A final request from a daughter to her dying father. “Defend me” such a simple line that speaks volumes
Viserys: Defend you? What is there to defend? A disobedient child a whore of an adult. And a Princess that has no ally's other than those she sleeps with.
You earned the predicament you find yourself in now.

The true father who loves her daughter more than his throne❤
And more then his other family
@@electricangel4488 It's tragic really. He loved her so much, but Aegon and Aemond were either ignored or clearly lesser in his eyes. Aegon fell into hedonism to cope and Aemond let the resentment fester inside his soul.
But he’s also living up to his dream, that a Targaryen would sit the throne during the Song of Ice and Fire. And he trust his daughter would have the ability to do that even if it means he has to seat her in the most dangerous throne of the realm.
@@randomcenturion7264 I believe some of Viserys's resentment of Otto and Alicent colored his treatment of his son's. He knew the Hightowers were shameless graspers. Especially to his other three children. Bet he didn't neglect his son when he lost an eye.
This was such a powerful scene. The way he came and forced himself to the throne to defend his daughter.
I cried at the announcement of Viseryses titles for what I believe is the last time. When Daemon helped his big brother and put the crown on his head so carefully, that was one of the best scenes in history.
He loved her above anything and anyone else because she was the only thing he had left of the one true love of his life. He paid no mind to his other children with the wife he never wanted to choose. He probably would've died a widower if his counsel hadn't pressed him to remarry.
Yes I agree after his lost rays mother he made it clear he wouldn’t only ever love her and that ray would be queen he held true to those words
I loved how he told them to put the matters of the crown aside and remember we are all family regardless
Exactly so!!!!!
I pity his other children. I would have rather they never been born instead of having a father like Viserys.
Wow 😳 Princess Rhaenyra didn't even want the crown 👑! She knew about the song of ice and fire prophecy.
🙌
Exactly she only ever fought for what was hers because of her fathers belief of the prophecy and that a Targaryen must always be on the throne. She only started drawing into battle when aemond killed Luc. So aegon wiping her history was pointless because she made sure her blood survived one way or another to fulfill the promise and prophecy of her father and aegon the conqueror.

@@lindsey7951 mate, when your advisors and wife are constantly trying to usurp you, one has to understand why a man would cling onto the only true family he has. @@lindsey7951well said. Op is being silly.
I think most people don’t realize just how much pure strength it took Viscerys to make it from his literal deathbed to the throne room…and it was his live that fueled that strength. I think he showed up for Rhaenyra right then because he finally saw just how many times he had left her to the wolves in the past. I don’t think he ever intentionally left her to the wolves through her life, I just think looking at her was a constant reminder of the hell he put his beloved wife through in her final moments. He was blinded by the need for a male heir, and in a way his showing up for Rhaenyra like he did before his death was a way of trying to make up for the pain and suffering his selfish ambitions caused his wife, and his firstborn child. He couldn’t turn back time and right his wrongs, but he could use his last flicker of life to show just how much he did love Rhaenyra. He simply couldn’t stand to look her in the eye after sacrificing her mother, his one true love, to fulfill what he thought was his destiny.
That’s what makes that scene so fucking amazing. It managed to recapture that sense of greatness that Game of Thrones had up until season 5.
This was a heart-warming scene. Even on death's bed, nothing can keep the King, from defending his daughter. He knew her children, were Bastards. But still his Grandchildren. He knew she needed him more then ever.
This was the most beautiful proof of love he ever showed. It was so emotional to see.

The fact Aegonknew Rhaenyra was really the true chosen one but still allowed himself to be king because his mother told him so. It's just sad, he knew it, everyone it but chose to ignore it

And to hear that he told Alicent while he was drunk that "I only loved once." Meant so much to the story line.
I just imagine how much pain he had to be in making that walk to the throne. Then to stand up again once that second son opened his mouth against Rhaynera.
THIS! He was a walking corpse and still showed up. The king was a gangster!
