I was the one to tell CHCH about your story. I thought people should know about the goodness of some people. I think you should call the lady Hope. There's always Hope!
@@juliaveenstraartistit must be so very special for ‘Hope’ (great ‘name’) to be able to watch and follow this creation! Well done, lovely gesture for a very, very special lady ❤
I loved both paintings but Hope’s painting was even more beautiful! Perhaps just by being imbued with so much more meaning and feeling for the new owner. It was so lovely that both of you gained so much more from this frustrating and potentially negative outcome situation! A new friend and a new painting and everything else that finally fell into place! Great story! Thanks for sharing!
Another little suggestion from a mere "smaller" artist: I always put all the pertinent information on my work, such as my info, purchaser's info, etc, INSIDE the shipping box. In case the info on the outside of the box is destroyed, they can open the box and the information is also inside. Just a thought. *waving from across the lake, over here in Bowmanville ~~Catherine👋😀
Quite honestly, l MUCH prefer that BEAUTIFUL PAINTING you created for that honest lady than the original ’lost’ painting she bought at auction! Wow, wow & WOW!! It’s GORGEOUS!! And now she has a video showing it’s creation & we all got to see it in progress & then completed too! Thank you! I’m totally surprised you started out with red as a base colour. I’ve heard of artists doing this before but you really showed me the beauty of the foundation method showing through & all that layering & relayering of colour on top as you built your design, especially in that water was SUPERB! Absolute skill & prowess
So did I! Maybe a lot of gratefulness somehow got expressed in the second one. And watching this makes me wonder if I should have picked a real profession... such as painting.
How lucky is my fellow Newbrunswicker to receive this painting! We are usually a kind honest laidback people here in NB. So happy that you got your painting back and this lady is receiving one of your beautiful pieces of art! ❤️ from NB
It’s wonderful that you are giving the nice NB lady her own original but she also gets to see you paint it. What a treasure! You are also kind, I would have been livid about the loss and the lack of concern by the shipper! You are a model of civility in a crazy world
This has been such an interesting story. The new painting is wonderful. There's something about the red background that makes your paintings so very vibrant, almost like blood gives a blush to the cheek. I know I've gushed a few times about it, but I'm truly taken by it. Anyway, I'm really happy this story has a happy ending for both of you.
The painting is beautiful!. So colorful!!!. Even if it's a representation, you can still feel the fresh nature, as if it just rained (don't know why, but that's whant I"m getting from the paiting). The lady is so lucky because she got a painting specialy made for her. Nice story to tell for ages❤... oh and I'm secretly hopping that this painting would gain a very high value as well😊
I had no idea how artists move around on their canvases whilst completing their task. And a red background! Well, well, well! It does give it a depth factor when you lay on the forward, centre and backdrops. Loved the story and I’m sure the NB lady will love the fact that you videoed yourself actually doing her painting! A very nice addition to her gift of thanks!😊🎨🖼 ❤️
I looked up your Lost and Found painting so I could see what it was! Oh my Gorgeous! It is a God thing as one other person has commented. What a story and what a heartfelt story. Your East Coast lady is going to love her new rock and trees painting it is beautiful!! You both deserve the recognition ❤ what a story! Great interview too.
Excellent news Julie! I hope you will show the prodigal painting when it returns. If I was a journalist I would wonder how the painting counted as "lost" when it was in the shipping company's possession until they sold it. I would wonder if the misplaced goods that were sold to the auction house were checked first, and I would wonder if every piece had lost ALL of its labelling, including the addressee, the company's tracking number, and the sender details. Or were all the pieces just tossed to the auction house unchecked and no attempt made to contact the sender or addressee? And did the auction house receive the goods in their packaging, and did they also ignore any identification that might have been on the packaging? And if the goods were all unpacked by the shipping company before they were sold, that would constitute a fair amount of handling, so why not check for labelling? I get lots of parcels - the invoice and shipping papers are in a plastic case glued to the outside of the parcel and that glue is impossible to remove. I cannot think of an innocent account for this incident.
Ohhh thank you so much for the Follow-up of your Lost'n'Found painting! As well as for your 'Demo'!! cause I always love to watch the growing of a painting, especially yours, and, it turned out absolutely fabulous!
Amazing story. I think you are an amazing woman and a great human being. I saw your story on the news and recognized your work right away from a Gallery here in Uptown Waterloo. Your paintings are so beautiful, the colors are so alive and vibrant they almost seem to dance. Now I can watch you work on you tube and enjoy watching you create. Thank you.🌻🌻🌻
I had to stop at the "going to let it dry" to type this. I'm so glad this channel found me. Not only was I impressed with your tenacity, ferocity, and aLOT of kindness, but I'm now finding out how/why you paint like you do. I do not draw. I've always wanted to, but I can't seem to make it jell in my thoughts. Recently, I discovered a way to try again, and then you came along and began this video and displayed a new way to truly get some things down on canvas. In a way that I understood. I'm a fairly new Artist and still ragged around the edges, but I'm game to learn and keep trying. What you showed, to me, was that one can even plot a scene in an abstract way, and since that's my forte, I understood and plan to try. Now, back to the video. Can't wait to see what you do next. ❤😊
I’m so happy it was found and it was reported to the News, kudos for the wonderful lady to report to CBC and wonderful for the lady to return the painting. I love the painting you did for her. I will always be a follower of you because of this whole thing. A group of us are traveling to your area very soon and I’d love to see some of your artwork, there for I’m going to make it my mission to visit a gallery your art is in. I’m sure I’ll find something to buy and bring home! I Loved seeing the grand babies help grandpa paint the canvas red.
Good Job. Time lapse was fun to watch you! Your statement necklace! wowo w good choice! I noticed it the other day too with the Elena interview. Thanks for sharing with us all!
Loved that you revisited your cleat wall and red canvas with chalk outlines, that stuck with me from the first time I saw all that way back!! New painting is great and it’s awesome she’ll get to see its creation process. Also love your necklace in the interview, I love wearing leaves too!
Such a great story. I get it was beyond frustrating but the ending is so beautiful, as is your painting. This may seem odd but I love seeing how the edges surrounding your painting turned out. Gratitude and appreciation for sharing your process.
I love love love your paintings! Your last name is Frisian. I am Flemish (Belgian) but I live in Friesland and we have a lot of Veenstras here! Have you been here? If you come and visit I would very much like to meet you. Greetings! An
I'm glad this turned out so well. My question would be why haven't you called the police or whoever it is that regulates shipping companies there and told them about this. It sure sounds like the shipping company was doing something illegal if the auction company was able to buy 6 shipping containers of "lost" items from that shipping company. Fraud, tortious interference, theft all spring to mind. I'm sure there are other crimes associated with businesses taking your money for a service described but knowing they won't fulfill that service AND THEN taking the goods from that crime and laundering them to other good companies or people. That guy who called you back and offered to pay for everything was trying to avoid an investigation. Your lawyer might have a better idea of who to report this to, or maybe he already did.
I’m new to your channel. How early in your life did you realize that you could draw better than others? When did you learn about painting? Love this mini journey you took! I love meeting genuinely honest people without motives! The founder of your painting seems to be one of them! You were generous to reward her honesty with a special gift she’ll love because you did it for her.
I'm glad this all worked out in the end! The shipper having that many "lost" packages regularly sure seems like they were intentionally stashed so they could sell them and still keep all the money people paid to ship those things. I can't help but wonder whose pocket gets lined for deals like that.
I'm pretty sure the shipping company is Day&Ross. They are a massive freight company in Canada. Kind of like a mini FedEx or UPS. Based on the fact an auction house in NB was able to buy 6 trailers of "lost" merchandise, it sounds like somebody working at Day&Ross could be routinely diverting and selling trailer loads of shipped items. There needs to be a police investigation.

You have to do a lawsuit and call for an investigation. This needs to be exposed.

Does the painting that you’re sending to New Brunswick have a name?
Beautiful
Did I miss the title of the new replacement painting?
“Integrity is A Calling”
Awww. Love this.
hello I actually like your work and Im pretty picky- do you ever start with a blue canvas instead of red?
I am glad! At this point it’s always red!
Is this oil over acrylic?
It’s just acrylic.
What are you naming the painting for the lady who found your painting?
"West Coast kindness"😄... I just came up with that😅
Love this question!
🥰🥰🥰
You can call her Angela!
The auction house owes the money back.
