My brother and I met Roy Rogers at his ranch in 1957, we met his dad and got to ride in Nellybell. We had our picture taken with Dusty Rogers (I had a crush on him). Roy was out by the barn, but he didn't have a shirt on, so no closeup pictures. It was the thrill of a lifetime for us!

Loved growing up with Roy and Dale westerns and singing, Roy was raised about 10 miles from my Mom and 3 months older so you bet he was # 1 at our house. What a wonderful couple who lived the good family values everyday. Love to see Dusty and his son keep up the family tradition, I think Dustin favors his Grandfather Roy very much. I have to laugh that Dusty came back to his father's home state of Ohio to find a wife. Thank you very much for this up load!

My mother was dying of congestive heart failure in January of 1998, I was living four hundred miles away... I drove through the night and got to my folks house at about four in the morning. My five sisters and my younger brother were already there ... I remember how tired I was that morning, I went in and saw my Mom in bed... she was so weak it was rough... I sat with her for a while... she knew that I was there ... I went in and went to bed... she had hung on through the whole previous day until all her kids were there.... then it was okay to go.... Sad day... my Dad lived to almost ninety years of age.... he’s gone too ... he and Roy Rogers kept me out of trouble.... respect....

I turned 70 today and all those programs were great because I was 5 and 6 years old. Now I listen to Gun Smoke on Antioch Old Time Radio. It's free on the internet and still holds my interest. They removed the static and the writing on Gun Smoke radio from 52 to 1961 is exceptional. Try it, you'll like it !!

Mother & Daddy took me to the coliseum in Indy to see him; told me they were taking me out to dinner, which we never did do, so I believed it, There we were in this huge place with an area far below where horses and riders soon greeted us~~ and the king of the cowboys was there. No TV yet, but I was in love. I even had Roy Rogers paper dolls. I got to shake hands with him~~he circled the entire place and shook every hand he could reach. A forever memory.

Dusty, thanks for letting me "borrow" your dad. If I hadn't had that TV show, to tune in every week, I'd be dead now, and you'd be able to read about it on google. My dad wanted to be a good guy, but couldn't overcome all the crap he had to deal with. And, he took it out on me and my mom (who turned down 32 marriage proposals, in December of '41. Foolishly, she picked my bio-dad.) But YOURS kept me from doing anything really stupid to "get even". Thanks and GOD BLESS!

Hi Dusty I had a lot of respect for your parents and family thanks to tv. I lived the life with all of you. I remember one time when your parent were still in Apple Valley I parked for moment. Telling my grand sons a little bit of a history lesson about the singing cowboy and to show them the home they lived in.all of you were in the driveway you started out to us asking us to leave but the kind of man Roy was called you back and said they are ok. I thank you for being protective of them. You had no idia who I was or doing there.

I use to go to the Saturday Matinees, just to watch Roy Roger's and Dale Evan. The dates was 1950's. Eugene, Oregon. Cost 25 cent to see the movies.

Gun Smoke on the radio changed westerns. Gun Smoke was adult radio. People gots killed, not just wounded like on Roy Rogers or Hoppalong. Innocent people got lynched. Women were bar sluts, instead of being the school marm. Things started getting a harder edge in the 50's and by the 60's the gentleman cowboy had left with Howdy Doody and by the 70's THE WILD BUNCH had raised the bar, too far.

Does "Dusty/Roy JR" give appreciation to his natural Mother?. My Mother said at the time of her death there was much publicity about Roy Roger SR's affair with Dale while "Dustys" Mother was dying. My Mother was living in CA at the time.
