    ===========
    Hi, welcome to ShuoshuoChinese 说说中文; my name is Shuo, I’m a native Chinese teacher living in Bangkok, Thailand, I’ve been teaching Chinese as a foreign language for seven years and I’m also a language learner.
    In this channel, I will upload a weekly video, in which I talk about Chinese vocabulary, Chinese grammar, Chinese culture, Chinese stories with pinyin and the English translation for listening practice.
    With my channel, you can easily start to learn and understand complicated Chinese grammar, sentence structure, and differences/nuances between similar Chinese words.
    If you are a Chinese beginner, I’m planning to upload videos about what Chinese language is, how it differs from English, Chinese pronunciations, Chinese characters and Chinese stroke sequences and a mini Chinese course, (10 minutes per day), which can help you learn quickly and easily. Don’t miss it!
    So, subscribe to my channel and start your Chinese learning journey!

    I learned 多谢 and 不好意思 from a drama so I’m glad to hear that people actually say them irl haha
    I’m just sometimes afraid when learning from TV that I’ll accidentally pick up a phrase that will make me sound like a drama character lol

    Besides 抱歉 there is also 道歉. I think 道歉 is a verb (“apologize”) usually used with 向[+person] (“to"+person) in a more formal or serious situation.
    For example:
    我必须向邻居道歉因为我的狗咬了她的猫
    ("I have to apologize to my neighbour because my dog bit her cat")

    You bump into someone.

    You hit someone with your bicycle or scooter.
    "對不起"
    You hit someone with your car and come face to face with the next of kin.

    You are a great teacher. Thank you! The Chinese book I am learning from right now is called 疯狂英语 and the old version I have was given to me by a friend. It is full of hilariously slightly off translations, but one phrase that really puzzled me today was "Better is it that you should not now, than that you should now and not pay" 与其许愿而不兑现, 还不如不许愿。The Chinese side appears to be saying something to the effect of it is better to promise something and not to deliver, than to lose face by not promising something?
