Finns advice really rings true. I always believed I needed a cool chick that took music as seriously as I do. On my first date with my now wife I nervously asked her who her favorite band was. She said “I can’t remember what they are called.” We’ve been very happily married for 5 years. Turns out a little balance in a relationship is a good thing.

Well done. Out of all the descriptions offered here, “Deftones girl” objectively sounds the most appealing to me by far. And that’s what I’ve had for over 5 years.
“Make sure she doesn’t like anything that you like. If she likes the same things you like, she’s probably crazy.” That’s the advice 20 (and 30…) year-old me needed. The woman who messed me up most/most recently put on a Tool album the first time we hooked up. AND SHE HAD A PET POSSUM.
I once had a coworker back in college who was like “oh you like Green Day too?” while I was playing music in the kitchen (we worked at a BBQ restaurant) and since that’s my favorite band, I was already kind of curious about her. I mean, she was definitely cute, but hearing her say that and naming a somewhat obscure song of theirs as her favorite (Whatsername) definitely caught my attention. Long, complicated story short: we eventually started hooking up, but then it got really fucking messy emotionally and ended on very bad terms. She winded up breaking my heart. She was also a total nutcase.
I feel like with these types of videos I get a real lesson on American culture from Finn. Vacations at "the lake", "military wives music". All absolutely fascinating.
It’s especially resonant with California. Anytime he brings up “the river”, he’s talking about (I assume) the Havasu / Laughlin area. In Southern California, you either go to the desert to ride dirt bikes or the river to go boating. It’s like this dude has known me my whole life 😂
It’s 2092. A beautiful woman is by the poolside wearing a Nirvana t-shirt and a bikini bottom. A young man nearby is playing “Lithium” on an acoustic guitar when she catches his eye. The young man compliments her on her outfit. She says “thanks, I love this clothing brand. By the way, what song is that?”
I think people overvalue having a partner who likes the same things you do. My wife’s taste in music and movies is pretty much exactly opposite of mine (though we have some overlap). It’s way more important that you’re with someone who shares the same values as you.
Same here. And over time we’ve come to find similar entertainment products we both enjoy which is cool If you’re basing an entire relationship on your preference in entertainment you’re in for a bad time imo
I was just thinking this. To be fair, my bf and I do have a lot of similar tastes, but we also have a lot of areas where we differ. I went out to a goth event the other night and I got all dressed up and danced, and my bf went somewhere else with his friends as the goth thing is absolutely not his scene. I left the event thinking that I really love and appreciate him for just being himself. For not going to these events with me and trying to fit in or force anything that just isn't true to himself. I really like that we can have some interests that are so different and it allows us to have lives outside of our relationship.
100% agree. Up until I met my wife I had been a gigging guitarist in mostly post hardcore/prog metal/metal core bands for 15ish years. We are polar opposites with our music tastes, although there is overlap. Movies and art we agree on mostly. The one thing that has been integral to our marital success has been shared values. She may hate Meshuggah. I may hate Billy Eilish, but we both agree on the values we are instilling in our children. So yeah, shared values are really important. That and having a killer sex life.😊
I think it's still fairly important when you're younger, since you're probably more active and actually engaging in hobbies/interests. Flying solo kinda sucks when you're younger. Plus your values might not really be set in stone yet anyway. Then you get older, you aren't going out to concerts/art exhibitions/whatever as much anymore, hell you might even have kids. That's when values and beliefs become more important than "we both like band X".

Idk but you got my attention 👀 😂😊
@@alexlief2072don't take it like that, Take it as an entertainment
@@alexlief2072 Yes I like Fleerwood but they are a little to much pop for my taste. Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple are more my cup of tea :) I'm 90s kid rised by gen X/boomer parents so maybe thats why😅
Marriage material.
you should do a "stacy musical compass" the same way you did for chad
my girlfriend is a Hollywood undead girl and everything your saying is so accurate I couldn't stop laughing
I worked security at an arena when Evanescence was supporting another band, those girls are definitely not wholesome.
Really?. Because I would think a girl who likes Evanescence is shy, has low self esteem, doesn’t get out much, has depression, but is easy to talk to and can be chill.
He's shockingly accurate in so many ways and in so many ways i hate it but love it.
Theneedledrop call Sleep Token the Imagine Dragons of metal on that album lol

😂the alkaline trio bit was spot on. Most unstable I've ever met.
The pets part was spot on lol.

Holy shit, you read my Lana del Rey loving sister like a book. Well except the cat part, she has a dog.
Finn over here spitting straight factual knowledge 💯
Me, my other personalities and their personality disorders, will keep on listening to deftones
FINN…. You have brightened so many tough days for me. Thank you. I am actually using this as my guide from now on
I've been really into Knocked Loose and Leftover Crack lately. That puts me in the wholesome alt girl category right? Lol
Need a third axis for "domestic violence" for you my friend 😂
@@DrDipsh1t Na, I don't stay in relationships long enough for them to get violent lol
LOD leftover dust
Where are my well adjusted Lana fans who know a lot about Nirvana and love metal and have a good relationship w their dads?! We exist, Finn!😅
4 horsegirls of the apocalypse: rugby girls, colorguard girls or alumni, Pentecostals, and of course, stay FAR away from horsegirls
Hollywood undead and Imagine Dragons women can stay away from me. But let me tell you something, Nirvana women may be hot, but they also psycho
