to retire to as you do.
Good video Bus Motor Productions.
thanks James.
Nice saw. Looks like a Stihl. My favorite saw. I remember when I ran one cutting firewood and other things. Loved that saw.
this is a 311 with a 24" bar.
Nice. Have fun with it. Congratulations on your retirement. I retired earlier this year.
That oak looks pretty dry, no wonder it took Zz so long to cut the end off, much harder to cut when they are dry.
Happy Tuesday Eve!😊🪚🍁👍👍👍👍✌️
thanks Mel.

Jeeeece, Mark.....I didn't think you were old enough to retire!😮
Probably reaching the max or min pension point? That's my guess
I will be 60 this May and this will be my new job.
Nice log. Looks good and solid.
not bad.

12:30 some really great feature in that log. Lovin' it.
thanks Byron.

Nothing wrong with cherry, or scarlet oak, or big pine logs. They all turn into usable lumber.
Oak had nice grain and always get the slack out of a rack and pinion. Happy week and GBWYall !Q
thanks Lewie.
Great Video Mark ...... Congrats on the retirement countdown......only 456 days left for me but who's counting 😂
thank you , I can't wait to do what I want to do!

thanks Barry.
Good to see the "A"team at "work" on a brisk day.😊
thanks Ronald.
Not bored with the cherry, Mark. :)

very true Juan.

great idea.
Nice NEW debarred. Works good on that log.😂
true lol.
Do you have any videos sawing my favorite wood? Black Walnut! I don’t remember seeing any.
You don't need a top saw either. Y'all have exactly the equipment you need for the milling you do.
true.
Great Video>>BOOM, Man-Glitter & made something out of nothing 😎😎👍👍💯💯
thanks Greg.

I love my Stihl saws , I may split them up for firewood.
... Barbed Wire and Roses ...!
true lol.
😊😊 HI MARK I like 👍 😊 the red cherry 🍒 😊 and red cedar trees 🌳 😊 myself they look good and smell great 👍 😊 also 😊😊 OMG 11 18 2O24
Never bord with cherry but this was nice . Cheers
thanks , more cherry on the way.
Only Scratch'n Stiff circle saw mill in PA. Mark: "We've got a guest today in the cab. Rick,"....with his face polished bright Brass Knuckle jewelry, just another guy who loaned me money decades ago who happened to find me.
Surprised at the inside of that oak, a lil knotty id say but the grain is pretty nice
yes this is scarlet oak.
I love a Stihl chainsaw.
a great saw.
Hey Mark, how come no cherry? lol I love your videos!
more cherry to come.
It doesn't matter what type of log it is, you all will produce a beautiful stack of lumber.
thanks McKinley.
Check out Temple Hill sawmill. 62" blade, lots of nice big logs 😊
yes Shannon is running a 60" B-pattern saw , Mike McCoy's old Frick 01- C timber tiger mill pulled by a 671.
Z Z needs a RUclips channel
he just may lol.
wondering how ya know what your sawing next, what people order or what ya have more of
just what we have to saw and special orders.
You don't do 16' lengths?
we do but not hardwood.
I would love to have those 1st couple of pieces. They would look real good for charcuterie boards. As a former carpenter I could turn those into some nice looking boards for use at the Winery I work at. How could I get you to save those for me?
are you near us in western PA?
Question for you? Do you have much cedar in Pennsylvania? Or do you get the chance to cut much?
no we don't they are small yard cedars and hard to find.
You going to grow beard out like Eddy and ZZ
I don't think so lol.
Hey Mark, I have a few cherry trees that I'm considering getting sawed up. What do you recommend as a good generic, general purpose log length for sawing? I'm thinking 10' plus a few inches. I don't really have a purpose for it at this time, just want to have some lumber around for future projects.
yes the longer is better but make sure it is straight and cut it over by 4" to 6" for trimming after it dries.
That is a good number. However 8+ and 12+ are good even 6+ or less. If you just want some lumber, all lengths of it are good for something! Take the most the trees will give you. No two are the same. That's my two cents.
Full time sawmill? That'll be a change.
sawmill and shop.
@@markgalicic7788 I envy you Mark. I can't get enough sawmilling with my mill and the time spent in the garage. Damned job getting in the way.
you have a lot of lumber sitting out front
Scarlet Back Porch, after Granny paints your back porch red. See: Granny Talladega Nights.
🙋♀️👍❤️
thanks Sharon.

we never got into sawing ties just not set up for it.
Always good when you can make something out of nothing.
it's a great thing Richard.
first again
Second 🥈
you got it Gary.
5 yrs ago took the package the door didn't come close behind me
yes it's time for me to go.
My guess is you have a reason for the bar on that chainsaw being upside down. I did that once with mine and the oil passage wasn't right. Just sayin'.
💥💥🍔🍻🐿️
thanks.
Need a bigger chainsaw
no.
