I made some changes to the build that resulted in MUCH HIGHER DPS.. totally a good build now :) Check the Meta-Builds link for any updates on this and any future builds I do.
OMFG some fans finally did a build/planning website/tool. So freaking grateful, these are the bread and butter for me when playing looter/specing games.
Another way to drastically increase the damage of this gun is to farm mods which give +burn trigger chance; the main way I get them is by doing public events near the end of season when you can do the optional objectives to get legendary drops. I think these unlock in phase 4 but it might be 3. Edit. Some require getting a few people together to complete all the objectives for leg mods!
Yeah, those are amazing. I think I only have one of the Burn mods right now. If they are coming from the new High-Risk events I'm sure we will see a bunch more in the near future.

PS: This is one of the few builds where I reckon running the burn rifle as the secondary may bring more utility, using for single target/bosses and the LMG for everything else (prolly best trash killing gun in the game). The bull's eye secondary meta bores me to death. Tho I do enjoy the Bingo or SR in general as secondaries, on mains that have short range or their special damage has range limit or elemental immune issues.

Strongly disagree with the choice of 2 piece heavy duty over 4 shelterer + free slot, currently the kvd is no that good mainly cause of cradle options missing, last season was awesome i cleared all the content solo but now i felt it weaker than ever and i have it full BP refined, still an awesome AOE option with hardy gloves and support weapon, wont recommend building it this season tho, better off using JAWS for solo content rn. Still great explanation video

Getting the additional 10 stacks of energy will result in 10% elemental over the 8% recommended and the ramp up time on a fast weapon like this won't be that much longer. Probably end up being better damage in the long term. Although if you're trying to be cheap, considering the wish machine gives you 3 pieces, then the 2 purples won't be much of a difference in DPS until you can afford to upgrade. The overall theme of these build guides are based on utilizing the Wish Machine so I try to give those options first. This is by no means a "Meta" build.
@@TroyGamingtv Yeah i get the idea on the videos, my 1st week with the gun was with 3 piece shelterer 2 piece heavy duty, its the way to go if you dont have the gear. adding a "Things to upgrade/look for" section on the videos using the build website (so you dont have to do the build ingame) will be awesome so people starting have something to look forward to 😁
The Jaws and Shrapnel builds are for sure much better builds. However, this is a cheaper build and still capable of doing all the content, even though not as fast. I would keep it on your radar incase it gets some love in the upcoming patch. I can see them buffing the gloves up too because they do like half the damage of the BBQ ones.
Dont make content, just to make content. Bad build 2:22 seconds in and I can tell you this is a bad build. I have mained boomboom for probably five seasons now I you count testing, Just looking at the gear you have shown its bad. On the secondary stats on mods, you want BURN/Status/Elemental For fire builds specifically you want FIVE pice Shelter and the BBQ gloves as BURN stacks with PSI. BURN is the ONLY set you want to use a five piece set, the PSI bonus is more than the 8% you get from the two piece heavy. Helm mod - wrong Top mods - wrong (only because its an lmg with a long reload, so you might as well take advantage of the free reload when you use an activator) Pants mod - wrong Boots mod - Wrong Boom boom is about stacking BURN damage not weapon. For reference my average weak spot bullet damage with boom boom is only about 1400 but my burn damage at max stack, is 7623 WITHOUT dino, food, or fortress warfare.
I would not go off of my examples for what you can expect since this build is new and I play like 8 characters so none of my mods are good. If you've been maining this for 5 seasons you will likely have much better stuff. I tested some of the things you mentioned and my experience wasn't the same as yours. Since you likely have better mods try giving my build an honest try and let me know if it's worse and if so by how much? I'll do the same if you want to tell me what youre using. I just want to give the people the best version and I would love to hear feedback from someone like you that has much more knowledge in this area. Thanks!
Why five shelter instead of four and one other gold equipment for some stat at least? :O The PSI should be the same right? Unless you have a higher star for it.
I was shrapnel main but have dabbled in boom boom. It feels pretty decent and I had a friend out dpsing my shrapnel with it in silos, but some of that is because it is GREAT at adds. And adds are a frequent thing in many important fights, like Lea. Which he ended up soloing on pro. Only real issue is you need an offspec for Prime Wars
That's a tad harsh :) It's decent enough to do all the content, but don't expect to win any competitions. I'd for sure pick something else as your first build, but if you have some Wish Machine money to toss around, this is how you make the Burn build work as good as it can.
@@TroyGamingtv You have 18% burn chance base. Up to 30%ish with perfect mods. Relying on 18-30% chance to do 7k a tick is horrible. The only fun thing is aoe clearing, basically just Silos. Saw someone using this on PvP and was... well, lets just say it didnt go too well for him. TLDR, too much work for so little reward. If you like blazing it up and don't care as much as it being omega viable... who cares. Right? Just most builds feel more rewarding than boom boom in its current state.
In PVP, yeah we will want better weapon. Well in PVE, nothing is horrible. It just that some build are better than the others. Unless we talking about bounce amirite lmaooo.

Wish we could choose the gun we wanted to use and then apply what the gun would do instead. Letting us have more variety with calibrations due weapon variety, and calibrations being weapon locked.
I totally wouldn't call it unusable, it does decent damage but as previously stated it's not an S tier build by any means. I was running pro PHI for the dragon and coming in 2nd/3rd with all of us pretty close on damage. I can solo Lea with it. It does good damage in Prime Wars.. but more importantly it's cheap and you get 3 pieces of the shelter set from gambling which can be used in power surge builds (S-tier). I think the next build I plan on highlighting is a power surge build, so if you try this and don't like it you'll be able to use some of the gear to try the next build. -- Bonus: I totally believe this will get love in the next round of buffs/nerfs.
@@hickeeyy damn! I have to check that out. I would be willing to bet that the KVD isn’t the best version of fire build out there but it was what we got on the wish machine.

The TTK on Jaws pistol is 2/10ths of a second. it takes the Boom Boom 2-3 seconds to build up to 15-20k damage after damage reduction/armor. Its absolutely NOT worth using. You will get killed using it 10/10 times.
@@jaredh923 I've been trying to get through LEA solo and I honestly vastly prefer the kvd to the jaws, there is a burn mod to heal whenever you kill burning stuff and its really easy to explode a group of mobs to get full hp without the weakness of needing over 60% hp like the general mod. Its definitely not as good at burst damage as the jaws but that will always be the case with front loaded vs back loaded damage. Depending on the situation a gun with more sustain can be nice. The gun is definitely far from unusable.

The boom boom is not worth buying/using. Its TTK is 2-3 seconds, and takes a full second to ramp up its damage. Its unusable atm.

Person in my last server running it and fire shotgun and would triple everyone’s damage using kvd for range.
