How awful was Bellatrix’s descent into madness ?

  • Bellatrix Lestrange's descent into madness can be attributed to a combination of her inherent unpleasant and bigoted nature, her deep involvement in the Dark Arts, and her fanatical allegiance to Voldemort. The 14 years she spent in Azkaban further exacerbated her mental state. It's worth noting that she never received the Dementor's Kiss, a fate that might have left her as a "vegetable".

      @@jihanessa4132 This is in reference to the books: she didn’t murder Fred (it’s suggested it could be Rookwood) and we never saw the duel between her, Tonks and Ron. It was mentioned, but never seen, as Tonks mentioned that she and Ron “definitely injured Rodolphus” in Ch5 of Deathly Hallows.
      However I do agree that the lack of her duels in the ministry scene robs her of a lot of her character. We see very early on that she is a more than capable duellist, and arrogant with it too given the way she taunted Harry. That whole section of the film was a let down because those two chapters (35 and 36 of Order) are just wonderfully done in the book and have so much foreshadowing. Even the duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore was a let down really, considering Voldemort and Dumbledore were talking throughout the whole duel. Let’s hope the show gets that’s right - even down to the centaur, headless wizard and the witch pinning Bellatrix down.

    Idk why most fans think of Bellatrix as of a mad witch, if we don’t take Helena’s performance. In the books, she was nothing like that. She was arrogant, sadistic, a bit impatient, but crazy? Where? When?
    Also, I think she didn’t have kids because she prioritized the war or simply rejected her husband. As a powerful witch and Voldemort’s best lieutenant, she could have the power to be the boss in their family. Plus, she was in love with Voldemort, so why should she sleep with Rodolphus?
    But I’d like to thank you for mentioning Voldemort’s feelings about her death and closing eyes on her failures. She was clearly special to him and that makes both Bellatrix and Voldemort more complex characters than just ‘evil wizards’.

    Bellatrix and Voldemort most probably had a coitus, if not, then there is unexplained part of the book, that's not making sense. "my lord! my lord!" But the Cursed Child deserves a revision, rewriting or erasure, replacement... Why wouldn't Voldemort use or rather abuse such desires and needs like Bellatrix has? He was always briliant and charming manipulator. For Voldemort to have a child could have much darker reasons, than for ordinary abuser.

    I think Molly used "reducto". It makes sense to me because if she used avada kedavra from what we know it basically just sucks the life from them and there is a flash of (green) light. Bellatrix basically shattered. Not only is that more a characteristic of reducto, but it also makes sense due to the fact that her only daughter uses the same spell to great effect which is pointed out a few times and rule of thumb is nothing is done accidently in film/books soo.... what reason other than to show Ginny is kind BA at magic and "scary" would there be to use THAT spell and then have Molly use some seemingly random spell that has the same effects...? That's just my thoughts on it though lol

      Also, Mollys disposition suggests that even in such an anger, she would never use an unforgivable (illegal) curse..but reducto is not one and allows the same effect of "never touching her kids again"... also, she would be used to using spells in unique ways I think just from having as many children as she does. I agree with practically everything about bellatrix though. Great video!

I picture Voldy staring at the wall or headboard during the procreation process rather than trying to inject any romance into the act. he would have wanted a child to continue his bloodline and dispensed with anything but the old wham, bam thank you ma'am. Did your mother tell you as a young teen that if you kissed a boy you would have a baby? Well, some of ours did.

    Apparently only her mother and Phineas Niggellus (very slightly)

    • @SessaV
      @SessaV 9 месяцев назад +3

      So we have a decent amount of inbreeding on my mother's side due to the old tradition of marrying cousins to keep property in the family, and we also have mental illness.
      Almost everyone suffers from something, but most are easy to mask. Anxiety, depression, narcissistic personality disorder, addiction, even my own bipolar disorder. It's drilled into us to not let the world see your crazy.
      That being said, every other generation one person in our family ended up institutionalized, usually for schizophrenia. My 5x great grandpa, my 3x great grandpa (he actually shot someone because he thought they were talking bad about him. He claimed the iron bars of the prison were trying to attack him when arrested. Being one of the richest and most powerful people in his area, he was sent to an asylum instead of facing trial). My great grandma was in an institute until they shut them down. My uncle was sent to a prison for the criminally insane for terrorism after calling the police and saying he was going to attack a post office. He wasn't, but the voices were trying to get him to, which is why he called the police. We've got strict terrorism laws in my state, and he technically threatened a federal building.
      Actually my families mental health is what lead me to study psychology. Working on my masters now, then hopefully going into my doctorate.

    I don't think she uses the killing curse on Bellatrix. That would defeat the purpose of the character. I think she used some kind of expansion , explosion or desintegrating spell and that in conjuction with the spell Bellatrix already was under created that effect. We know that the 3 forbidden curses don't make bodies disappear. There's plenty of deadly spells in HP that aren't deadly curses. The distintion is if a spell can be countered or not. Deadly curses can't be countered. Other spells can. The fact that she has to immobilize Bealltrix points to the fact that she didn't use a deadly curse, she had to take Bellatrix'ss ability to counter her spell first, something she wouldn't need to do if she was going to use a deadly curse.
