Hello friends! I'm decorating my living room for Christmas so I hope you'll join me as I take a walk through the woods for inspiration then try to create an old fashioned Christmas for my own family. Hi friends!! Come along as I try to recreate a vintage Christmas in the living room!! I'm using some special dolls my mother made, and I'm making this room a cozy retreat for this season. Really stunning! I have a very old stone cottage in Wales and have decorated it as it would have been in Victorian times. I particularly enjoy decorating it traditionally for Christmas

My grandparents, having lived through the depression, never threw anything away. We always carefully collected the tree tinsel from each Christmas and stored in a brown paper bag to use each year again. It was very fragile and wrinkled, but lovely! I miss that so much.

Your living room and tree decor looks superb but what blew me away was the Christmas Nativity scene i remember it like yesterday when my grandmother took me into Woolworths Manchester UK and bought it for the family in the early sixties i cant remember when i saw it last, it brought back so many wonderful memories of Christmas past. Lovely decor and beautiful music. Many of the tree decorations are very familiar to me. My Granny made fans, too. I have the same Nativity, only it’s smaller and Iuse the icicles. The c7s put out heat- a bonus. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my goodness, my mom and my sister and I made a bunch of those satin covered balls with the sequins yes in the 70's.
Oh wow, mother made a few but found this big box on eBay that someone had made☺️

Yes it is great for ambience, and obviously we do not use it for heat but it is fully operational with a new wick and everything☺️

As usual I am enchanted with your warm and glowing living room. It takes me back to my beloved grandma's home. And my childhood home too. For I have many ornaments and the Angel tree topper From those ago days. My mom carried on the traditions then myself. We always had grandma's cardboard village houses with the tiny homemade picket fence too. My uncle's dad made the creche that held our nativity set. Each year I can relive those wonderful days as I decorate, just as you do. Our decor and taste for our past is so similar and I anxiously await each of your videos and blog post. Watching this and listening to the music I can feel myself "come down" from the busy (angry) world outside, makes me emotional for many reasons. I literally found the cape for maybe $2.50 at Salvation Army thrift store here this fall, and had to have it☺️ It was in perfect condition, and I knew it would be great to grab when I walk out the door to my parents’ house when it’s cold, etc. ☺️

Absolutely gorgeous, love all the vintage treasures.....it reminds me of my childhood....I am 66. Those C7 bulbs are the best for a true vintage look. There are warm LED lights on market that give that warm glow. Anyway...thanks for sharing....you made my day ❤️🎄oh. Almost forgot, LOVE the tinsel too ❤️

I have a 1910 farmhouse. I change out decor for Christmas plus garland but no trees. My stuffed dolls that sit in a wooden rocker are Angels. Seems homier without tree.

Thank you! I made those in the 1980s by just folding the wrapping paper in an accordian shape then using ribbons at the bottom:-)

The blue glow...It really hurts my eyes . I've been lucky that my older lights are still in good condition.
I agree with that 100% Georgia! And I will probably just use my old ones next year and not leave it on as much. And the blinking most people cannot notice but it does bother me as well☺️☺️
Yes the blinking lights remind me of Las Vegas...hardly a Christmas memory! Just a constant soft glow like an old oil lamp

Obviously you don’t have pets. Would love to bring in greenery but too many toxic greens for cats
I have an outdoor cat who comes inside when he wants, and not only does he not bother anything inside the house, he is certainly more exposed to live evergreens outside than a few branches inside. You could certainly get faux greenery.
