- 🎄Hello 🎄and thank you for joining in on my little garden story,
I am decorating my porch with items I collected from my garden. Also have you ever heard of barge board? That is the decorative element I put around my porch. I sourced it from Terrain. Have you ever made cinnamon buns with potatoes? I made mine with the Yukon Gold potatoes I grew. Please join my Christmas Tea as I invite my niece Jenny to come over with her girls. I hope you get a chance to make the buns for your Christmas table. They are an old fashioned delicious treat.

🎄IN THE KITCHEN🎄
Cinnamon Buns
DOUGH
1 cup lukewarm milk 110" degrees
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2/3 cup mashed potatoes
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons melted butter
1 egg
3 1/2 cup flour plus more for dusting
1/4 cup milk
1 Tablespoon maple syrup
FILLING
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup almond meal
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup soft butter
ICING
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoon melted butter
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
-Place warm milk in mixing bowl and add yeast and stir. Let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
-Add potatoes, sugar, salt, butter, egg and flour to yeast mixture. Mix well on low and then knead in mixer with dough hook about 10 minutes. Transfer to a lightly floured surface: knead into a ball.Transfer to an oiled bowl and cover. Let rise 1 hour.
-In medium bowl, stir together brown sugar, almond meal, and cinnamon and set aside.
-Roll dough to a 14 x 18 rectangle. Spread with soft butter and brown sugar mixture.
-Gently roll up and cut into 12 buns. Place each bun into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- Heat oven to 350' and then bake buns for 10 minutes. Meanwhile mix 1/4 cup milk and the syrup in a small bowl. After the buns have baked for 10 minutes pour milk mix over the buns and then bake 20-25 minutes until buns are golden.
-While buns are baking mix together the icing ingredients. Top warm rolls with icing.

LOL! I planted those potatoes and never hilled them once or weeded them all summer long. So some of the potatoes were sticking out of the ground and got too much light. I literally had to mow down the weeds to find the potatoes. Yes everyone; please note green potatoes are not good to eat. Anyway we enjoyed the good ones and I hope to have NO green potatoes next year. 🙏🏼🌱
I loved everything about this video from start to finish! The wreath and garlands were fabulous. Was so delightful to watch you plant the potatoes and prepare the wonderful rolls for the tea. Goodnight Gwen, As you know I just discovered your channel in January 2024. Also, as you know, I have watched the first 17 of your videos 3 times. I mentioned to you before that I think this is one of the VERY best gardening channels out there. I like the fact that you do not speak much, as there is no need for your personal life to be on display. I have seen where you and I are truly kindred spirits in so much of what you do. (except for cooking😅). Would you believe it that the white linen blouse that you are wearing in episode 16, I have one just like it, that I bought about 3 years ago. Your videos are so calm and refreshing and I enjoy them thoroughly. I can't wait for spring to come for me to start working in my garden.

I’ve never known milk in the teapot with the tea though…here in the uk we make the tea in the pot then when it’s brewed we then add the milk xx
Hello, so excited to have a comment from the UK! ❤️🇬🇧❤️ in the States we call the tea with milk Chia tea. I think it is inspired by the tea they make in India where you heat milk, tea, sugar and spices.

Thank you for the greetings! The first green is Thuja “Green Giant Arborvitae” if you notice in my videos beside my green garden shed I often show a row of tall evergreens. Those are the arborvitae and they are so big I am able to clip away at Christmas time. I really love these trees and would recommend them if you have the space as they do get big as their name suggests. The only other drawback is that deer do like to munch on them but lucky for me I don’t have to much of a problem with deer. Thanks watching and I hope to hear from you again sometime. 🌱🪴🌱
