its Chevy Cruze so it isnt like a Ferrari or anything that got hit with that tire. So of course that car can always get replaced. Heck, that tire did her a favor now she can get a better car now. 😂
I would imagine someone would want to buy her car "as-is" and never repair it. This is a super-rare event and surely that car is now worth more damaged.
@@Jumalten001 Oh come on, all she has to do is mention the s word and b word and they would change their mind. To her credit she did neither and I admire her for that.
Just started watching 5 minutes before that wreck and then saw the tire go over the fence and was like o dear where did that land ......glad to know it didn't hurt anyone one Hope they help the women out
Mary, mother of God! Flying racing tire outside the catch fence into parking lot. Luckily, she's still okay, but her car is busted. Damn, if the racing tire hit the crowd of INDYCAR over 230 MPH, it'll cause casualties like 1955 Le Mans Disaster and reference like "The Final Destination 4" movie, when 2 tires loose into crowd and goes panic of NASCAR Late Model Stock Car races of McKinley Speedway.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought there was a IndyCar mandating that suspension pieces including the had to be tethered to the chassis to prevent flying debris into the stands.
There is. The impact hit at the right angle and speed to sheer the cable away along with the suspension pieces. Series officials will likely have a long look into whether or not the cable/mounts need to be revised.
You are correct but the impact was so serious it ripped the entire assembly off. Really a freak accident and luckily no one was harmed. You are right ✅️
There are actually 4 tethers per wheel- one on each of the a-arm legs, and the size of each was increased by 60% this year, and the lifespan was reduced to 2 years from 3. I'll know exactly what the reason for was for the detachment in a few days.
Red flags and accidents is what most peeps go to see, otherwise boring watching cars go round and round for hundreds of laps…Vroooooooom. Vroooooooom Vroooooom.
When I saw that crash, and the Tire Flying off...... "Oh, JEEEZZZZZ!! OH NO!! I hope that doesn't hit anybody!" And when I saw the tire Clear the stands....I hope it doesn't hit anybody on the lot. BUT Glad NOBODY, driver, fans, people in the lot didn't get 'eaten by a tire!!'
Or (and I know this sounds crazy) inside of 10 laps or so, it ends under yellow-like it used to be. I know people don't like ending a race under caution, but a red inside a few laps just leads to crap like we saw yesterday. Plus, what happens when they've got a caution right at the end and while they're puttering around under yellow, the leader runs out of gas.
I went to the race, I am a fan of having all cars having a chance to win. Having a red flag resets everyone to even Steven. The people who complain either hates real racing or loves Nascar boring races. The 2023 Indy Race was GREAT for fans and drivers who love competing in the Greatest Race of all. 300,000 fans loved it and some hung around for all the festivities. WRTV tried to soil the race on this report. Fake News abounds.
" I am a fan of having all cars having a chance to win". The logical answer, then, is to have a mandatory caution with 10 or fewer laps left. Because everybody should have a chance to win-even if they're almost a lap behind with 5 go to. "The people who complain either hates real racing..." Three red flags in the final 15 or so laps isn't "real racing". It's a sop to people who can't understand that sometimes, races end under caution because that's what actually happened.
They used to end under caution all the time but when you have multiple cars in a crash and safety workers and ems you have to stop the cars and it's sometimes a judgement call when I started racing you raced back to the caution flag at the start finish line sometimes that changed the race completely
No the people complaining like pure racing and don't want Indy to resort to NASCAR generated drama like the multiple last lap shootouts that happen damn near every week in NASCAR, what they did yesterday was right out of NASCAR's playbook not the opposite. Your comment makes me question how much you know about racing. I've watched every 500 since the 80's, watched IndyCar/CART, NASCAR and F1 since the 80's so I'm coming from the standpoint off being a fan of racing not one series over the other.
@@chrish931 I really don't care which way it goes I don't like the way nascrap has gone and as far as Red flags go I think myself the race shouldn't be stopped unless it's a safety concern like a car upside down or garbage all across the racing surface from a wreck I've been around racing since I was a kid and I'm 61 I've seen many rule changes and caution flags and things you wouldn't believe to get the right car in victory lane

@Chips Rafferty IMS put on one heck of a race trust me I was there. No complaints needed. Everything went off without any injuries that were life threatening. Great Job IMS 👍
So glad the lady who’s car got hit said, “It’s just a car.” Really good attitude about the whole situation and thankful that nobody go hurt!
Best dressed too...imo

Sorry to see the little girl get a little hurt. Great attitude by the lady who's car was damaged. Best of all, no one was seriously hurt.
Amen 🙏
she didn't seem phased by it
I think she was more excited about it than hurt. She will be sharing her story for life!
Poor Snowball.😢
Soooo lucky it didn't go in the stands. It would have easily killed people

She deserves that tire as a trophy!
Put that car up for sale "as-is"! Surely some super-rich Chad will want a piece of trackside history and pay extra for it.
Her car has got to be worth a fortune from a racing museum!
Tether didn’t fail, the wheel broke off at the hub.
Have to make the fence higher. Lucky no one was injured or killed by the wheel
Her call to the insurance company: "You wouldn't believe this, except I've got video..."
Give that lady the Corvette pace car
I think they should put Snowball in the Indy Museum she saved lives that day
Robin was wearing the best outfit at the 500...imolol
Man, you just never know. If that would have hit someone, it’s game over!
what a miracle !
indy 500 epitomizes the american sports spirit
big, tough, brutal and raw
That would’ve def killed someone on impact
Someone try multiple people if it when into the stands
She got a free brand new car 😂
Almost a repeat of 1998 and 1999...
I would have asked for the tire.

Makes you realize how uneducated people are when they call this a tire. It's actually and wheel and tire assembly.
Actually, it is a wheel, tire, and upright assembly.
