On whim, I went to a local AD and decided I needed a turtle. It was a decision between this and the PADI. The bezel is what sold me. To have engraved indices and textured circles rather than the normal flat and printed indices, that's a feature I have never personally seen on a watch at this price point. Add that to the dial design, you get a watch far more than the asking price. They only had one example for sale so I was lucky enough to find one with an aligned chapter ring and bezel. I've been wearing this for the past few days continuously and it just feels and looks the part. It has its own identity. For the last 2 years I've questioned the so called hype about the turtles and over the last few days I understand that's it's not hype, it's more about praise. Seiko did something undeniably great with the turtle.
I just pulled the trigger on this. I was all set to get a gilt and black one, and then I saw this and was completely blown away. I just hope that lovely dial doesn't fade over time
I agree this iteration looks great, but apart for the second hand, dial insert and bezel, it is the same watch and does not deserve an aproximate $200 price bump.
I begin with this one, then quickly fell in love with the Omega Seamaster Professional 300m Divers watch. Bought that one 3 days ago. I kept the Seiko but I truly love the Omega and been wearing it every day. Nice review by the way.
I have had my blue Seiko Turtle for a week now.. Since I set it against the clock on my networked computer a week ago, it has lost 7 (seven) seconds. You simply cannot beat that for a mechanical watch!
I'm a fifth generation jeweler/watchmaker and I find it fascinating how obsessed collectors get with alignment these days. Seems like not being able to see the forest for the trees to me, but to each their own. Good video.
I love this turtle. I love the dial and the maxi-indices, the new bezel...but I still love the splash of red on my PADI...I am wondering if a mash-up between the great white and PADI would work? Thank you for another excellent review Bruce :)
Another great presentation! Thanks. Very tempting I have to say. I have the Japan made PADI Turtle Pepsi, one of my favourite Seiko of all time but the engraved Bezel on this one is teasing my wallet. I’m surprised Seiko didn’t go with the 6R movement, not that I have a problem with the 4R.
The bezel (not the insert) is already updated on the SRPC95, just try to compare it, because right now I'm comparing the SRPA21 bezel vs the bezel on the SRPC95

No problem man. I've owned all of the ones you mentioned. The Nemo is the most expensive and it is very cool. But this feels more dynamic and I like the bezel upgrade a lot. My favorite color release was the anthracite grey one. Though it has the older thinner markers and bezel
No matter how much I tried to love my turtle I could never warm up to the case shape looks like a blob to me but I did a simple mod and removed the dial and movement and placed it into my sumo and I’m in heaven due to the fact I love day complications on my seiko and also replaced to big font bezel with a seiko style ceramic and fixed what I hated about the sumo...
I got on bargain prix 100 euro what but maybe its older version? Was reduced retail sale jan couldn't believe it its not a king turtle though, but prefer it to the 779 I had, I didn't get kanji bummer
If it is sold in the Japan market, they can state made in japan on the product even if it isnt made in Japan. The "made in Japan" statement can go onto any watch made anywhere in the world where the factory is under japanese supervision.
I love mine. Haven't taken it off since I got it three or four weeks ago. Hate the bracelet though. Pin & collar system is awful...at least for me. I couldn't get it. Got an Uncle Seiko waffle strap and it's perfect! Might be getting a beads of rice, but for now, the waffle is tasty.
What’s your opinion on this vs the black king turtle is the $100 more worth it? I realize this dial is a lot more dynamic looking but I’m a sucker for neutral colored watches and I love the grenade texture as well
Bruce and watches community, I like this special version Turtle. But also I like very much Orient Triton in blue color and both of "Save the ocean" Samurai's. Which of them in your opinion would be great to use every day casual style and no problem with suit for 7,5-8" inches wrists man? Thanks!
A question for the committee. So I got this great white at a store department, the lady rezied it wrong 🤦♂️💩. She took off the 2nd link from the 6 position ( not from clasp ) but from watch. She put in a barrel pin in but was loose. Is this bracket trash now? Or can something be done? The thing is, she said she can damage it out and order me a new one, but and here it goes. This watch is perfect everything lines up. No misalignments anywhere. I saw other turtle with misalignments and I'm like wait. Let me take it to a jeweler 1st and see what he says. What do you guys think?
The alignment on your new turtle is not perfect (6 o’clock marker) and it is beyond me how you can not notice that. The best way to see that is if you compare it to your old turtle at 1:48 Cheers!

If I'm right : SBDY031 is the japanese edition with the japanese caracters for the date, and the SRPD21K1 is the "rest of the world" edition with the classic caracters !
Nice Turtle, but it still lacks in too many areas to justify the price. Especially when Orient Triton steps into the arena ;) Btw, for me, the goofy second hand from SRP777 is the thing that got me. Great White's one the other hand, doesn't do it for me. Dislike it much, even though I appreciate the shark theme.
The Orient has this beat in price no doubt, unless you snag this on Amazon and the price is the same. Orient also beats the turtle in wearability. But I just can't get over that dang power reserve indicator Orient puts on the dial. Screws up the look IMO

I would it change 3 things to this watch if I was the boss. 1) wtf with the sword logo it's the coolest thing ever and on this watch doesn't look as good as the one on the cheaper model. I mean the part of the sheet of the sword that has the lume on both sides, it doesn't match the quality of the rest of the watch. 2) they grey color of the bezel looks like a fly on a cake, it doesn't match the rest of the watch to my taste. I know the purpose, the women use a purse of a totally different color of what they are wearing so the contrast make more interesting the outfit. They called "clutch" to that kind of bag. It doesn't work here. 3)the PADI logo with the "X" design. It doesn't look cool and adds more letters on the top of 2 lines of letters. 2 many. I would like to integrate it on the beautiful dial. And a little hide. Other than that it's perfect. Thanks for sharing this uniques pieces from Japan. I ♥️SEIKO✌️

Is the Japanese version actually worth the extra $150.00 to $250.00? Seems like an exaggerated price tag just because it's jdm assembled.

The Japanese date wheel is such a big selling point to me versus the SRPD21. In either case, the blue gradient on this watch is killer.
