    1000 1000 thankyous. It worked JUST like you said. I am 78 and I was EXHAUSTED after two passes on my lawn - and it didn't used to be that way. I suspected my AWD wasn't working properly, but I didn't know. I had tried to watch a few videos and they were so complicated I gave up. As they guy below says, your video saved my life 🙂 It was clear, I did it, and the AWD WORKS !!!! Thank you

    Husqvarna , poor desing, boys. Should be a shroud, covering those belts' pulleys. The older MTD, mower i have, Honda GCV 160 engine, HAS A SHROUD over that drive pulley. I just changed that belt, was stretched. Could have shortened the pull cable ; but, if its' stretched allready..../ changed it ! This mower, is front -wheel pull, only. Now, works like a ' charm '. Thank-you, DE Man, for this; and your hands-on labor ! (old guy)

    I just picked one up the other day, 800 series. They tossed it in our community bulk pick up pile as it had a hole in the deck. I took it, used a piece of scrap aluminum and some roofing mastic and some sheet metal screws and patched it up. The mower started on the second pull, but the front wheels were the only ones working, and very weakly at best! Thank you for the insight on what was wrong. Working good now, but needs new wheels as these are nearly worn out.

    Thank you. I've had this same mower for around 8 years and never did anything other than routine maintenance. Runs great but I notice it doesnt pull like it used to. I'll try to adjust the cable like you demonstrated. The mower in the video is missing the part that covers all the gears. Its no wonder they're having issues.

    THANK YOU!! Worked perfectly AFTER I figured out the other issue: grass packed in the belt housing on the front wheel. Used a long thin screwdriver to work out most of it. Wondering if canned air would get the rest or would pack it even more. But his worked. I also added a squirt of WD40 on the screw of the pulleys. Really a neat fix!

    • @beerggls
      @beerggls Год назад

      I put a new belt on and it was bigger around than the old one . So needless to say, I too am back at square one. All the wheels kick in solid on mine when you lift up on the handle, taking the weight off the rear wheels slightly. Can’t figure out why because nothing in the powertrain looks like it’s been designed to alter its operation based on the amount of weight on any of the wheels or angle of deck. Lift it from the top of the rear baffle carefully in the rear and it still does it. None of the control cables look like they are doing anything when lifting the rear either.. hope your problem is just a stretched belt!

    The very first thing you want to do is pull plug wire, so someone doesn't start it. Not everyone knows, its just the right thing to do for you and mostly for others. I watched an older gentleman, who was mentally retarded, but was a very hard worker, he tipped his older mower over across, the street and was cleaning the underneath, I went running, just as I got there it started, I don't know if it was me for him to stand or the loaded underneath kept him from chopping his hands off. he replied " wow did you see that, it almost bit me" repeatedly, his didn't a kill lever on it but, I always do it reguardless
