I ran that same model for about five years. I'll give you a tip on making it easier to load/offload. Lock out the four wheel steering. You can operate the front, or rear axle separately. When both ends are steering, it's hard to to keep the machine straight, and you increase the chances of running off the ramps, or worse. Even when I was taking it on or off the rails, I'd lock out one of the axles. That machine brings back some memories for sure. That machine kills tires, but the grooving is normal. It actually increases the overall traction because it allows a bigger contact patch with the rail.

Top reason to own a Shuttlewagon 8040.
You can add a few stools and turn the center console into bar !
Doing burnouts with the rail wheels down, you can leave your mark for an even longer time !

Pipe to the rail wheel is for sand delivery to add traction

Well it looks like the time to find a parking place and wait for better road conditions. Use the generator or APU to avoid idling the truck? And turn on the heater and stay warm and watch a good video. And leave the 101,000 heavy load where it is until the trailer floor is free from ice. Bee safe and know your limitations..!!..

Suggestion could you cover your desk with a tarp to keep snow and ice off when empty

@@JohnSmith-ug5ci I meant just a cheap tarp, to put over the empty deck to keep snow and ice off while parked. That all I was thinking

@@marchalpeck470 I understand but he does not like carry any kind of tarp or dealing with them. In cases like that sand would probably be a possible choice.
