Your videos are so great...they are so helpful. Could you do more grammar vids? Like the most complicated and weird aspects? And other weird aspects? I guess that would be quite interesting
@@ShuoshuoChinese ah ok...well I have around only HSK 4 and thought there are more crazy ones in the later HSKs. But the ones you mentioned are topic in the earlier HSKs.
I never get people lecturing other people about their weight - you are gorgeous, always. And whether you want to lose or gain weight or simply stay gorgeous, it's none of our business. Keep up the amazing work, I love all of your videos!! You really know how to explain things properly, in a fun and easy way. Thank you so much for all your effort!!
2nd comment because it has nothing to do with the first one. Did you know that resultative complements also existed in French? In fact, that's the way we negate. The negation in French is ne...pas, but we generally skip the ne. It means not/don't ... step. This was meant specifically for walking: "I walk no step", but it was extended to all verbs eventually. In other words, in French, when you don't do sth, you do sth (no) step. And it's really a resultative complement. A few other examples do exist for negation in some cases too.
Not only did I watch the video to the end. but, I rewind it to see it two more times and then downloaded it. and still watched the RUclips version because it makes me feel like I'm not alone.
"too technical" better than "too formal" >) Glad to see you taking on stuff like this! You can tie this technical stuff into stuff youve already taught quite well, which helps students link their textbook knowledge to your lessons.
As a native Mandarin speaker, I found Shuo’s video really helpful in building the bridge between English and Mandarin. Plus Shuo is way much better than my Chinese teacher, this video definitely help me understand why I speak Chinese in some patterns.
Thank you so much for this! Most grammar I've been able to figure out through TV immersion, extensive reading, and Chinese Grammar Wiki. But the individual meanings of 着, etc, have been giving me a lot of trouble. Finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel! 上 (not 上去 or 上來 )still seems pretty random as a compliment when it has no relation to direction.
At times, certain dictionaries discuss these (fortunately they exist but there are far too few) Oxford Chinese Desk Dictionary msny editors, Oxford Univrrsity directional complement verbs’ EXTENDED (to say the least) meanings. Some seem literal, others definitely not, They slightly resemble English phrasai verbs. Exsmple literal zhanqilai to stand up BUT zuzhiqilai to get organized not organize up. Next dictionary reference soon)
说老师, 我非常喜欢你的视频。 解释得很清楚。 中文语法最可怕的一部分就是趋向补语。虽然好像英文的 (come)____here/ (go_____there) 但是词序比较复杂, 我每次看到这些语法,马上就哭起来。Anyway, thank you so much for your excellent videos, I think you're a great teacher.
I finished the video, also this was probably the single most useful explicit grammar explanation I've gotten so far while learning Chinese. It answered all these subtle things I'd been finding confusing for a while!
I would like to compliment )))) you on your excellent presentation of resultative complements )))) Especially when you added Le to the end of the verb + result, I guess that is the change of state Le. I have watched your videos on Le but feel I need to revisit them. Through videos like yours Shuo, I hope that I am getting a much better understanding now, although some usages of words make my mind boggle, for example, 'Look what is written' has 'nali' which I always understood to be 'thereabouts' and finishing with Xie de shenme, presumably this mean 'write of what' hmmmm, not so sure, I know that this use of De binds two things together, but one is a verb, so maybe this is a verbal phrase? I don't know. But FANTASTICO Shuo, thanks again.
Hello, your videos are really helpful, could you do videos about the figurative meanings of complements of directions? It's gonna be great! Thanks for your video
Great video! I'm still a little confused though as to why 下去 is required in some situations. For instance, in your example sentence 我一定要坚持跑下去, it seems at first glance like 坚持 already conveys the meaning of "keep" or "persevere" running, so why is 下去 necessary? It's this kind of thing that I can read fine but that makes me despair of ever being able to speak correctly, because I'm worried that I'll miss out a 下去 etc. or add one where it isn't required. Can you give any guidance? Thanks!
Hi! Can i request a video about chinese poetry?i really really love chinese historical cdramas and i wish to talk about it with my favorite chinese teacher☺
I found you recently and I'm still at the beginning of my adventure with Chinese, but I thank you for such a great content. I hope I will be able to speak Chinese fluently one day. And heart for you, because you asked :) ❤️

A small challenge for this video: 🙋 Find out how many times I said the phrase "resultative complement" in this video :PPPP
...Saying "resultative compliment", or a combination of saying and using in examples?🤔
I counted 16 (见、到、完、懂、错、出来、对、着、住、下去、起来、干净、在(这里)、给(我)、到去、清楚)
太多了!我数不了😄

I must say: your pronunciation of the 't' and 'l' sounds in "resultative" is just beautiful! More perfect than some native English speakers.
Also: ❤️ I watched all the way through... And now I will watch again because it is a lot of information and needs to be reviewed thoroughly!
