This knife is way better in person! It’s not oversized in my opinion and the overall knife is just unique! Highly recommend this knife if you can find it and thank you Jarred for posting this so more people can appreciate this knife.
you still recommend this knife? I found someone who said the bearing cage kept breaking on his 87 happening three times so he got rid of it... But he said he's pretty hard on his knives dropping them on concrete etc...
Nice video! Cleared up a lot of info Benchmade wouldn’t share.. They’ve started milling out the handles even deeper now to hold the race AND bearing, with the blade completely flat on that one side. Makes install much easier because you don’t have to hold any pieces in place while putting it back together. However, you can’t flip flop the blade anymore like you could on these V1 prototype/first production run models, and you can’t swap a V1 blade onto V2 handles.
LSDMT where did you hear this? I’m not doubting, I just called benchmade because I have an 87 like how you describe and they said they have not changed their process, I’m worried I have a fake
Hope I didn't' miss it, but there seems to be at least two versions of this knife - V1 and V2. Seems like they changed the pivot in the 2nd version (VERY space info I can find but that's what people say)? Do you know more about this? And which version is yours?
I have a benchmade balisong very similar to yours (just with a different blade) the handles appear to be the same in design... anywho I have been having trouble with mine as it is getting loose and wobbly on the safe handle and I was wondering if you’ve experienced any problems similar to that
I have the 87 and had that problem for a bit . Flip your bearings and double check your bearing race make sure that little washer is facing the right way
They are sold online but it's first come first serve so the chances of you getting one online are smaller big brick-and-mortar location may have a selection to pick from
I just got an 87 a week ago it looks like benchmade changed the pivot system the blade is only milled out on one side instead of both on mine It makes me wonder if it's actually a fake or not I'm waiting on benchmade to get back to me if they actually changed it or not
*Press read more* Hey Jared. I have a question. I want to start with balisong flipping and tricks and stuff, but im not gonna get a real one, im only get a trainer one to kind of play with to relieve stress sort of. Anyways, do you have any tips for doing such flips and tricks? Any safety heads ups or something i should know about?
No real safety concerns if you're going with trainer the only real thing is practice and being able to get past frustration because starting out chances are at some point you will get stuck on something it's frustrating but if you continue trying you will succeed and then it's just fun a trainer is a good place to start however there is something to be said about flipping a live blade the concentration that is necessary when flipping a live blade is a benefit of a balisong you mentioned stress relief flipping a live blade is like stress replacement I think it allows you to remove yourself from the stresses of your Modern Life and focus on the stresses of not cutting yourself it's liberating
Did you notice the tang pins have screws in the top of them? Wtf is that about? The latch is different. The tang pins are a complete fucking conundrum take a VERY close look
