  • To start the year of 2017 and Zaktanuary! - LOL, I had to... It's time to go back into the past once again and look at the epic villain who inspired and scared BIONICLE fans for all time: MAKUTA or as we all know him properly as Teridax.
    This time, these are all the scenes of Makuta Teridax from BIONICLE: Legends of Metru Nui, the second film of the trilogy which is in fact a prequel. In the sequel, Teridax has far more screentime. However, he's also impersonating Turaga Dume so I decided to include those scenes because it's still Teridax interacting and doing things. I hope you enjoy! Have a Happy New Year!
    Special Thanks to Krexa Productions for uploading the original BIONICLE Trilogy films to RUclips! You're a remastering legend dude! Thanks!

If the Toa Metru lost here, Makuta would have taken over the Great Spirit Robot centuries earlier than he did, and the residents of the Robot, especially the matoran of Metru Nui would have been none the wiser.

    Makuta Teridax is, by far, one of the best villains LEGO has ever come up with. He was already terrifying enough on his own, but his new Shadow Hand ability just added to that, seriously you can see the fear in Nidhiki and Krekka's eyes right before they die. I actually woudn't be surprised if he somehow managed to survive The Battle of Bara Magna and decided to lay low until seizing the right moment to rise up again.

    It took me awhile to realize that Turaga Dume was talking to himself when addressing Makuta. I never realized how arrogant Makuta was until I saw he apparently likes talking to his own reflection.
    That being said though, Makuta is a personal favorite of mine when it comes to "dark lord" villains. He's powerful, he's terrifying, and he steals every scene he's in with that deep, yet surprisingly calm and soft-spoken voice of his. There's also the fact that his plans are so well layered that even his defeats contributed to his ultimate victory.

      They do say, however, that intelligent people often do talk to themselves. And in fact many educated people and experts say it’s sometimes a good idea, because it means you are able to check how something sounds, so you’re sure it doesn’t sound stupid. It’s also good for learning how to pronounce new words you encounter. And problem solving. Asking yourself stuff like “So X thing work with Y? No, because of Z. So how do we solve Z?” etc. But yes, in the context of the scene in the movie, he’s just all like “Yeah, I’m so good because I’ve got this brilliant plan than no one can stop haha.” So yes, in this case, it’s just a display of pure arrogance :)) And narcissism.

    I still get a kick out of how Maktua just straight up talks to himself in the mirror.
    One major problem that this movie (and 2004 in general) has is that the Makuta reveal means nothing. The Toa Metru never see or interact with the Makuta so when it's revealed that Makuta was the bad guy all along, unless you're a Bionicle fan, you're just left wondering "wait who is this?"

    It'd be cool to get an updated or rebooted version of this as a series on netflix. This universe has such insane and complicated lore, plus makuta was so nerfed in the movies. • @megalodon7916
      @megalodon7916 4 года назад +9

      He wasn’t nerfed. He was toying with them. It doesn’t explain that in the films because they only tell a small part of the story. One of the guidebooks was written entirely from Teridax’s perspective, and he explains quite clearly that he wasn’t even trying when he fought them, because he didn’t consider them a threat. It also didn’t matter who won the fight because he had already accomplished his main goal, which was to put Mata Nui to sleep. His fight with the Toa was just a bit of fun. The one thing that he did not expect, however, was to lose the Mask of Time and to get trapped in that prison, but those proved to be only temporary setbacks that did not effect the plan in any significant manner.

    I will admit Teridax was a bit stupid here. Instead of disgracing the new Toa and trying to frame them for Lhikan's disappearance, he could've taken them under his influence and made them a useful asset. That would've kept them away from the Plan much better than actively turning them against him and making them suspicious of his identity.

    • @manofmercy1500
      @manofmercy1500 2 года назад +10

      Well Teridax did try to prevent them from becoming Toa in the first place by changing the Star alignments for the Red Star to switch their names with that of the matoran who knew of the Great Disks. but Mata Nui, having already grown suspicious of the Makuta plotting against him, secretly changed the stars himself & altered Teridax’s mind so that he’d actually switch the alignments back to their correct courses.
      So if Teridax ever figured out what Mata Nui did to him with this tiny act, it’s plausible to reckon that if he (as Duma) tried to sway the Toa Metru to his influence while Mata Nui was still awake, then it certainly wouldn’t have ended well for him.

    2) I have the 2003 Titan of Teridax as well as the 2003 Movie edition of the Kraakan (found in the Takutanuva set)
    3) I have the Turaga Dume figure (with trans orange eyes to represent Teridax) with both masks, the 2003 movie Kraakan & the red & black Kiril, alongside that figure was the combiner Ultimate Dume (Teridax's 2004 Titan form, which the film makers did not use)
    4) I have the Piraka sets where their Zamor Spheres were Antidermis which was really Teridax after his body was crushed
    5) I have the Maxilos & Spinax set which was the specific robot Teridax housed his Antidermis in
    6) I made my own custom warrior form of Teridax wearing crimson red & black armour the Kraakan is gold (from one of the 2005 playsets Tower of Toa) for my own alternate story for 2008
    7) I made my own custom Matoran Universe Robot, once controlled by Mata Nui until Teridax takes it over, how I represent who takes over the body is by changing the heads by colour (trans lime green means Mata Nui & trans orange means Teridax)

    I'm pretty sure this was obvious but Teridax having the same model as MoL is kinda Justified. Based on the fact that they're the same model and that in the book Time Trap, Makuta loses his wings which means that 'Ultimate Dume' and Teridax 03 are supposed to be the same, it's just that the latter has no wings. I mean, it would be cooler if Teridax in LoMN had blue and green in him and or recycled pieces from both Krekka and Nidhiki as in the same book, The Shadowed One notices said colours in Teridax's Armour.

      I think he fissioned his spirit to properly pose as Dume. If the previous Toa was still around when Makuta started to impersonate Dume, he had to weaken himself to not let the other Toa get wise about him
      Meanwhile he used his trusted position to lure the other Toa aside from Likhan to their dooms, and thought it was the end of it, until the new Toa came into the picture
      Meanwhile, while his weakened self play as Turaga Dume. main self waits in the shadows, and by end of movie, reunited as one again

    Can the Makuta shapeshift? I wanna know what Teridax looked like before becoming Dume's impostor, because that just looks wrong with his head on a dwarf body. I also like how his new form (absorbing Nedhiki & Krekka) was the same form he had in Mask of Light, just without the wings.
    That being said, he looks a bit smaller here than in Mask of Light.

    • @Makutros
      @Makutros Год назад +3

      One of Makuta's defining traits is his ability to shape-shift. When the Toa of Mata Nui first meet him in the Mata Nui Online Game he just looks like a villager with corroded armor and hollow eyes, before becoming a swirl of disconnected pieces of scrap and darkness. The Toa of Light faces him in the form commonly referred to as shadow titan, which was his last form before the Takutanuva melding incident resulted in the shattering of his physical body. In this prequel the movie makers decided to use the shadow titan form, though in the canon he takes a much different form he calls the winged giant (more commonly known under official toy's name Ultimate Dume). Makuta can make himself bigger by absorbing other creature's body and mind and can make himself smaller by storing a part of his essence in a pocket dimension (and yes, that is canon). Nobody knows how he looked originally, but as he has been a powerful warlord in the service of the Great Spirit for several millennia at this point he probably was not a frail creature.
      Some people also did some calculations on the canon sizes of the characters based on information given by the author of most Bionicle content (not accurately depicted in the movies)
      Makuta (shadow titan): 9.72ft/2.96m
      Takanuva: 7.58ft/2.31m
      Vakama: 6.91ft/2.11m
      Dume: 4.85ft/1.48m
      Makuta (winged giant): 14.49ft/4.42m

      I like it, i kind of see the toy kraahkan as makuta's 'eye form' and the movie one as its actual form.

      I think they use the one in this movie because it's more expressive. The Set Kraahkan is cooler though for sure. Sam thing with Nidhikis Face in the set vs movie

    Ever wonder why Makuta speaks so much slower here than in the first one?

      I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this, felt like I was going fucking crazy. Yeah, I dunno why he sounds like he had a stroke or something, but that always bothered me about the second film.

      He also sounds and acts much more like a cartoon villain than he did in the first movie

      @@davisphillips993 Maybe they felt they had to tone it back for kids after seeing the reaction to the first film? Beats me. I still love this movie, don't get me wrong, but really prefer Makuta in Mask of Light.

    Makuta seems a lot like Oryx from Destiny. I wonder if Bungie used Makuta as inspiration.

    Man it's like I've come back home, see my name on almost all of my profiles is Teridax, and it's just weird to be back and have some people know who's name it is.

    What did he want the Mask of Time for anyway?

      The plan he had was to brainwash all Matoran to believe that he was their leader. But that would need a lot of time. So he wanted something that could act as a fast-forward button for his conquest plans.
