Besides 抱歉 there is also 道歉. I think 道歉 is a verb (“apologize”) usually used with 向[+person] (“to"+person) in a more formal or serious situation. For example: 我必须向邻居道歉因为我的狗咬了她的猫 ("I have to apologize to my neighbour because my dog bit her cat")

It is full of hilariously slightly off translations, but one phrase that really puzzled me today was "Better is it that you should not now, than that you should now and not pay" 与其许愿而不兑现， 还不如不许愿。The Chinese side appears to be saying something to the effect of it is better to promise something and not to deliver, than to lose face by not promising something?

should be okay if it is a modern one and not a historical one :D that could be weird picking up words and sentences from there xD
You just have to be careful with historical dramas. It would be the same as learning English from Lord of the Rings etc./larping talk.
