Can't believe the 360 is as old now as the Atari 7800 was when the 360 came out. That's absolutely crazy!
The PS3, 360 and Wii era was gaming at its peak. We had so much creative innovation with franchises and alot of memorable classics from that console generation. It's thanks to the success of the 360 Sony actually had to step it up, because their $599 pricing for PS3 in 2006 made them come off as they tried to become the Apple of home consoles/gaming.
The saddest part is that newer generations will have no idea of what it was like even if they play all the games from that era. The set and setting is extremely important. The society, the culture, the music; the kind of displays we all had, from the last, most advanced CRT's to the newer LCDs. It all came with a vibe that you cannot replicate today because now you know you are faking it for just a moment in your room and that's it. Gaming is gone as we knew it for decades. It's time for the indie scene and mod communities to shine like never before.
Just shows how easily people are tricked really. Sony is also not Microsoft with practically infinite money, who could subsidise all aspects of the development costs and then subsidise the cost of the console much heavier than the competition.

@@starzhvh Ahh the old reset glitch hack consoles. I had one back in the day that would sometimes take a minute to boot or 20 minutes. This was back when they first came out with the slim consoles. Just look at FH and FH2 and its DLC. It's gone from store, no possible way to purchase it, or play it. It was the 360 S, not the slim. and yes you could easily swap the hard drives, what are you talking about? I literally worked for xbox support from 2011 to 2016. The S console that came out around holidays of 2011 had a huge flaw with the 4gb models, the flash memory would die, and the console was designed to read that first, so it didn't matter if you put in a hard drive. You would try to update one day, it would fail because the flash storage was dead, they would call us and complain that the update broke their xbox and we would have to replace it, assuming it was in warranty. In my experience these calls were far more frequent than the RROD. Or 3 red lights they demanded we call it
I remember Skyrim took AGEEEES to load. It took like a full minute so you could play again after opening a door. When the Xbox One came I played the whole game again and it was super fast.
Still have my 2 360's and have games on them that you cant evewn get anymore. Love them and have been playing games here and there with my son now. Greatest system
I had a gen 1 360 that didn't have an hdmi port. Trying to find an adapter to make it work on modern tv's had the best buy employees speechless. Finally found a VGA adapter and it was amazing. Still miss it to this day! RRoD fatality.
got the 360 on launch night. maybe a month later, RRoD. they actually had me send it in to Microsoft for a "fix". the "fixed" version also RRoD'd a month or so later -_-
whats funny is i had the original 360 and have yet to get the red rink of death until late 2018 which is just an overheating issue due to the thermal paste being non existent, the rrod was an easy fix just needed a solder reflow which is why the towel trick worked which also caused more damage.
Actually the issue and desing error was the gpu, the gpu die had solder balls between the substrate, and those balls would crack, the problem is that you cannot reflow those balls neither reball because you have to get crazy high tempetatures that at that point would kill the gpu die (the die is the silicon chip), so even if you get it fix by just appying heat, or even replace the entire gpu for a new one, the gpu would always die just by using the console. The Slim model would fix this problem desing
they did the towel trick when you brought in your 360?! in an actual store?! you could just send it in to MS for warranty and they would send you a new (well different, think they were refurbished) console. had to do it twice within warranty (which doesn't start again when you get a replacement console btw so I also bought the new black model when my warranty had run out)
And I still have my original Xbox 360 I got from the Mountain Dew "Every 10 Minutes" giveaway and got it a few days before it officially came out. And it still works, though I did have to modify it to fix the Red Ring of Death.
Most games are backwards compatible but for people like me that miss old WWE games on 360, it sucks we can’t play those on series. South Park let’s go tower defense comes to mind too. MVC2 also.
But Microsoft seriously pulled through with their warranties on the 360. I could ship my console out and have it back the same week at that time which was actually kind of crazy. It shouldn’t have happened in the first place but they honestly did amazing handling that issue for their customers. They were devoted to keeping people happy and not losing their fans
Tip if you buy Xbox and xbox360 games on Xbox one that are not on the 360 store using your xbox360 console and goto your downloads and it shows up and can be downloaded to the 360 console haven't tried it on the x or s
My boys pooled their money and bought an xbox 360 a few years after it first came out, and my older boy still has it and it still works. When we built our house, satellite internet was all we could get, so they had to wait till midnight to start downloading a new game, and it took hours. that may be why he wanted my external hard drive...
What do you mean the slim lost the ability to easily swap the hard drive? You just take the door off on the right side and pull the tab.
Yes, exactly. Austin saying that was kinda weird.
You don't even need a screwdriver to take the cover off.

I remember Skyrim took AGEEEES to load. It took like a full minute so you could play again after opening a door. When the Xbox One came I played the whole game again and it was super fast.
Playing halo reach on my Xbox 360 back in 2010 was amazing
Still have my 2 360's and have games on them that you cant evewn get anymore. Love them and have been playing games here and there with my son now. Greatest system
360 slim had a easily removable hard drive. It’s on the top under a door with a button. Once the door is open, the drive slides out.
My Xbox 360 gets red ring all the time. I just unplugged it and plugged it back in and it was fixed.
Still have my 360 after all this time, same with my ps3, still sad to think about that these consoles are considered retro now.
Not having wifi was one of my favorite features, made xbox live even greater
Lasted so much longer than the Wii U and 3DS stores at least!
I had a gen 1 360 that didn't have an hdmi port. Trying to find an adapter to make it work on modern tv's had the best buy employees speechless. Finally found a VGA adapter and it was amazing. Still miss it to this day! RRoD fatality.
X360 controllers are still the golden standard for pc gaming. I owned a usb 360 controller for years before owning a 360. Still own the controller
got the 360 on launch night. maybe a month later, RRoD. they actually had me send it in to Microsoft for a "fix". the "fixed" version also RRoD'd a month or so later -_-
whats funny is i had the original 360 and have yet to get the red rink of death until late 2018 which is just an overheating issue due to the thermal paste being non existent,
the rrod was an easy fix just needed a solder reflow which is why the towel trick worked which also caused more damage.
The Slim model would fix this problem desing
they did the towel trick when you brought in your 360?! in an actual store?!
you could just send it in to MS for warranty and they would send you a new (well different, think they were refurbished) console. had to do it twice within warranty (which doesn't start again when you get a replacement console btw so I also bought the new black model when my warranty had run out)
Dude every single shot is a thing of art
i still have my console ... but power button turns red..
And I still have my original Xbox 360 I got from the Mountain Dew "Every 10 Minutes" giveaway and got it a few days before it officially came out. And it still works, though I did have to modify it to fix the Red Ring of Death.
Getting home from school playing black ops 2 was the best Xbox 360 was awsome 😎
Most games are backwards compatible but for people like me that miss old WWE games on 360, it sucks we can’t play those on series. South Park let’s go tower defense comes to mind too. MVC2 also.
But Microsoft seriously pulled through with their warranties on the 360. I could ship my console out and have it back the same week at that time which was actually kind of crazy. It shouldn’t have happened in the first place but they honestly did amazing handling that issue for their customers. They were devoted to keeping people happy and not losing their fans
No way of getting Left 4 Dead 1&2 on a series S or digitally now. Criminal for such a masterpiece..
Wait u can't buy those digitally?
most racing games arent backwards compatible due to licenses, also there are quite a few games not backwards compatible
A real shame is that Project Gotham Racing 4 isn't in the backwards compatibility list, a great game imho.
Tip if you buy Xbox and xbox360 games on Xbox one that are not on the 360 store using your xbox360 console and goto your downloads and it shows up and can be downloaded to the 360 console haven't tried it on the x or s
the moment i saw bo3 i was like "theres no way its discountered", i mean, after all its activison
My boys pooled their money and bought an xbox 360 a few years after it first came out, and my older boy still has it and it still works. When we built our house, satellite internet was all we could get, so they had to wait till midnight to start downloading a new game, and it took hours. that may be why he wanted my external hard drive...
Some xbox 360 games are offsale on the modern xbox marketplace
