I think this is the best live rendition of this aria I have ever heard.... the way she approaches those high pianissimo notes and beauty of the legato line makes her a top notch singer... also love her musetta aria from the met. i don't know why she isn't more famous than she actually is. She deserves better. Brava
I am speechless. I have to sing this aria tomorrow and this has totally changed my interpretation. Such subtle execution! I adored it. Back to the drawing board for me...
Otra vez Brava!!!
Bravissimo! The best performance from all the posted in youtube. Much superior to so called divas. Even thought the high C is not perfect, she really performs the character
a wonderful renditition but if you get the chance to listen to the Kiri Te Kanawa rendition you will love it as well. It features in the original Room With a View film.
I wish Puccini could have heard this beautiful woman caress his aria. Absolutely the best I have ever heard sing it. And the way she emotes after singing is heartbreaking.
Bravo. Haven't heard this much, but she's done it better than anyone I can imagine. I don't even _want_ to hear AG's version. (or anything else of AG now!) Good sopranos are a dime a dozen....
I watch most of the opera arias that you have and I really love the way Arteta sings this aria. The only things is that the video will stop playing in the middle of the song. Can you re- upload this video again?
I see what others are saying about her concentration and awkward body position. It's a fiendlishly difficult passage and I think her sound is very beautiful, tender as it should be. I however think the tempo goes a *tad* too slow.

I don't think it's always a matter of belting because they can. Maybe it's belting because they can't? As in, they can't control their voices to sing such a note in a delicate way. Just another way to view it. ;)

That initial high C was lovely! I'm so sick of sopranos SCREAMING that note. This song can either be sung beautifully or it can be butchered. Most do the latter. Arteta does not. Brava
no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion
You know, I don't think she lacks emotion, she sang it very well. Her range was the highest of any singer I've heard to date hitting the high note, but it did lack. I listened to it 3 times and it just wasn't the same. Not hating, just my personal taste
I thought it was fantastic. Just my opinion of course. The internet is filled with keyboard warriors critiquing everything in their path, so I don't take anyone's criticisms too seriously.

I know this was posted 11 years ago, but I agree. I haven't heard anyone sing it better than her.
As soon as everyone will listen the better from my wife))
That bit of the aria where the voice modulates.....it’s pure heaven. This soprano is wonderful.
Heavens, why have I never heard of this singer before! Thanks for posting this! It's a revelation!
I am speechless. I have to sing this aria tomorrow and this has totally changed my interpretation. Such subtle execution! I adored it. Back to the drawing board for me...
Pure glory!! "All the flowers of spring at your feet," Miss Arteta... she deserves it!
woo she sings incredible, best version from this aria I have ever heard. She just sang at Zaragoza opera and they tell me she was phanthastique
Squisita! Deliciosa! And I loved how she pulled off the alternate ending in this sublime production.
Wonderful in every way. Beautiful voice and lovely legato line and pianisssimi. Bravissima.
Otra vez Brava!!!
This is so beautiful, it brings me to tears.
My God! this is amazing! AMAZING! love it!!!!!!!!
Really love this rendition. Do not recall anyone else singing it any better.
Brava Ainhoa.
Great singer! There's no reason for her not to be more famous.
One of the most superb and yet highly underrated, under-used singers of her generation.
A breathtaking performance of a fiendishly difficult aria!
Saw Arteta in "La Traviata". Fabulous.
she's lovely, indeed, and a wonderful singer moreover!
Absolutely beautiful! I saw her perform this at the Washington Opera.
Sei sempre splendida.
I go back to the old Met on Broadway. I wasn't familiar with Maestra Arteta until this video. She ranks with the best.
I had never heard it done so beautifully since Leontyne Price.
Who is this wonderful singer I'd never heard before! Oh my god...
Maravillosa ""Aria"" y voz.!!
Great subtly and tender approach, gave me goosebumps
LA RONDINE is my favourite Puccini's opera. :)
What an instrument...simply beautiful, as the person before me stated.
Exquisite! Fabulosa!
Mesmerising.
Lovely! Brava! ❤
Interpretazione da brivido!!!
Wonderfully sung. What a voice.Brava!!!!
@drifter949 I'll have to agree with you a great voice full of color!
I had forgotten how gorgeous she sounded in this! Well, I was playing in the orchestra, so I didn't quite hear it like this, either...
What instrument do you play?
This is pure perfection ❤❤❤
Bravissimo!
The best performance from all the posted in youtube. Much superior to so called divas. Even thought the high C is not perfect, she really performs the character
Montserrat Caballe 💗
Listen to Caballe if you want the best .
Kiri Te Kanawa
The very best!
wow. I am not an opera lover, but I was moved by this.
Magnifica interpretación ,!!
a wonderful renditition but if you get the chance to listen to the Kiri Te Kanawa rendition you will love it as well. It features in the original Room With a View film.
attacchi e acuti meravigliosi...bella interpretazione
Breathtaking
I wish Puccini could have heard this beautiful woman caress his aria. Absolutely the best I have ever heard sing it. And the way she emotes after singing is heartbreaking.
Stephen Fletcher perfect description. “Caress”.
She is a real singer! She knows piano and has taste.
Wow! How wonderful she is!
Bravo. Haven't heard this much, but she's
done it better than anyone I can imagine.
I don't even _want_ to hear AG's version. (or anything else of AG now!) Good sopranos are a dime a dozen....
I love it! :)
wow this had me crying like a baby
A beautiful voice .
Que produção requintada❤
@simikess She played Musetta in the recent met release of Boheme, she is fabulous.
Wow. It's so prosaic to say it, but she gave me goosebumps. Beautiful!
selimsa803 Goosebumps on me too, really took me in.
so brilliant!
Exquisite
Beautiful on the ears and eyes! A pity there are such ignorant haters making comments - bet they can't sing or look this good
Just gorgeous.
BRAVISIMA AINHOA!!
I don't know if you've found it, but there is a video of a recording. She's wonderful too.
I was talking about the first high C that she sings which happens to be after the second A.
Sehr schön!!!
Bravisssssssssssssssssima!!!!!!
maravillosa!!!
check out Arteta's ballads- she really is the consummate "crossover" singer. Adore her!
RestlessRusalka, muchas gracias. Muy bella interpretacion.
Qué maravilla por favor.
what a godess!
I get the whole aria now! Thank you! Where can I buy this DVD?
I watch most of the opera arias that you have and I really love the way Arteta sings this aria. The only things is that the video will stop playing in the middle of the song. Can you re- upload this video again?
La amé!!! 1:31 - 1:56 😍😍😍
Precioso
bliss
This is a great version! I want to purchase it, but is this the picture and sound quality of the DVD, or is it modified for RUclips?
does anyone know if there is a vid of Moffo singing this?
Listen to this one. Same song, NOT boring :)
soragarria ainhoa.jarraitu horrela
brava!!!!!!!
@happyactor6 I think they scream it because it isn't easy to sing it piano
I see what others are saying about her concentration and awkward body position. It's a fiendlishly difficult passage and I think her sound is very beautiful, tender as it should be. I however think the tempo goes a *tad* too slow.
Ah chi bella, chi molta bella!
Lyrics to Chi Il Bel Sogno Di Doretta :
Chi il bel sogno di Doretta
Potè indovinar?
Il suo mister come mai
Come mai fini
Ahimè. un giorno uno studente
In bocca la baciò
E fu quel bacio
Rivelazione: Fu la passione
Folle amore.
Folle ebbrezza.
Chi la sottil carezza
D'un bacio cosi ardente
Mai ridir potrà?
Ah! mio sogno.
Ah! mia vita.
Che importa la ricchezza
Se alfine è rifiorita
La felicità.
O sogno d'or
Poter amar cosa.
She's from Spain.
I don't think it's always a matter of belting because they can. Maybe it's belting because they can't? As in, they can't control their voices to sing such a note in a delicate way. Just another way to view it. ;)
I have read that Freddie Mercury was astonished at the way Montserrat Caballe could is sing piano so beautifully!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Brava once more!!!
This is wonderful but only half way?
The Met needs her BADLY.
@vivegedda I just keep coming here to listen to it...... the only better rendition is a studio recording by Caballe
gosh the way Renata Tebaldi ...
Opera Chic, is that you!?
My goodness, she's the Sophia Loren of the opera stage!
That initial high C was lovely! I'm so sick of sopranos SCREAMING that note. This song can either be sung beautifully or it can be butchered. Most do the latter. Arteta does not. Brava
@vivegedda something she could improve in my opinion is diction ! The rest is superb
Una muy mala traducción al inglés
That corsé looks too tight >.
I think LA RONDINE is much better than TOSCA!!!
so forced.
no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion no emotion
You know, I don't think she lacks emotion, she sang it very well. Her range was the highest of any singer I've heard to date hitting the high note, but it did lack. I listened to it 3 times and it just wasn't the same. Not hating, just my personal taste
No emotion is quite correct, technically its good but try anna moffo for in my opinion the best ever recorded version of this divine aria
I thought it was fantastic. Just my opinion of course. The internet is filled with keyboard warriors critiquing everything in their path, so I don't take anyone's criticisms too seriously.
she looks too concentrated and stressed in reach the high note.....it`s just an ok performance....where is the passion on this performance?
