    1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 454 - The Last One? Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode #182
    The 1970 LS6 Chevelle featured in the video is suggested to potentially be the last of its kind based on the VIN tag and the date stamp on the trim tag. According to the information provided, it was assembled in Kansas City in the third week of July 1970, which matches the production timeline known for these cars. Additionally, the VIN number falls at the end of the sequence, indicating that it could indeed be the very last LS6 Chevelle produced for the 1970 model year.
    However, it's important to note that while this claim is plausible based on the available information, without comprehensive production records, it can be challenging to definitively confirm whether this specific car was the absolute final LS6 Chevelle built in 1970.
    Regardless of whether it's conclusively the last one or not, the significance of this particular LS6 Chevelle lies in its rarity and the historical context of being a high-powered, iconic muscle car from that era. The LS6 engine, known for its performance capabilities, was a standout feature in these Chevelles, making them highly sought after by collectors and muscle car enthusiasts.
    The car showcased in the video is presented as an original and well-maintained example, sporting the LS6 engine, a Muncie 4-speed transmission, and other performance enhancements typical of the SS package. Its black cherry color scheme, white SS stripes, and functional cowl induction hood add to its appeal, blending aggressive styling with high performance.
    Ultimately, whether this specific LS6 Chevelle is the last one built or not, it remains a prized and valuable piece in the Brothers Collection, capturing the essence of a powerful era in automotive history.

    The quintessential muscle car. One of the best in history. Love the black cherry paint and white stripes.

    One of the coolest Chevelles I ever saw was a ‘70 LS-6 in black cherry with a black vinyl top and black stripes, bench seats and an automatic transmission (on the steering column no less) that car sat and never moved the whole time I was in high school. Then it disappeared, flash 3 years later and it shows up at the house I was staying at fully restored. Turns out it was a one owner car, owner complained to Chevy in ‘70 that the engine had a “bad noise” since purchased, Chevy said take it to a good shop have it checked, had a rod issue evidently, since it was still within warranty Chevy had it balanced and blueprinted (paperwork to prove it)to fix the problem! Reason it sat was a transmission issue. My friend basically cleaned it very nicely did the usual repairs and had the transmission completely rebuilt and there it was! Btw he bought it from the original owners wife in 1979 for $850...true story

    very sweet color. I think a black Chevelle playing "Who are you" was what bewitched me on my first trip to Houston in 1995... Now I've just traded my rusty 1966 Mustang for a 1971 Buick Riviera with a growling 455-4 and fat tires. Big blocks rule !
    Keep on trucking (from France) !

    I had one just like that in 1976. Good memories and a lot of fun. Thanks for the video. By the way I sold my 71 Hurst Grand Prix to buy my Chevelle.

    Yeah I love those LS6 cars there's just something about them and what you quoted was from the factory as far as horsepower goes but everyone knows it actually made more than that you know I I think it's really cool if that is the last one of course there's no way to really know but I would say it's 99.9% positive that is the last LS6 ever made you know over the years I can't help but to wonder why didn't Chevrolet put aluminum heads on that sucker and shove one into a Camaro SS or Monte Carlo SS why was it so limited to the Chevelle not that that's a bad thing and I know there's been rumors of one Monte Carlo coming with LS6 but it's never been found so.

    Advance the timing, rejet the carb add slicks and this mid 13sec car is running in the 12s easy. Remember to set your timing back to stock after the race on the drive back home or it will run like crap for street use. To bad they didn't have computerized variable timing back then.

    70 Chevelles were the best looking muscle cars ever built. They ruined the 71-72 with those round in-bumper tailights and the single headlights looked very odd fir some reason on the front end.

    • @Sherman62
      @Sherman62 4 года назад

      Back when Chevelles were just old beaters, it was popular to put the 71-72 rear bumper on a 70. Best of both.

    Beautiful 70 LS6 car. It's sad that some of GMs best designs lasted only a year or so. In retrospect it is clear it was a mistake to have only one year with the high HP LS6. I think if you were building these cars in 70, andstill working for GM in 74-75 building chevelles, you would have been super disappointed and blaming top brass and dull engineers. Probably made some assembly line workers into alcoholics in the mis 70s lol.

      Morgan and Colleen Brady from what I understand, the demise of muscle cars had as much to do with new emission standards as well as higher insurance rates for high powered automobiles...aka the LS6 Chevelle.

    The only cool looking daily driver cars they make now are the Camaro and Dodge Challenger and further behind is the Mustang because its not as good looking any more. The latest Camaros and Challengers has cool styling that are right up there with the original 1st gens. The Mustang styling is nowhere near as good looking as the 1st gen Mustang. The mustangs bulbuos nose is just too round and ugly.
