RIP Eric Carmen, Go All The Way is a rock classic that'll still be listened to long after all of us are all gone.
AGREED, RIP😢
I loved “All By Myself” with bits of Rachmaninov in it!
My ex would torture her mother with that as a teenager. Then, going through my divorce from her, I would lay in bed late at night watching videos of Hungry Eyes and Lose Control on VH1.
Underappreciated talent.
saw him @Boston Garden; with Boz Scaggs and America...April '76.
It was too early for all of them, especially Eric.
This morning I had a very surreal experience. As I was making my morning coffee, the song by The Raspberries "go all the way" was running through my sleepy mind. I mused to myself: "Eric Carmen sang that song so beautifully. All these years later, that song still takes me back to the good times of my days in high school." I thought it strange that he and his famous song would come to mind. Then, I turned on my computer and watched Legacy. I was saddened to hear he had passed away. Rest in peace Eric. Thank you for saying farewell to me in a way that defies understanding.
Spiritual statement sir. Your words say alot about who you are.
@@jameswahnee-vn5nt Thanks for the nice and insightful comment. Blessings to you James
@sj-777 thank you. And you too sir.
Yes a very special goodbye ❤️❤️
Love that song, many memories!!
The Dirty Dancing soundtrack was all I listened to when I was 12 years old. RIP Eric Carman 😢
*Carmen*
It was my late mom's favorite movie and soundtrack as well. RIP Mom and everyone on this list. 🎉🎉🙌🙏🎉🎉
Carmen co wrote the song Almost Paradise for the Footloose soundtrack too.
@@lenajacobs501 May your mom's memory be a blessing. 💖
@@SewardWriter Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.❤
Eric Carmen...you will be missed....
Sing with the angels 💙🙏💙
70 years in an Iron lung and so many accomplishments Paul Alexander was as tough as you could be. RIP
Rest in peace Eric Carman….he was the soundtrack of my teen years!
Same! 😔
Carmen
I agree. I loved Hungary Eyes!
Mee too 😢
I’m a big fan of Eric Carmen, so saddened to hear of his passing
March 11, 2024) We are sad to report the passing of one of the unsung, great drummers of R&B, Everett Collins, known as the driver of the percolating beats of the Isley Brothers in the 70s and the smoother jams of the group Surface a decade later. But for a couple generations of students in Virginia, he was just the coolest music teacher around.
He was my son's band teacher at Toano Middle School. He created an amazing drum line! His Grammy hung in the classroom! Such a nice man. His favorite saying was "Cheese and Crackers!" RIP Mr. C. 💔
By any chance, is he related to "Bootsy"?🌹
PS- My condolences and prayers go out to you and anyone who genuinely loved and appreciated this iconic legend. 🙏💐
@@rhonnesanelms8969 He was so loved and admired! He was truly an amazing human being! I only knew his wife and daughter so not sure about a Bootsy. Sorry
@@rhonnesanelms8969It's a common last name. All I could find was Bootsy's brother's name was Phelps and he died in 2010. He might have been related🤷♀️
Thank you for sharing this information! ❤
One by one, each week, we are losing more and more of our music heroes from the 1970s. The likes of which will not pass our way again.
Yes that is true but their gifts of music will live on and on.
@@bigj6143 Thank you for your reply. You are indeed correct of course. Great music will stay great, always. But it's sad to me to see their obituaries....I guess maybe it reminds me I'm getting there myself.
thats good because some of their music was terrible

Can’t even imagine living your (almost) entire life in an iron lung. Rest easy, sir.
The father of one of my classmates had survived polio, and lived his remaining years in an iron lung…
Such a sad situation for the whole family…💔
Folks like this are an inspiration to all of us. Keep going for your dream no matter the circumstances! Every life has meaning!!! 💗
Rest In Peace, Debra Byrd. Such a beautiful voice and giving heart.
I remember her when she and Barry Manilow would be performing together during his tours and they were a powerful couple on stage and enjoyed their time together and they were totally awesome. My prayers go out to her family members along with Barry Manilow for the passing of a true friend.
@@conniedebruyn8045 Yes, what a great duo; there was truly a loving spirit between the two of them. Debra was always kind to us fans, to the point that one time she came and had drinks after a show with a group of us.
Rest in peace to all. I loved Eric Carmen's music including as lead singer of the Raspberries.
Everytime when I hear they are younger then my I freak out wondering why am I blessed to still be here ... Rest in peace
Yes , me too. I think I better make sure I'm doing , giving to others.
I can't believe Eric Carmen passed. He was a wonderful singer and was so proud to know he came from Ohio. May rest peacefully and eternally in the arms of the Lord. 🕊️🙏❤️
FAR TOO MANY DRUGS!!
@xavier...
You did NOT KNOW ERIC CARMEN PERSONALLY, HE WAS NOT A DRUG USER . He has a wife , children and countless relatives and close friends who are grieving a tremendous loss right now. Judgements like yours are ill timed at best and heartless at worst. I suggest you find your humanity and if you have any, some compassion as well!
@@vincenzowolfen4583all of what you say is true but unfortunately he will not be resting peacefully in the arms of our lord, he did not praise the lord on the sabbath, the lord does not make exceptions for anyone, so unfortunately as nice as he was he will be in Hell with the rest of the sinners 😢
@@vincenzowolfen4583 THAT INDUSTRY IS KNOWN FIR DRUG ABUSE. WELL NEVER KNOW BECAUSE THE FAMILY HIDES THE TRUTH. BESIDES WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HE DID IN HIS YOUTH! GET REAL! HE MAY HAVE STOPPED IN HIS TWENTIES! THE DAMAGE IS STILL DONE!
@@nomadsteve5297Christian woman here. ✝️. I have been to the other side. And let me tell you. You better be careful pal. One as judgemental as you may very well be dragged into Hell, way before the souls you have decided YOU have the right condemn there. The Lord has said.. NO ONE but God has the right to condemn anyone to Hell. He also says JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED. YOU have no idea whether Eric Carmen became a Christian or not. Or what he did on Sundays. But regardless, you might want to he a tad more concerned, and spend more time and energy with your OWN soul before spending so much of it, judging and condemning your brothers and sisters. You can preach on what's right and wrong. And for all sinners to repent and come to the Lord etc. You can and should spread the Gospel. All of it. Not just the parts you cherry pick to judge others. Stand and preach His Love. But when you point fingers at and judge and condemn specific people, especially those you do not know,... it is YOU who is much more in danger of the judgement. .. How's about you take a big long look in the mirror. And "pluck the beam out of your OWN eyeball, before sticking your grubby fingers in someone elses"? ..🔥
Im 55 and it is sad to see so many people pass away that were part of my childhood memories- in 10 years almost all of them will be gone - they were all one of a kind - i will miss those wonderful days gone by
I was just thinking and talking about Eric Carman. The sax solo from Hungry Eyes was the first I learned and it got me many dates back in the 80's.
We lost Eric Carmen? Damn. I've loved his work for years. I used to work at a girls high school and one year the graduating class used All By Myself to poke some fun at me. I thought it was incredibly funny. RIP, Eric. You're one of the musical greats and will be sorely missed 💔
Robyn Bernard was the older sister of actress Crystal Bernard.
Both beautiful ladies
Robyn Bernard got involved with alcohol and drugs.
Are they related to Maurice Bernard ?
Damn, I didn't know of Karl Wallinger's passing until this video. My Spotify favorites playlist is chock full of World Party tunes. Just yesterday morning, I listened to his great arrangement for Dylan's "All I Really Want to Do." R.I.P.
RIP Debra Byrd, you were a great talent and a great inspiration. You will be missed. 💛
Another great singer of my youth has passed away Eric Carmen. May he Rest In Peace ❤😢🌹🙏
Not much reporting can be trusted these days so I really appreciate you guys!
Omg!! I had a big crush on Eric Carmen,,he sang good with the Rasberries,,back in the 70s,,i was a teenager then,,wow RIP Eric..❤❤❤
Thank you once again Legacy for your accuracy in your reporting of one's who have passed away in death. Some of the deaths - thru your reporting - have given me knowledge into some people's lives.
I was just listening to Eric Carmen and watching his videos on RUclips recently. I always play Go All the Way by the Raspberries on RUclips music. He will be greatly missed. RIP Eric
Thank You for Sharing ❤
my older Sister and my older brother and I was just listen to Eric Carman yesterday on our way home from the store that is sad he just passed
For Akira Toriyama 🐉✪𝐙 RIP
Oh what a loss. RIP.
You said it DBZ. Forever
Eric. Man... I never got to see him live in person. One bucket list checkmark never to be filled. I have a lot of his vinyl. RIP, bro.
I met him and all of the great members of the Raspberries. He was a gracious and kind man that did countless things for his friends and his fans and did it without having to have it hyped up on any social platform. I will NEVER forget what he and each band member did for my dying sister!
I'm not showing disrespect. I'm just mind blown how anyone could survive 9 concentration camps. Everyone I've personally met, and all of the various documentaries made it seem like it was one and done. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone being in 2, much less 9. I hold all survivors in the highest regard. That just blows my mind. 🙏🏻
My favorite song from Eric Carmen is Hungry Eyes from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack!!!!
rest in peace Akirra Toriyama and Eric Carmen
I hadn’t heard about Malachy McCourt. He was the last of the McCourt kids. I’m so glad I decided to watch this video.
RIP to Malachy and to Eric Carmen.
Thank you again for presenting such a dignified and eloquent memorial.
Eric Carmen, your music will be your legacy to the end of days.
✝️🙏🏻🕊🔥❤️🎼🎹🎙
R.I.P ToriYama, You were a part of my childhood growing up😢😢😢
Eric was a musical genius, a true Marathon Man, and a humble compassionate human being. He deserves higher recognition by induction into the Song Writers Hall of Fame, as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. My deepest most sincere condolences go out to Amy, Clayton and Kathryn Carmen; as well as his brothers from another mother-Wally, Dave, and Jim! Rasberries manager Al Kasten , back up alumni Jennifer Lee, Paul Sidoti and Billy Sullivan and especially Close personal long time friend Bernie H. May Eric join the rest of the amazing Musical Group in Rock and Roll Heaven, a concert I hope to be blessed to see in my future after my own time on this earth is done!

@@williamwilson6499 I know, of course HE WAS DEFINITELY NOT an ingenue BUT unfortunately my auto correct felt it should override genius! Having met Eric personally, I was truly very much grief-stricken when I had made that initial comment so didn't re-read after I had posted. It was an unfortunate typo and definitely NOT intentionally meant as you assumed it was...should be all good now though.

Loved The Gap Band!
"I never ever had a lover put the pedal to the metal an-a/Burn rubber on me... Charlene...oh na na na-noo!...."
Eric Carmen trained to be a concert pianist. He used some of the music from Rachmaninoff in composing some of his songs; such as "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again,"
Eric used classical music bits many times in recordings, not only his own. He worked with Christie McVee on "This Love"and other tracks from her records. He showed up on a LOT of other people's records. I think he even worked with KISS on their"Destroyer" album.
May they all rest in peace
Another legend of the King 👑 legacy finally having her Angel's Wings. Rest in Eternal Paradise!!!
OMG hadn't heard about Karl Wallinger and Eric Carmen. Loved World Party's Ship of Fools and Carmen's She Did It. Carmen also wrote Never Gonna Fall in Love Again, which was a big hit here in Australia for teen dreamboat Mark Holden.
A legend of Japanese anime, Rest in Eternal Paradise.
Hungry Eyes,All By Myself,Boats Against The Current,Make Me Lose Control,I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips,Yes I loved Eric Carmen.Ill miss him.
Olivia covered Boats Against for her Too Hot album that had Deeper Than The Night and A Little More Love as well.
I loved Eric Carmen back in the 80s. He was the soundtrack of my very young adult years.😭
Another great singer that passes away. RIP Eric.
RIP Robyn Bernard & Eric Carmen🕊✨️🕊🦋
God bless all of the deceased 🤎🪽🌻
My mom contracted polio when she was 8 (1946) she was in an iron lung briefly, but went on to live a full life, she passed in 2020 from complications from “post polio syndrome”. She clearly knew of Paul Alexander (it was kind of a tight community) and I’m sad to hear his passing…but damn, he was amazing!
Debra Byrd has been a inspiration to all of the American idol runners uo and winners. RIP Debra.😢
Thank you.
My first concert was Eric Carman, back in in the 70s. I was about 15. It’s also the first time that I saw/smelled marijuana . I remember having a great time. I didn’t partake in the joint that was passed to me; it would be another year before I actually tried it. And I liked it ! I’m 62 now, and still enjoy some “green”. Have a wonderful weekend, folks !
You were one of the toddlers I saw playing in the back yard on warm days out of my fifth grade classroom window. Our classroom had a Gemini and Apollo spacecraft model; yours probably had Skylab. Biggest difference between us: I learned multiplication and division tables in fourth grade, you probably never saw them. "Go All the Way" came out when I started middle school, "All By Myself" and later tunes (such as "She Did It") were out when you were at that concert. I never got to see him, I always had to work and was always scraping pennies. BUT -- to quote Pearl Jam -- I -i, ohh - oh, I'm still alive!
Hey i remember "Living in America" great tune.
Rest in peace, TM Stevens.
RIP to all. 🙏
God bless you all, and may you all rest in peace 🙏
Can't believe Eric Carmen is gone...😢

Dang TM Stevens. One of my heroes. He created some great grooves with Narada Michael Walden. Dementia took him. My father is 91 and is suffering from it. Slowly my dad is disappearing right in front of us.
Paul Alexander--- what an amazing man. He could have so easily given up but instead lived his life to the fullest possible for him. Paul and Steven Hawking..... What are our excuses???

Ben Stern, may your memory live forever.
I watch Legacy to remind myself I will make the same journey, as the ones in these videos. Each deceadents' stories keep me humble.
Me too...I want to always understand that my life is just a short pass on Earth. Every day is a gift.
I had the pleasure of working with Paul Alexander when he was a patient in the hospital and I was an RT at a hospital he was a very nice man. May he RIP.
I read about him not 3 weeks ago. He was inspirational. He defied the odds to get where he did, proving you can achieve what you want with hard work and determination. He overcame the worst life could throw at him. I'm of an age where I remember that dreadful disease and knew three people affected by it. Two wore calipers to help them walk and the third had a withered arm. I still remember my mother taking me to the doctor to get the polio vaccination by injection, then getting the boosters on a sugar lump. Largely under control now I hope that is one disease than never rears its head again. I hope Paul is running around heaven now. Extremely courageous man.
I’m still really in shock with Eric Carmen’s passing. He was a great music legend and his music will forever live on. My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to his wife and family during this tragic time.
Eric Carmen RIP your music is such a part of my teen years and nostalgia now.
Rest in Paradise. Prayers and sympathies extended to all the families and friends.

They failed to mention one of Eric Carmen's best solo works "Sunrise", probably because it only charted at #34. It's much better than other pieces of his work, IMHO, and deserves a listening to.

@@Edward-bd8iy yeah that has to be the most surreal tragedy at the time. The deeper you dive into it, the less you want to know.
@@martinjaramillo2429 The entire "What's Goin' On" album, along with "Trouble Man" are my Marvin Gaye favorites. I was 11 when those tracks came out. My mom said that "What's Goin' On" sounded like a radio pulling in two or three stations at once in the middle of the song. A radio DJ played "Mercy Me(The Ecology)" all the way to the end, then came back with "Sending it out with The Klingon Backup Choir...." Yeah, it was a whiteboy DJ in 2004 or thereabouts. Idiot! What kills me is how little we've learned from the messages found in the songs by Mr. Gaye, Timmy Thomas, Curtis Mayfield and the great artists of the early Seventies; it came naturally to me...

I was born a few months before Eric Carmen and also live in Cleveland, OH. Years ago we caught him in the audience during a rock concert at the then Hard Rock Arena (now MGM) in Northfield Park, OH. My generation is dropping like flies, darn! There was a video of The Raspberries from a 1970's tv appearance on The Mike Douglas Show. Eric was interviewed and stated that he is from Cleveland and an aunt of his is a member of The Cleveland Orchestra. He has a classical music background which helped him. When asked if his family was disappointed that he did not choose a career in classical music, he replied that having a few hit records turned them around.
