I have a SRP773 blue dial version and can corroborate Marc's words -- this is a really impressive watch and a welcomed upgrade to the SKX line. I have both the bracelet and the new OEM rubber strap and confirm that both of these are worlds better than the SKX offerings. I have to say that these watches are an absolute delight and this comes from a guy who owns a Monster, and SSC Solar Diver, an SKX, a Sumo, and a Tuna. I was surprised at how high the quality was except for that one traditional and infuriating Seiko bug-a-boo: alignment. On my watch the six o'clock index is offset by about 1mm to the right. Everything else is just fine, including the chapter ring and bezel markings. It doesn't bother me too much but once you see it, you always know it's there. Oh well -- it's not too bad to make me return the watch and I hope that Seiko will someday get its QC act together in this area.
The 4R36 calibre is bulletproof, great movement accurate, strong and reliable. Worn a Seiko with this movement for several years no problems. The fact that the same movement is in these watches too puts the Turtle Pepsi on my Most Wanted List.
The 773 on the steel bracelet + the "Pepsi" on the silicone strap: These are my 2 "Turtles", & I find they compliment each other. Thanks Marc. LIW ROCKS!
These are fantastic watches. I've got PADI and 777. Love them both (almost as much as my Sub). They do wear much smaller than they look and are very comfortable, especially on the OEM rubber. Thanks for the great video, Mark!
Marc, this video is very helpful showing the SRP773-779 line. A question though, do the bracelets on the SRP773 and SRP775 have the diver's extension like the SRPA21?
Can’t decide on a skx or turtle. Also how many places are Seiko watches made? Sales lady was pushing the fact that the ones that are made for USA are of better quality
I'm glad I'm not the only one with small wrists. I swear, I'm 6'1" and 170lbs, I have fairly large hands, I work out so I have a decent amount of muscle mass, and yet with every watch I own, I wear it on the first hole.
Long Island Watch I have been debating this or the Solar Batman. Then there is the blue Sumo. I think I will end up buying the blue Sumo (and selling my Squale diver).
Hey, so I wanted to buy the skx 009 from amazon, and noticed the Long Island watch is a seller. Why is there a 70 dollar markup if I chose to buy from you? TGV said you always check your watches before shipping them, so is that the reason ? No offence but I'm really just trying to ask why you're selling it for 279 $ vs around 200$. Hoping you read this.. fan of the channel, thx!
Long Island Watch I understand .. I don't live in your country, so I have no other option but to get it shipped to a friend via amazon, for him to get it back for me. Thank you for your reply ! When I come visit I'll surely pick up a piece from your store :)
Hi Mark, do you sell both the rubber and metal braceletes separate? What’s the indicative price of these? Does the rubber strap in the turtle fits an Skx007? Have both a Turtle sabe the ocean and an Skx007, and I was looking to have the metal bracelet in the turtle and upgrading the rubber strap in the Skx. Thanks. Cheers.
Nice video, Question what is the normal gain/loss time in this watch, my seiko srp777 is -12/-15 a day, i want to know if this time loss is normal, i usually wear it 8 to 12 hours a day please answer thank you.
Fredrik Johansen J is for Japanese market and built in Japan. K is the Malaysian built version. My experience is the J watches have better QC, bezel is perfect at 1200, crown is smoother, hands hit the indices perfectly. Your mileage may vary.
Hello again! I didn't want to be a bother (still don't) so I wasn't going to mention that the Ranger isn't included in that video. I LOVE your channel and store as well as your involvement with the watch community as a whole; (watching you TGV and Federico together felt like meeting up with old friends). That aside, if you do find the time for even a brief message regarding your impressions of the watch it would be greatly appreciated! Also, would you consider it a field or tool watch, or perhaps something different altogether? Once again, thank you for your time!
Why can the iconic skx007 be had for around $200 but a prospex is twice that? I'm just not seeing the difference that justifies this relative markup. Can you explain?
I'm looking at getting one of these but there seem to be a lot of poor reviews on Amazon, people saying the watch has really poor time keeping (losing 15 minutes per day), poor quality control in terms of bezels not lining up, dodgy crowns and so on. Does anyone own one of these and know if these are common issues or just rare occurrences? Thanks.
The second hand on mine stopped running for some reason, the watch still keeps time, i have not dropped it and only wear it occasionally, any help to fix this?
Im confused. Are the one's that actually say Made in Japan. Really made in japan. Or is that fake. And some sat mov't japan and some mov't Malaysia. And some dont say anything close to the 6 o clock
Although the turtle Pepsi is nice looking successor to SKX009, with hackable and hand winding movement, I couldn't resist getting an SKX009K1; the size bigger than an Orient Mako Pepsi, but smaller than turtle...my wrists are not that large. And, I guess there is a bit of hype or fondness for the 009 that rubbed off on me.
I absolute agree. I have small wrists and I don't like oversized watches, but this one isn't a problem at all! I also own a Seiko SNH55, which is 41mm and it wears basically the same. It is a bit heavier but personally I find the Turtle more comfortable to wear. Honestly, I did't like it at first when I saw pictures of it, but that all changed when I actually tried it.... I'm loving it! It's my favorite Seiko at the moment. I bought the Seiko SRP21J1, the PADI, special edition. I also really liked the "Batman" version (SRP787), funny enough both versions are not in this video...;)
Correct, but it actually doesn't wear that much smaller than the Turtle. I also think that the Turtle sits nicer on the wrist due to it's case shape. Also the Turtle has more "presence" imo. (Like I said before; I'm loving it! so I'm a little bit biased...) SKX is great!, but I did sell it after I got my Turtle. Can't have them all ;(
I wanted to add a gold watch to my collection and it ended up being this Seiko. The band had to be replaced with an IP Gold metal one found here. www.strapcode.com/products/metal-ss-gcl20-bfg089
I* only like the PADI version, the padi version has a sunburse blue dial which looks great. Seiko do a really bad job with their dials - they need to move away from the matt dark grey dials that look basic.
OnlineBackupServices should remember that these watches are tool watches... their matte color makes the markers extremely crisp and bright at first glance. there's a reason Seiko does what they do... but I agree that they should do a "fancier" version that has a sunburst dial and some extra bling for lack of a better word.

Thanks for your feedback and thanks for watching.
Don't sweat the misalignment thing too much buddy...
These are great watches, & only God is perfect!
I have the blue Turtle and really like it. Wears a lot smaller than expected which is a plus since I have a 7" wrist.
The 4R36 calibre is bulletproof, great movement accurate, strong and reliable. Worn a Seiko with this movement for several years no problems. The fact that the same movement is in these watches too puts the Turtle Pepsi on my Most Wanted List.
Recently I added the SRP773J1 to be my SKX007J1 partner. What a couple !!!! Great vid !!!
Lucky you!
1:41 Never say tip to tip again.
y not?
@@vaughandurful it is some sort of peasant joke that a rich person will never comprehend?
Sounds little jay
8:55 if you slow the vid down to .25 you can count the 6 ticks for each second. :)
Good to know i was telling the truth! Thanks for watching.
The watches are fantastic ! totally great value and the seiko rubber strap has been hugely improved. Excellent value.
Absolutely.
The 773 on the steel bracelet + the "Pepsi" on the silicone strap: These are my 2 "Turtles", & I find they compliment each other.
Thanks Marc. LIW ROCKS!
Thank you sir!
These are fantastic watches. I've got PADI and 777. Love them both (almost as much as my Sub). They do wear much smaller than they look and are very comfortable, especially on the OEM rubber. Thanks for the great video, Mark!
Thanks for watching.
Just went on your site to buy the OEM rubber. Sold out! :(
Bruce Williams RUclips can do that! We have more coming in a week!
Long Island Watch sweet. I'll keep my eye out and jump on it when I see 👍
Same!!!! Been looking for that strap since I got the Padi!
Strap just came in. Very nice quality!!
Been wearing mine too. The OEM rubber is far better than the stock bracelet it comes on imo
I like turtles!
@anonymous twitter.com/johnnyware?lang=en
Got the 775 last month and now want the 779. Money to burn🔥🔥🔥
I just bought a SRP777K1 yesterday, awesome watch for sure
I will be buying the blue Turtle in the New Year. Can't wait.
Great, thank you for watching.
Marc, this video is very helpful showing the SRP773-779 line. A question though, do the bracelets on the SRP773 and SRP775 have the diver's extension like the SRPA21?
Yes, they do have the diver's extension. Good point! Thank you.
Great looking watches. My wish list just got longer
Haha, glad to help! Thank you!
What's your wrist size?
I recently got a SRP775, great watch. Really stands out
Me too!😆
I appreciate how you're upfront about how it's not made in Japan. Thx.
The only way to be.
Is there a difference between the USA v JP models, other than where they're made?
No, that's it. Oh, and maybe some dial markings.
Long Island Watch Good to go. thanks!
Will you ever sell the SRP787? Turtle Batman Edition?
When it's released for the USA.
Can’t decide on a skx or turtle. Also how many places are Seiko watches made? Sales lady was pushing the fact that the ones that are made for USA are of better quality
both turtles on my wishlist... maybe will get from your store.
Maybe!
i wish they'd made the bezel bigger to match the case. The 007's are so good but just a bit small. (IMO).
Daniel Lees I agree, I was surprised how small my skx007 was, it definitely wears small for a 42mm.
I did not notice the transition at 11:01!
I'm glad I'm not the only one with small wrists. I swear, I'm 6'1" and 170lbs, I have fairly large hands, I work out so I have a decent amount of muscle mass, and yet with every watch I own, I wear it on the first hole.
Mine are also about 6 and 1/4, give or take a little bit given how difficult it is to measure your own wrist without a flexible tape measure.
Another great video Marc! I purchased the spra21 Padi version, impatiently waiting for it to arrive
Great watch, you'll love it.
These watches are fantastic value, they are very good.
They sure are.
Mark thanks, now I am gonna order one right now.
Awesome, thanks!
How can I get this blue bezel I lived in manila
Why does the SRP787 "Batman" cost so much more? I really want this one, but I cannot understand why it costs as much as a Sumo.
Supply and demand. How about this alternative? www.longislandwatch.com/Seiko_SRP659_SRP659K1_SRP659K_Watch_p/srp659k1.htm
Long Island Watch I have been debating this or the Solar Batman. Then there is the blue Sumo. I think I will end up buying the blue Sumo (and selling my Squale diver).

We are not interested in doing business on Amazon, that is why!
Long Island Watch I understand .. I don't live in your country, so I have no other option but to get it shipped to a friend via amazon, for him to get it back for me.
Thank you for your reply ! When I come visit I'll surely pick up a piece from your store :)

What's the difference between the ones that they have the k or j at the end of the serial number?
J is Made in Japan while K is Malaysia.
I have the SRP773. I absolutely love it!
Roelf van der Merwe what about the accuracy? Tracking the time well?
Hi, Mark. I just want to ask if I can buy these watches from you. I wanted to have one of these.
I have a 7C43-7009 purchased in 1986 and going strong but I need to replace the bezel. Any ideas where I can get this? Thanks
Ebay!
I ordered two yesterday! The Blue and Black one! Can't wait until Wednesday😂😂😂
And which one do you return😜?
I'm picking my Xmas present and I can't decide between the black/gold turtle, orange monster (sold out) and the blue sumo. Damnit!
Nice video, Question what is the normal gain/loss time in this watch, my seiko srp777 is -12/-15 a day, i want to know if this time loss is normal, i usually wear it 8 to 12 hours a day please answer thank you.
Normal. You're at the lower end of the spec, but its in spec.
very nice vid. 👊 Ohh I want one if those straps.
It's the best!
What's a good beginner turtle for all around use?
SRP777
Long Island Watch thanks sir
Long Island Watch hi Marc I got the srp 777 thank you for the advice. Love this watch. Thanks again.
Is there an advantage that they are not from Japan (missing the J or K, K is for what?) or what's the difference, other than place of manufacturing?
When they do not have the J or the K, that just means they are meant for the "Seiko USA" market. No difference from a "K" model otherwise.
Fredrik Johansen
J is for Japanese market and built in Japan. K is the Malaysian built version.
My experience is the J watches have better QC, bezel is perfect at 1200, crown is smoother, hands hit the indices perfectly.
Your mileage may vary.
Not made in Japan, so in Malaysia then?
Would you be willing to review the Orient Ranger? Love the channel!
Have you seen the summer 2016 Orient rollout video we did?
Yes! Thank you for your reply!
Hello again! I didn't want to be a bother (still don't) so I wasn't going to mention that the Ranger isn't included in that video. I LOVE your channel and store as well as your involvement with the watch community as a whole; (watching you TGV and Federico together felt like meeting up with old friends). Thanks for the information. When it comes time to purchase a new diver to actually use for diving looks like these would fit the bill very well.
They sure will. Thanks for watching.
I wish they have the rubber strap version of the gold color.
You can always purchase the OEM rubber strap. :)
Why can the iconic skx007 be had for around $200 but a prospex is twice that? I'm just not seeing the difference that justifies this relative markup. Can you explain?
I think its more than just the name. There is economics at play too. The SKX007 is supplied in droves, while the turtles are not.
Getting the first 2 .. ordered 👍🏻
That's great!
Thanks.
as always Mark great job,
Strap is 20 mm or 22 mm ?
Turtles are 22mm.
A mini turtle review?
Eventually.
Excellent review.👍
Thank you for watching.
The second hand on mine stopped running for some reason, the watch still keeps time, i have not dropped it and only wear it occasionally, any help to fix this?
Watchmaker.
Long Island Watch do you know of a good place in nyc ?
Good review, thanks
What dive watch is made in Japan?
Just look for the ones with the J prefix on the model number. Then ones with the K are Malaysian.
does anyone know if the pepsi bezel will fade over time? big pet peeve of mine...
I don't think so.
Steinhart Ocean one Green or Seiko srp775 Turtle damm it hard to decide and I missed a great Deal on Amazon 270$
I have both...the steinhart is superior imo
Greg Taylor but the Steinhart is not a iso certified diver
Great video! Thank you
Im confused. Are the one's that actually say Made in Japan. Really made in japan. Or is that fake. And some sat mov't japan and some mov't Malaysia. And some dont say anything close to the 6 o clock
Can anyone please tell me why does my watch says that it has a suggested retail price of 495 while in the video it says 475, its the seiko srp 777
Seiko just raised the RRP in April from 475 to 495.
Well put together video
Al
Thanks!

My suggestion. Kindly compare swiss and Japanese watches
Nice watches and a nice comparison video. I wish seiko would stop putting the X on the dials though.
Some people love the Prospex X, some hate it. Some don't care : )
Pepsi is the best by 300% there... just needs a nice dark leather strap
Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Love this review man
Thanks for watching.
They need to make one in bronze.
NATO would look killer on that black watch.
really nice watches just wish they would be smaller
They wear much smaller. Looks better IRL too. I was surprised with the quality I have a blue one with metal bracelet.
I absolute agree. I have small wrists and I don't like oversized watches, but this one isn't a problem at all! I also own a Seiko SNH55, which is 41mm and it wears basically the same. Seiko does offer the smaller SKX series dive watches.

(Like I said before; I'm loving it! so I'm a little bit biased...) SKX is great!, but I did sell it after I got my Turtle. Can't have them all ;(

🍀👍🍀
i like turtles!
Seiko has allowed all of us to appreciate them!
I wanted to add a gold watch to my collection and it ended up being this Seiko. The band had to be replaced with an IP Gold metal one found here. www.strapcode.com/products/metal-ss-gcl20-bfg089
Pepsi all day long
It is a great looker.
MrBacchus18 i
I would buy a turtle if it wasn't for those horrible thick edges
Average Alien that’s what makes it a turtle moron
777 or 775 T^T
Triple 7 of course
