i think the advice of moving the mic around until you get a sound that you connect with is the best recording advice i've seen on a youtube video. thanks so much!
Thanks for the advice! One new thing you taught me was how layering audio is much better than doing it all in one go. I've also recently figured out what a compressor was (lol...) hopefully I can get comfortable with mic. Thanks for the tips! Cheers
Depends on what you want to use it for? Digital mixers often have an audio interface built in to them and usually connects directly to your computer via usb or firewire. Analog mixers have only standard outputs i.e. basically normal speaker ports. for home studio use a small digital mixer should be sufficient in the case that you dont have an audio interface allready.
really nice!!! I'm having a hard time to record my vocals correctly, they sound to airy, the pop filter makes it worse. I'm going to try to tilt my mic towards the chest - maybe this will work! thanks for these advice though 8D
Totaly agree with Wes Maebe, another cool guy named Fab Dupont recommend to take a lot of time with the mic placement, rather than EQ ing to death ^^ EQ is more usefull to help a synth or any direct to rack instrument to fit in the mix, also over compressing is not always an issue, because it kill so natural transient, but with parallel processing it help to have some kind of glue to the original source, in a muddy mix, overprocessing ( dynamic, EQ, reverb delay or any digital tweaking...) kills all music if it was not doing in a proper way, be subtle an listen to old classical record from Rock to Jazz and Classical.
I would like to install a home recording studio - i dont play instruments i have soundtracks i wanna record vocals over my soundtracks add harmonys auto tune any suggestions what i need?
dont bother with outboard gear when youre just starting out: most digital audio workstations include compressors. you will need a audio interface however, i recommend the PreSonus AudioBox it has phantom power so it can be used with condenser mics and it has high quality preamps.
This guy's voice made my day. He's so mellow and so into it.
I want to go record a song right now.

I found the information with regard to the pop blocker to be quite fascinating. Thank you very much!

I say lay back on the input volume in your program, put on a pop filter, and back up alittle bit, you'll sound beautiful!

straight to the point.

Maebe put the mic closer... or Maebe put it further away. Depending on your preference, Maebe just play around with the placement.
well, that was helpful.
