Not that I will ever buy a drone in this calibre, but watching all these epic shots still makes it feel like a well invested half hour of my time 😇 Great video!
Morten, terrific review, I like the steady pace of your description and the juxtaposition of pros and cons when discussing a feature/flaw. And of course, the imagery is always awesome to watch.
I'm not sure it's that big of a deal. Been flying this for months now, I've needed a focus puller twice and every other time just setting the focus was enough
@@mmcphotographyirl Are you kidding me?! I film sports and specifically moving people, not just mountains and scenery. This autofocus issue is a big deal! No one at DJI seems to listen or care. The motion blur issue can be dealt with by using 60 fps but the inability for the drone to automatically autofocus on a subject like the mavic 3 is a royal pain in the ass
@@hawaiifreespeechnews that's what the follow focus is for. Sure I wouldn't say no to a canon/sony like AF system in the drone, but that's not going to happen this gen.
@@mmcphotographyirl are you talking about spotlight pro? Spotlight pro is a hassle to set up and when you’re free flying trying to hone in on subjects, you’ve got no time to activate that feature. The inspire 3 got the case right, they got a lot of things right this time around but the camera x9 had a lot of issues! I feel they released it before it was ready. The motion blur and inability to autofocus on humans moving without the tedious and frustrating tap the unresponsive screen option is a huge disappointment. Maybe they will fix this issue in 3 years with a new x10 10k camera for this drone
Great review - as an inspire 2 and 3 owner... my experience has been very similar. Hopefully they can improve the tap to focus as well, have found it to not be consistently good. I love the new RC - amazing image transmission, all day battery life, and big bright display that's easy to see & cam op can be far from the pilot so that the pilot isn't distracted by director, DP, AD, etc.. The stability of the aircraft is so much better than i2 and basically no bugs with the app unlike inspire 2. The 24mm lens has a crazy amount of distortion in ProRes RAW unfortunately - would be great if they could release a new 24mm and 85mm that have a 6 stop ND filter built in similar to how it was on the 16mm on x7. Unfortunately there are not a lot of clients who are willing to spend more than the inspire 2 rate to upgrade to the inspire 3... the low light capability is the main selling point over i2 for director/DP.
6 stop ND filter is too dark, the sky is not blue like it’s supposed to be, 1-5 seems to be perfect for this drone. I’d only use a 6 if there bright glare
I agree the 5 stop filter is usually enough to keep the camera from blowing out images but it makes the sky and water too dark looking. The issue is with the x9 camera, not the lenses
@@oahuforjustice No I take that back, you need at least a 6-stop nd filter running at the lowest native EI possible in order to not blow out your shots especially when filming water or beaches or humans from a distance, they will turn yellow or orange, your water turns green or yellow and your beaches turn an ugly yellow
1. DJI needs to fix the autofocus. Why is autofocus on the mavic 3 automatic but you have to constantly tap the controller screen to focus on your subject on the I3?! 2. The I3 free lut is terrible compared to the lut we got for d-log on the mavic 3 pro. It’s extremely easy to blow out and over expose the footage on auto, this is not the case with the mavic 3. There is a lack of tutorials on how to get the best image without blowing out the footage on a bright day. Where’s the conversion software to covert 8k to 4K without losing all the details because you cannot upload a 5 minute 8k video to RUclips, the file is too big. Last thing, the i3 ND filters have been out of stock for months! We need that 85mm lens soon. Last thing, DJI needs to make the 4K 120 fps option a one button customizable option because it’s a pain in the ass to turn that mode on and off

A great in-dept review of the Inspire 3! I am flying from a month now with it and for sure I can agree on some of the topics for sure. Keep doing what you do guys!
I'm loving my inspire 3. There are some improvements I'd like, but it still blows my mind. The 24mm and 50mm lenses are great. Hope they release the zoom lens soon.
Regarding the weight limit of I3, it is a C3 class because it doesn´t matter what is weight of drone but what is its max possible weight. For I3 thats according to DJI approx. 4,310 g.
I have one arriving today, October 7. I think I’m going to return it. If I thought DJI would follow up and fix things that they promised when they sell a new item…I would keep it….but I don’t trust them.
Dump that thing ASAP and put that money into a real custom cine drone. DJI never fixed the plethora of issues with the I2 - hell, they never even fixed the battery issues with the I1 causing them to fall out of the sky. They don't fix, they just release a new model and tell you buy that instead.
8:00 I have to say, I don't think the audience cares about the jello effect. They just accept it as part of fast-paced footage. It's like motion blur Technically motion blur is a "distortion" but it is one that communicates speed and movement so we as producers don't mind it. I think the audience is used to the distortions of CMOS at this point in history.
It’s inexcusable especially since the mavic 3 can follow a subject keeping their face intact rather than a blurry distorted mess. DJI needs to fix this issue
My no.1 annoyance about this drone is his the waveform will tell you if you're over exposed in the preview lut on screen but its not actually repersentative of the log footage that's being recorded. A fix to this would be greatly appreciated
@memcrew1 Now that I know about it, I'm not. At first tho I didn't realise and it was frustrating trying to get the waveform to indicate a proper exposure. It would be far easier if it just gave the proper waveform for the format that was being recorded
Great point, you won’t realize how badly you’ve overexposed the footage or underexposed it with a dark ND filter until you get home and upload your prores footage in your video editor. The controller screen monitor does not display what you’re actually getting
Hello, i have an I3, i use step up ring 46/67 and 55/67 with a 1/5 stop polar pro MK edition. I really need to buy a 6/9 stop, 1/5 is not enough. The gimball move totally the same even with the step-up ring and filter. The problem is the step up ring turn and turn and never lock, if you fly with high wind or too fast ti feel like you can loose the filter in the air.
Hello ,my first question is how does rolling shutter compare to other DJI drones!!!! And what drone today is best performance avoiding rolling shutter?
Second question is flight times ; Billy Kyle says 17m, I believe it’s 17m or less without doing damage to battery’s, I would say more like 14 minutes, battery screen and cell monitoring? I have 100s of questions just about battery’s
Great review. Quiet entertaining. Great shots & Thanks for making it. And I know, not in the same class but I’ll have to stick to the Mavic 3 series drones for now. 😊happy flying. Surprising for $20k properly equipped, the rolling shutter and auto focus issues!

It's not the end of the world but it's one more pain in the arse that bugs people and holds DJI back from being considered a well understood industry standard drone for film.
Thanks for the very in-depth review. I have a question regarding the rolling shutter issues. If you shoot in the Super 35 crop mode will that make a significant "positive" impact on the rolling shutter?
I think the ND filter will malfunction in a drone because of the physical nature of flying. The ND filters uses a gear mechanism which will loosen due to constant micro shake and will malfunction.
There's a lot of ugly things about this drone but much of it can be attributed to the x9 8k camera which was apparently rushed out to the market before they could improve issues with the rolling shutter, the sensitive sensor blowing out shots that the mavic 3 could easily handle, and the fact that this camera is a master at low light but is god awful capturing sunny vibrant images such as tropical oceans. The drone itself is amazing! The x9 camera is the biggest issue! Hopefully the x10 or x12 coming out in a few years will solve these issues for another $6,000...
Just wait a few years when they release the x10 for the I3. Just like the upgrade of the x7 from the x5, it’s going to be an epic upgrade on the I3 but then we’ll have to wait 2 or 3 years for it

@@hawaiifreespeechnews not specifically, it's what was available when I bought it.
