Hey mate... You could make a week's long video about any Cumbrian or Lancashire railway as far as I'm concerned. Never mind showbiz.!🤣!. The people who are watching your videos, want all the information, in a nice slow, fully explained manner. Great video. Onto part 2..... LOVE THE VIDS KEEP'EM COMING RICH. Kendal.🥰🥰🥰.
Thank you very much! I try my best telling most of the information ℹ️ but I don’t go into great depth because otherwise will go bit boring for the audience. Because it’s all done in entertainment fashion just like you’d watch on TV.
Welcome to the Thomas Edward channel! Lovely to have you on board there’s so much on channel with railway history you’ll hopefully like. but do be warned there’s bit of everything because I’m very much into showbiz/cars. But everyone on this channel dose not matter where they found me they seem to all watch every single video and enjoy!
Great video, I'm looking forward to the others. My uncle was a signalman at Morecambe (many years ago). There was a large signalbox just at the end of the old Prom Station platforms. He also worked Heysham Harbour and Hest Bank. I used to visit him occasionally and he would let me operate the signals and telegraph - under his supervision, of course, and completely against the rules! Stone Jetty café used to be really good, sad to see it derelict. Hopefully this was just made out of season.
Cracking vid, i did'nt know they used to bring big ships to dock in morecambe. Always the same with estuarys, they silt up and the docks end up moving further round the coast to deeper waters. Nice one on getting the big 100 subscribers.
Morning TE you’re an absolute star ⭐️ doing these videos 😊Love the local railway history especially now we’ve moved to Barton off the A6 North if Preston 😄 And we’ve got the West Coast main line in our back garden 🪴 😂
Hello Thomas Just found this video while trawling the net looking for info about signalling around the Lancaster and Morecambe lines around the 50 and 60's I have been creating a simulation of the steam lines around the Lancaster area for several years now and the signalling is the last item I need to finish and publish. Though it might interest you. I have lived in Morecambe for 83 years and remember the old days when it was really alive.
Thanks for this excellent video. I love Morecambe, lived there for a time and also I'm a steam railway enthususiast. I also remember the Furness no 3 loco at the national railway museum. I've a feeling it might still be there. Your research is very thorough and interesting. I had no idea about Northumberland Street station. Fascinating.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Northumberland Street is fascinating station indeed. Stay tuned because "Lost Railways of Morecambe Part 4" is coming out soon.
Thank you so much for kind words 😊 I do love making these videos for people of are local landmarks/lost history we walk past everyday without care in the world of what we walking over/past. Stay tuned for "Lost Railways of Morecambe Part 4"
Glad you enjoyed it! My first two Goals with every Video I film I stop make them entertaining but interesting that you come away from it learning something new!. Did you watch rest my Morecambe Railway History series?
@@ThomasEdward Have watched two of your Morecambe series but will watch the rest. When a student at Leeds Uni back in the 70s used to regularly catch the train from Leeds to Morecambe Promenade station on a Friday evening and back on a Sunday evening. The current Morecambe station is functional but not a patch on the original. Keep up the good work! Enjoyed your vlog on the flooding at Grange ... we dined at the café on Windermere road only about a month ago but thankfully no flooding then!
Thanks for the video. As some one who lives here I never knew about the Northumberland station or even what it looked like. Your right about the gas storage and there are some pictures out there on the Facebook groups which you might like to look at. Lastly see if you can find a copy of The Pioneer Line which covered The Electric Train and what is now the cycle track. Looing forward to pt2
Yeah well you know what say learn something new everyday day eh? thinking of doing Gas works will be one video on it's own was looking at lines what went into it on rail maps online. Definitely going find the book you suggest we do have lot local railway books in house but that's one what needs adding get more information for the electric history I've got piece history to do with electric line what I want to include in the video what I've been told about for years. watch this space plenty of videos coming soon! Thank you for your comment really appreciate talking to like minded local people.
Love any history of Morecambe great information on the Video. When we came in the 60's and 70's we stayed a lot on Sandylands Promenade. Sad to see the old Grovenor Hotel has gone. Is the Battery still open at the start of Sandylands. Thanks again for your videos only have 2 left to watch now. Take Care and stay safe
Battery is long shut but it's getting turned into posh flats on top of it from what I can work out. all my family uses go in there years ago. Thank you for watching TE channel what videos you got left to go?
Hi TE I’ve just watched you on Euston brought back memories lived there 40 yrs ago. We’re you was stood if you crossed rd going towards shopping center, little rd going down then to left I sure the was a railway box I use to just go kick ball against wall. And I from just outta Bradford. Never knew it called Bradford morecambe as a pun! You seem passionate with finding and knowing we’re stations we’re and how change. When you was back of pleasureland that brought memories too of crystal T’s. Is heysham hi still standing?
Yes Pacers have been gone from Morecambe for about a Year Now. Also I have never seen anything using the run around loop at Morecambe. It was because Virgin Trains used to run class 47s on Cross Country Services down that line. One per day to Birmingham, and 47s had to run around the Mk2s because Virgin didn't top and tail. But those services ceased in 2002 but never carried on when the Voyagers came into service. In addition, I would love a narrow guage line on the pier. I would come and volunteer there bieng a local 😁😁😁😂😂😂 It would make a great profit in the summer, especially if we get the Eden Project in a few years 👍 Also It was a class 66 that brought the Tour into Morecambe and the Deltic lead it out back to Heysham
Yeah pacer part I saw was last ones to leave but we live in hope 😊 maybe railtour with them soon! That’s interesting class 47s on cross country just asked my uncle because he was on railway see if he remembers that. Oh yeah oways thought narrow gauge be just right for stone jetty I’m more into narrow gauge than standard because you can achieve some wonderful lines on 15” or even up to 2 foot anything smaller than 15 isn’t that good for big layout. Ah so was class 66 “shed” I was only 14 back then probably why couldn’t Quite remember I do remember guards at heysham were not happy because loads rail enthusiasts everywhere 🤣🤣 I do have some photos somewhere but couldn’t find them ready for this video. Appreciate your comment and information really nice of you! And keep your eyes pealed for “Lost Railways Of Morecambe part 2”
Eden project next to come guys. I live here not born and bred but I'd never move bk to my own home town pple slate the town but the view from the prom on a clear day is amazing I love the place. 😉😊
Yeah! Definitely agree with you indeed there. People slate it because they think it has problems but tbh all towns have same problems what’s new we like it that all what matters. Have you watched my other Morecambe videos?
another interesting video, slightly off topic but do you know if the nuclear flask train from heysham pulls right into the platform or the siding at the station
Showbiz industry standard Canon 80D was originally brought for my photography @modellandroversoffroad Instagram page but found out it was more suited to my videos linked up with my Rode Mic.And cheap kit lens when I do photography with it I put more expensive lens on it.
well my presenting and editing has obviously worked I make theses videos with showbiz mind want people get hooked into watching and with laugh here and there but main thing you learn something. One day get on TV that's the plan 😉
Hahah knew someone would point that mistake adventurly time I exported and uploaded was too late! was slip of the tongue on voice over for some reason was thinking of barrow in my head at the time! Hope you enjoyed the video though oways nice hear the positive and negativity from the folk
