This song is powerful. I wish this song and others like it were so strong that they would drill it into the heads of all government officials the world over and stop this unnecessary madness. As someone who loves history and know the history. It does make sense that System of a Down feels these emotions. With them having roots in Armenia, a nation that has two dictatorships around them in Russia and Turkey. Turkey who during the first world war did the Armenian genocide, and now arm Azerbaijan. And Russia who enforce themselves of others, including Georgia where they forcefully hold land that is not Russian. ( Georgia being the nation just to the north of them ) Iran is just south. Azerbaijan being the part they fight against these days because of bad geopolitics of the past, so the two nations have enclaves in each other. and have different religion ( like so many times religion is the cause of tension, if only people would understand to divide religion and faith from each other. Faith does not need religion, but religion needs faith to survive. Religion is made by men for men to control men, and have nothing to do with faith. it just latch onto faith as a parricide to use it for its own gain ). This also shows in who backs them in what is almost a proxy war. And this can only leave tension that in periods give way to fighting, and sometime all out war. Armenia have not really known peace or safety the last 100 years. a nation always in danger and conflict. And that must leave a mark on people who grow up in it.

What breaks my heart is that this band couldn't get on the same page and succumbed to "creative differences." They left us with some great music but there could have been so much more. Maybe we can hope for a 30th anniversary reunion box set and one last world tour.

System of a Down as a band are amazing. But it would also be worth your while to listen to Serj Tankian as a solo artist, he has excellent songs; I would recommend Empty Wall and Harakiri for a video reaction.
This band was responsible for getting me into music as a kid and realizing that music could be amazing instead of all the manufactured fake music I was listening to as a kid. Their albums Hypnotize and Mesmerize are their best and worth listening to. Sadly they broke up in the late 2000's and only got back together to do this song and another due to the Armenian killings that were going on recently.
Recomend this music Kanonenfieber - Stop The War I recommend this band because it is a Black Metal band in which the members dress up as soldiers of the 1st world war, and this track was specially made about the war that is happening in Ukraine and the great resistance and at the same time the support in which everyone in the world has given to Ukrainian refugees, as well as System Of A Down which the song portrays about the war that took place in Armenia which is the band's home country, in my opinion the song portrays very well what this existing in the world these days
