I'm fine with MMOs not re-inventing the wheel. I think to many try to and that's why they fail instead of just saying "What do people love about this game or that game" and then capitalizing on it. Alot of people say bleh to tab targeting old school types but for some MMOs it works and would be better while in some a action style would be better. Ashes of Creation gives me MAJOR Warhammer Online vibes. Amazing community engagement prior to release, tons of hype, looks solid and has A LOT of ambitious ideas... much like Age of Conan as well. Which to me, means its most likely going to fail, so I will keep my expectations very low so as to not get burnt again. Like I did with Warhammer Online, and Age of Conan Online, and Wildstar, and Rift, and Everquest Next, and Guild Wars 2, and New World... I've learned my lesson now.

Brighter Shore: The answer to bot is legalize the bots! Where did I hear something similar that before... I don't think it ends up well. Sarcasm aside, the game will 100% be reduced to idle gameplay.
Not all skills are bottable and the idle mechanic supposedly yields less returns than actively playing. It's designed to keep players from botting while not replacing botting in itself. While I'm not a fan of this myself, it's still better than the auto-play mechanic found in most eastern mmos
Chrono Odyssey can easily be the Wuthering Waves of mmos, I can see this being the biggest MMO as long as they dont fuck this shit up and make sure they pay attention to their players, honestly putting a price on it and having to get it for £50 like most other triple A games would be better than making it pay 2 win, While they'll have less players, they'll also have a more active playerbase rather than one that easily dies out

I'm no English but doesn't odyssey means voyage or something like epic journey? I know oddity means weird or strange, did you get mixed out between the two? Korean games always have really weird names for game titles, but I thought the name Chrono Odyssey was most made sense title of them all.
It appears Ashes of Creation is wanting to capitalize or improve upon a system similar to Black Desert. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it felt like having a second career. Which is why I believe Black Desert is stepping away from that concept and has been developing Crimson Desert that appears to be much more engaging in all the right ways. I anticipated at the start of of the video that you would cover it. I am mostly looking forward to Chrono Odyssey and Crimson Desert. I've been following both for a very long time lol. Thanks for sharing your insights^
I don't think it's dying I just think it's struggling, company's just get drawn in with monetization for money and consumers do not enjoy that. I stopped playing WoW for that reason and I played when it basically came out. The big delay for game releases came out when unreal engine 5 dropped. Eventually some one will be smart enough to bridge this gap but I don't see it happening any time soon. So many people dying for a good mmo rpg again. I have small hopes for things like "Ashes of creation" ect. But I don't know I'm deprived.
I participated in Alpha 2 for CORE PUNK but what a disappointment. I expected a lot from this game, the studio will have to continue to work very hard.
ppl get blinded by money when making video games now adays. Devs do not make their games for passion and fun they make it for a paycheck and thats it. Its rare to get a group of like minded passionate devs together to make a game bc most ppl are so hyper focused on money now adays
Most of the games on this video has auto play. Really not my style. Anyway if ur into "visiting a dying game" Content, please do visit Elemental Knights Online. Its a 15 yr old japanese game and still running. Still have tons of japanese active players too. 😊
Someone is going to need to look at what's come before, throw out 90% of it and take a massive risk. Like a gigantic time and financial investment over the course of years, on a risky new idea. With the way developer and publisher relationships work, that just seems unlikely. None of that makes me happy to say, it's just my take of course. But that take is based on the past 25 years I've spent either playing in or waiting to play in the MMO space. My real hope is that one of those smaller teams will reimagine the idea of an MMO to such an extent that it catches fire by being new, creative, bold and just happening to release at the perfect time. Getting to old to hold my breath for that tho 😂
Half way through the year and Chrono Odyssey is yet to properly showcase the gameplay other than some bits and pieces, I highly doubt it will be released this year..Late next year most probably.
Mmorpg had always and will always be my most favorite genre of games. Only reason I quit playing them is becauase the old ones have died, playerbase wise, and obly a few are remaining alive like WoW. But I have already played that for so many years that i am a bit done with this particular game 😂 but if takes sooooo long for the developers to give us a new mmorpg running on unreal engine 5 its almost unbareable 😂😂😂
To be honest, Ashes is gonna be the only one worth playing on this list. I remember the hayday of games like Archage, Aion, Tera. If they go the right way, then Ashes will be the best mmorpg of all time. Its not going to Kill WoW or anything because WoW is timeless due to its diehard fanbase, but it will take the MMO scene by storm, and quickly.
the only interesting is crono odyssey imo, the only one with actual interesting combat. Its incredible how after 10 years no mmo made progress on black desert combat system. until the fix the combat on ashes to be actual combat and not click a skill every 10 minutes it will never be more then a wow clone with better graphics
Why would you have flying mounts that only a small part of players can have? I know mmo devs want to constantly look like they’re catering to hardcore players, but casual players are a huge part of mmo player base, in any mmo, just screwing half your player base out of a feature seems like a bad idea? I’m a hardcore raider and I think this is a bad idea there’s plenty of ways to give certain players cooler stuff without screwing a huge number of them out of a full feature…
Brighter Shores here is probably the only thing that excites me. I love RS, but I can't stand the newer RS ownership. Corepunk seems interesting. Ashes looks lame. I don't understand the hype. I don't know a single pvp-driven MMORPG that has remained relevant.
Hey! To be correct :D Corepunk is not ARPG :D Eugene Kiver (producer) himself has explained this many times. They never called corepunk an ARPG - And it was the community itself that added that genre to the game. - So calling corepunk an ARPG is not true - The head page says "COREPUNK IS AN MMORPG WITH FOG-OF-WAR IN A SEAMLESS OPEN WORLD". Corepunk is simply an MMORPG. - True Oldshool mmorpg :D
Is it too much to ask for a 1 to 1 remake of L2, mu, RO, perfect world or dekaron.... like wtf are people..behind?! There are private servers still populated of those games and they ignore it making mobile games on pc...
Archeage 2, Chrono Odyssey and Throne and Liberty looking good, actually waiting for them to be out for so long , i just hope they will be good enough to scratch that "itch" for a mmo, i'm already tired of playing WoW over and over again.
Due to your comment I went and watched half of Josh Strife Hays worst MMO ever video on Villagers and Heroes. Why are you recommending a mobile cross platform garbage if an MMO with the "combat system version of a cloudy thursday" as JSH puts it.
@@Mrsneezy111 opinions are different from a person to another and I think it's a great game with no p2w and is actually rewarding when you progress through the game and had a great community and caring developers that bring new content to game constantly , I'm saying this as a player who spent 3.5 years into it
Dunno why yall are hopeful for a LOL mmo, LOL worldbuilding is shit tier generic fiesta of cliched from a bunch of verses stitched together. And MMO genre is far from lucrative, the Chinos from Tencent wont wanna release a WoW clone.
most of the mmos on this video is gonna die in the next 5 years after and soulframe is gonna still alive for the next 10 years when comes out !!!!! hell yes baby!!! mark my words!!!
I see everyone has the same sentiment; That the last 10 years has been ZERO viable MMORPGs. Not a single one that has stayed online or not P2W. The genre is dead for sure. WoW,GW2, FF and maybe 2 others is it.. and they’re all 10y+
Arche Age had more potential than any game I've ever played. However, the Devs and those behind running the game and making decisions concerning it RUINED the game and yes, many people will remember the many iterations of Arch age that were released and it was the SAME poor management OVER AND OVER again - so yes, I have NO faith in the game, and will NOT be making a purchase.

I expected a lot from this game, the studio will have to continue to work very hard.
blue protocol is not going to release, it was canceled
cant wait till AI going to change MMOs generates storylines and everything in the game and story progresses as players reach peaks.
Archeage and Archeage Unchained have been removed from steam along with all the developers notes etc etc
ppl get blinded by money when making video games now adays.
It's already been confirmed that they turned Blue Protocol into a giant pile of P2W hot mess.
been smashing out lotro these days , so good if you ra fan of lord of the rings
Stuff available to only a small percentage of the players? Nah fuck that.
We need an MMO like WOW and FFXI - with unlimited endgame content...
i think archeage could bring it back tbh they must of learnt ALOT from the first one on what the hell not to do lol
Congrats on another sponsor!
I mean.. a lot of people might hate that statement, but for consoles New World is your best bet in the foreseeable future.
CorePunk tests no. Alpha 3 will be July 1-7
No mention of Pantheon? It has been in development since the late 70's in all fairness, but I still have hope for it.
I am a solo player only, never done an MMO. Any suggestions for an MMO that a solo player gamer can get into?
Guild Wars 2 or ESO would be my recommendations personally, or OSRS (if you can get over the older graphics) :)
@@Waydots Thanks
I’m also a solo player, Guildwars2 is definitely good choice
world of warcraft for sure
You can play EverQuest 2 completely solo, and even hire NPC mercenaries to help you.
the only interesting is crono odyssey imo, the only one with actual interesting combat. Its incredible how after 10 years no mmo made progress on black desert combat system.
until the fix the combat on ashes to be actual combat and not click a skill every 10 minutes it will never be more then a wow clone with better graphics
map of archeage 1 not even complete yet archeage world map never finished
Soulframe is a new upcoming one you forgot
Why would you have flying mounts that only a small part of players can have? I know mmo devs want to constantly look like they’re catering to hardcore players, but casual players are a huge part of mmo player base, in any mmo, just screwing half your player base out of a feature seems like a bad idea? I’m a hardcore raider and I think this is a bad idea there’s plenty of ways to give certain players cooler stuff without screwing a huge number of them out of a full feature…
I think pantheon rise of the fallen should be on this list.
imho, fiesta online might be the best thing currently, and anno online was the best thing but got canceled
i heared blue protocol is shutting down and last date is January 23
From what i understand Blue Protocol is shutting down their game and is no longer releasing globally
Yeah unfortunately this list came out before the news :/
Brighter Shores here is probably the only thing that excites me. I love RS, but I can't stand the newer RS ownership. Corepunk seems interesting. Ashes looks lame. I don't understand the hype. I don't know a single pvp-driven MMORPG that has remained relevant.
Every UE5 mmo look like asset flip, lol. And archeage 2 is such a disappointment. I miss lineage 2 kind of pvp mmorpg
Hey!
To be correct :D
Corepunk is not ARPG :D
Eugene Kiver (producer) himself has explained this many times.
RIP Blue Protocol
Not a dying...A DEAD... I am back to SP games and never looked back.
Day 2 of asking you to play villagers and heroes
Due to your comment I went and watched half of Josh Strife Hays worst MMO ever video on Villagers and Heroes. Why are you recommending a mobile cross platform garbage if an MMO with the "combat system version of a cloudy thursday" as JSH puts it.
@@Mrsneezy111 opinions are different from a person to another and I think it's a great game with no p2w and is actually rewarding when you progress through the game and had a great community and caring developers that bring new content to game constantly , I'm saying this as a player who spent 3.5 years into it
@@Mrsneezy111form your own opinions instead of piggybacking off of a RUclipsr
@brontheills I saw enough gameplay to know I wouldn't be interested. Just not what I consider to be an interesting fun MMO experience.
I’ll definitely look into it!
Dunno why yall are hopeful for a LOL mmo, LOL worldbuilding is shit tier generic fiesta of cliched from a bunch of verses stitched together. And MMO genre is far from lucrative, the Chinos from Tencent wont wanna release a WoW clone.
Runescape always was for bots only.
There are crap loads of bots and devs don’t seem to care
ashes will kill everything on this list archage is dumb for releasing in 2026 thats when ashes might possibly drop
most of the mmos on this video is gonna die in the next 5 years after and soulframe is gonna still alive for the next 10 years when comes out !!!!! hell yes baby!!! mark my words!!!
4:58 the game is reminiscent of .hack not Genshin.
Mmo is just not a category anymore
I see everyone has the same sentiment; That the last 10 years has been ZERO viable MMORPGs. Not a single one that has stayed online or not P2W. The genre is dead for sure. WoW,GW2, FF and maybe 2 others is it.. and they’re all 10y+
Ashes looks phenomenal good.
The alphas have been amazing !
LOL!! archage 2 and ashes are still in development after how many years now?? i think it's been almost 10 years?? i gave up 5yrs ago
It really isn't a dying genre lol.
Corepunk got delayed because their studio got literallly bombed by russia lol
Arche Age had more potential than any game I've ever played. However, the Devs and those behind running the game and making decisions concerning it RUINED the game and yes, many people will remember the many iterations of Arch age that were released and it was the SAME poor management OVER AND OVER again - so yes, I have NO faith in the game, and will NOT be making a purchase.
None of these MMORPGs ignite my sense of wonder
I'm sorry to hear that bro :/
@@Waydots The burden of having played WoW Vanilla.
I witness the same feeling for story telling ever since i came across Witcher 3.
Too good can sometimes be a bad thing.
