    13:20 50kW DC chargers are in 2024 being installed as destination chargers. This 30kW can also be used in similar usecases.

    This summit is more on the development of the EV infrastructure, also for trucks (which is good). Interesting to see the cooling solutions for these new 'superchargers'. Efficiency in EVs and in charging solutions is all about achieving the right, stable temperature. So it seems.

    You should look into DC-DC chargers! When used with solar and home batteries you can get really good speeds and super high efficiency compared to multiple dc/ac con versions. This will be the future!

    I thought wireless charging will be the future. Is it too heavy on the vehicle to install the reciever? Last time you showed 75kw, how much current they can handle today?

    4k did look good but I would have prefered a higher frame rate. Interesting to see that the current limit through the connector goes up. Thanks for the vid.

    1.2MW would be getting close to ICE refill times if the battery could take that. Sure you could do some comparative math if you can find out how fast a fuel pump pumps.

    • @mxyz6888
      @mxyz6888 3 месяца назад +1

      I did it, so an average diesel pump can do about 80 liters of diesel per minute, which is 784 kWh per minute. However out of that only about 40% is used for actual locomotion, due to ice inefficiency, so an effective charge rate is about 313 kWh per minute. There are of course larger pumps, especially for trucks that can do 120-140 liters per minute

    • @geirmyrvagnes8718
      @geirmyrvagnes8718 3 месяца назад +1

      @@mxyz6888 So, effectively about 19 MW?

    • @vboost
      @vboost 3 месяца назад

      @@mxyz6888 I came up with some different numbers based purely on range. Google says a pump delivers 35 litres/pm, at 45mpg that is roughly 350 M/pm. A good EV gets 4M/kwh so would need 88KW/h to do 350 miles. This needs 5.3MW to deliver the same range in 1 minute. I'm sure there are a bunch of ways to work it and pumps vary a lot. I don't think parity is necessary, but it's interesting to work out.

    1.2 MW is crazy! Assuming you can hit that high consistently with no charge curves, you can get a 0-100% in 3-5 minutes (assuming you have a 78kw battery) I think we’re going to see that in our lifetime

    Nice to see all those EV charging units, now let’s hope they get implemented into countries that need them. Also had an idea, what about having a EV charging unit with built in coffee machine so you can have a coffee while waiting for your car to charge. 😂

    At the end of the video, there is also a Megawatt charger from ABB in the background... it uses MCS and was demonstrated in public on a MAN eTruck with 700 kW. I wonder if there are any trucks or prototypes, which could already handle charging above 1 MW. Doesn't the price go up too much, if the charging station is over-designed?
