Oyster River is my favourite rock hounding spot lots of good stuff quartz, epidote, flower stone. Pair of shorts and an old pair of runners dive right in on a hot summer day the water is so clear its easy to see the nice stones on the bottom. Even found a nice chunk of quartz with what I'm pretty sure is gold veins running through it, cut the face and polished it looks nice on my shelf.
Love that you went here !! I have panned that exact spot where you were and have done up the river to the fork.. the Gold in the river is very fine , it get pretty smashed up in the pothole's . There are some former placer claims I can show you that are further up the road.. AND that GATE gets smashed so much they quit locking it.. I also found a Japanese placer camp , used in the 40's during the war era . apparently they supported themselves for a few years.. Mabey next time your over we could go pan some ??

@@wellwoodulookatdat4933 Ok. But Don says on his vid that placer claims are on Piggott Creek, and none can be obtained on the Oyster River. So what you really own are 3 mineral titles on the Oyster (as you correctly write on your sign), not "placer claims" as you say you have in your comment above. Is that correct? (by the way you mixed up a number on your sign apparently)
Dan Hurd there are some big, deep holes without any scary current, and great visibility. People use suction hoses to get gold sitting on bedrock. It seems it would be a little hard to get the gravel right against the bedrock with a shovel. I don't know the rules, or the methods, but I'm a very good diver.

haven't been to that bridge in quite a few years there never used to be a gate.
@@ant-1382 havent seen the gate on the bridge closed in years myself. Usually up there a couple times a year..
There are placer claims on the river, I own three of them and have had a claim jumper with a high banker set up camp, not cool.
