    Will be interesting to see what happens if we get cricket in the Olympics. Probably have a temporary Great Britain team like they did for football. West Indies will have to have winner of domestic comp. Some matches can have international status but those won’t!

    • @NewWorldCricket
      @NewWorldCricket  Год назад +2

      T10 would be best suited for the Olympics. I think newer countries will gravitate toward the T20 and T10 versions of the game and then slowly start appreciating ODIs and Test matches.

      @@NewWorldCricketI disagree. We already have 3 official international formats of Cricket, so T20 being the shortest & every ICC member being allowed to play T20Is makes T20I the most suited format & all the matches will also be officially counted for points regarding ranking purpose.

      @@faaizahmed5773 Couldn't agree more. I can't understand why some countries seem to be pushing t10 as the new shortest format instead of just quietly playing it domestically. It's like ecb trying to push their idiotic 100 balls format to be the new shortest format, I remember reading that ecb also wanted it to be considered along with other formats under consideration for the Olympics. Similarly, I never had any problem with the 6s format but when it was being pushed to be the Olympic format I started hating it too.
      In short, we've 3 official international formats & T20I is the shortest & it should be enough. No need for a 4th or new shortest format.

    There's actually a demand for a separate Welsh Cricket team & this demand has also been made in the Welsh Assembly. But the overall support is small & ECB too wouldn't make it easy for Wales to have a separate team coz Glamorgan County Cricket Club is the only CCC from Wales with First Class status that plays in County Cricket. Although I don't mind Wales having their separate team like in Rugby & Football I'm happy that Ireland has a unified Cricket team. I think even Samoa should've a unified Cricket team with American Samoa.

    • @NewWorldCricket

      That would be really cool if Samoa did that. I was so surprised that American Samoa was actually part of West Indies cricket team.

    • @NikhileshSurve7428
      @NikhileshSurve7428 Год назад

      @@NewWorldCricket Actually it's the US Virgin Islands that is the member of the West Indies Cricket since they're all based in the Caribbean. American Samoa & Samoa both are in the Pacific but since they're geographically & culturally so close I think a combined Samoan Cricket team just like Ireland's is possible but there needs to some initiations from within for which I think there's a lack of interest in Samoan Cricket circles.

    • @sarban1653
      @sarban1653 10 месяцев назад

      I don't get why they can't keep Glamorgan CCC in English cricket if Wales goes its own way. It's not like they kicked Swansea or Cardiff out of English football over Wales having its own football team. But if they decide to kick out Glamorgan, so be it. Cricket is dead in Wales and they deserve their own national team.

    • @NikhileshSurve7428
      @NikhileshSurve7428 10 месяцев назад

      @@sarban1653 I agree & that is also argued by supporters of a separate Welsh National Cricket team. I think it's more about what ECB will allow to happen. Even if it's possible for Wales to have their separate Cricket team ECB won't make it easy for obvious reasons. One thing certainly will go against Wales is that they'll be forced to be an Associate nation struggling to get International Cricket from Test nations as is the truth for many top Associate nations including Scotland. May be if England & Wales Cricket Board is allowed to field 2 teams England as well as Wales things could be different but that's probably impossible.

    • @sarban1653
      @sarban1653 10 месяцев назад

      @@NikhileshSurve7428 Yeah, but Wales should still go forward with separating. If England wanna be a-holes and kick them out of the County Championship for it, so be it. It's not like Glamorgan CCC is a popular club in Wales that brings out spectators. The few Welsh players of Glamorgan CCC would just play for another county team. Or start a league of their own. Wales would of course start as an Associate, but cricket in Wales is popular enough and has enough talent for them to quickly rise to the level of the Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland in a couple of years. Being a top Associate would be a massively better position than being non-existent. Scotland used to play as part of England until 1992. If they had been separate from the beginning, maybe the sport would've been popular enough that Scotland would've been at the level of Pakistan or New Zealand. But still, Scotland made the right choice to separate from England in 1992 and are in a much better position now that they have their own team despite not being in the County Championship. Wales should do the same.

    FAI is football association of ireland whereas IFA is irish football association.The thing about cricket in ireland is that its fairly minor yes there has been tremendous growth but its still minor.Out of 32 traditional counties 26 in the rep 6 in NI probably only popular in about 4 of them so having 2 teams would make it difficult to compete.Half the Team do is normally from NI where though not huge more popular than it is the republic

    • @NewWorldCricket

      That's what I kinda figured. I wonder about a lot of things. Like, do Loyalist Northern Irish fans (for lack of a better term) feel bothered when the Reoublic of Ireland flag is shown to represent the team? Do they use a different national anthem like in rugby?

    • @gallowglass2630
      @gallowglass2630 Год назад +1

      @@NewWorldCricket to be honest if i attempted to do justice to your question i would be writing for days.Suffice to say the term loyalist is basically a hardline unionist usually working class no song or flag will satisfy them.However all though Irelands call was commisioned by the Rugby Union ,Field hockey ,cricket,rugby league even the irish strenght association as is the 4 province frlag though the design might be slightly different. One all ireland body doesn't use Irelands call or the 4 provinces flag,because its a primarily nationalist body both north and south and that is the Gaelic Athletic Association.
      where it really gets complicated is the olympics.Boxers from a loyalist background have won medals for ireland they stood under the tricolour and stood for the national anthem and did not mind as boxin.Don't know why is more of a working class sport .Probably its down to the boxing clubs they have one requirement and one requirement only can they box religion or politics is irrelevant.

      @@gallowglass2630 That's fascinating nonetheless. I do see that Ireland has much more popularity in Northern Ireland than compared to other sports. Regardless, I think it's great that Ireland plays as an entire island and not separate teams like in soccer football.

Its the clubs .Some clubs will miss out on european wide competitions because there will be less places,because if you have one national team you will also have one team.Not to mention all the officials who will lose their positions It should never have happened,but i can't see it changing .If their is political unification may be,but at the moment there is no incentive as qualifying for european competitions is often the difference between the club surviving or it going bankrupt.
