Another thing i noticed, when they showed this story board with all the names of important characters who play a part in FS like zavala, ikora, cayde, crow, the witness and savathun,there was also a redacted character with many notes under it and they knew what they where doing with including this shot of the board, because why would they internally redact a character. And i dont think its some raid/strike boss or some minion of the witness because 1. Only important names who play a huge part in the story where on thr board and 2. If its some minion of the witness like idk herald of finality it wouldnt really tell us much, so it is probably a character whos name, if we would know it, would give us huge story spoilers

I think how the whole witness using the light to make dread is back from Lightfall. Where Osiris says light is the physical realm and darkness is physic. Thinking witness uses the light for the body and uses darkness to then influence/corrupt the body

I thought that Tormentors were transformed cabal. I always viewed them as like homunculus/transformed forms of existing creatures. Maybe the Witness is using the Light to resurrect the Dread creatures and then testing with Darkness on them
What if somehow the witness used the light to give the dread umbral cores, that being how they can use stasis and strand in the pale heart, and why the previous tormenters only used void, maybe you need the light and dark to spawn or create an umbral core, I dont know how bungie's gonna explain that but im intrigued now
Okay I think the deal with Tormenters using void is that it's not a light or dark thing. Remember, not all instances of arc solar and void damage are light. Psions can create void energy with just psychic power for example. Nezarec was also heavily connected with void long before he had the light. When he's dying to Savathun he even mentions calling out to the void he commanded. Tormenters are heavily related to Nezarec somehow, so they share his void power. That's all.
yeah the dread being made using the light feels weird. I guess since the an aspect of the light is physicality, the witness used it to construct and shape new twisted enemies, in the same way that used it to shape the environment? It might not be that the light is required to make dread, only that it expedites it. Tormentors used to be rare. now in the pale heart the dread are swarming everywhere. the light might be the reason why.
I think we agree on most of the story resolutions and directions we want to see take place, however the one thing i disagree with would be the witness not being interested in us the pc, I've always been of the mind that it should be in order to give our character some importance in the story mostly cause im a crow hater but also because i think present us with the choice to be a disciple could be very interesting obviously we won't get an actual choice which would have been something id like to have seen, if things play out the way we want with the gardener and winnower being real then we know the witness is not a god and in that case saying we are a nothing to it is more a facade than anything else as we've already partially disrupted it's operations over the years taking out its key pieces on the board.
I've always preferred the idea that it has been trying to intice us since shadowkeep unlocking our potential to wield the darkness.
It may not yet have a clear plan but it knows having a guardian potentially lined up to help it could be a difference maker, especially us the pc with all the times we defied fate where others fell maybe it notices that we are special in comparison to other guardians, if jokers predictions are on track with the books he keeps referencing then us the pc is an eternal warrior almost like the will of universe who appears throughout time to stop ultimate threats etc...
Maybe the witness can see some of this, that "we need a god killer" line piques my interest

If the ending isn’t as good as Vanilla D2/ Forskasken/ WQ in terms of a balance of closing/ lining up whats next then a good campaign will be for nothing - we cannot have another abrupt whomp whomp that was cool wait another year now like Shadowkeep/ beyond light/ lightfall endings.
Saying that the Travelers sacrifices is a victim of retcon because of the new info in WQ is very narrow minded. You’re presented with new info and you can accept it, who says that wasn’t the plan from the start?
What I’m referencing is a video I made, where I showed how there was the original version of the Collapse, how WQ stated that Savvie made the Witness leave using tricks and illusions, but that she wasn’t THE reason Humanity survived, and how Lightfall changed that again by having her kill Nez and stealing the Veil. Keep in mind that Plunder had said something completely different about how Nezarec was lost.
My point is this. Savvie received a new role at the Collapse in LF from WQ, and while the WQ version played it safe, the LF version went over the line, and made her solely the reason for Humanity’s survival. She single-handedly stopped the Witness from getting what it wanted.
@@VenextronI can see what you are saying. The way I see it is the Traveler really stood no chance against the Witness and the Black Fleet. It’s only option until the Collapse was to run. Savathun ultimately made a play to aid the Traveler but not out of love or pity for us, just self interest. She despised the Witness.
I do think our best account of the events do come from her worm. According to him, the Witness turned its gaze on the Traveler, Savathun projected lies and the tides turned sending the Witness away. This is just a theory, but I kind of thought maybe the projected lies was the Witness thinking the Veil had been linked to the Traveler. It just waltzed right up and the Traveler attacked. Something Osiris said during Wish, that the Witness parried the light beam attack makes me think the Witness was familiar with this attack and was ready this time. Granted, the cutscene itself doesn’t really show a parry of any kind.
So I don’t think it’s as simple as the Traveler is the reason we survived or Savathun is the reason, both were instrumental in preventing the Witnesses initial victory. And it left the Traveler in a coma. (And quite possibly the Witness as well.) Ultimately I do hope we get to see the Witness’s failure during the first collapse play out in a cinematic. That small snippet of what I assume is the Ghosts being created gives me hope.
