In order to ensure a safe and comfortable recovery, patients should adhere to the following instructions after their cataract replacement lens surgery at Milan Eye Center
    • Resume a regular diet as tolerated.
    • Have another adult present to assist with moving around through the rest of the day following the procedure.
    • Increase activity the day after the procdure only after consulting with your doctor.
    • Do not drive or operate dangerous equipment fo 24 hours after the proceudre or while taking pain medication.
    • Do not bump or rub the eye.
    • Wear the eye shiled at all times until your follow up appointment is scheduled.
    • Remove the shield only to instill your scheduled drops.
    • Wear the eye shiled while sleeping for one week after the procedure.
    • Do not bend at the waist with the head below the waist for at least two weeks after surgery.
    • Use all postoperative prescription eye dops and ointments exactly as directed.
    • Resume all normal medication regimens as directed by your doctor.
    • Keep all follow up appointments.
    After the surgery
    • Patient can expect blurry vision to clear with the next few days.
    • New glasses can be obtained when your vision has stabilized after 4-6 weeks
    • Minor discomfort is normal
    • The treated eye may feel scratchy and watery once the numbness wears off
    • Any discomfort should improve within a few days
    • Tylenol or Advil should be adequate for any discomfort
You are allowed to use your eye for visual tasks including reading, watching television, or playing cards. These activities will not harm or affect the eye in anyway. Patients may also walk, climb stairs, cook, do light household chores.
Any strenuous activity should not be done for two weeks after surgery. Finally, patients should call their doctor at Milan Eye Center if they have any questions or experience any:
    • Excessive pain that is unaffected by Tylenol
    • Increasing redness or soreness of the eye
    • Flashes of light that persist
    • A veil coming over your vision
    • Grey or blackened vision
    • Fever over 101 degrees
    • Persistent nausea or vomiting.
Milan Eye Center believe all patients can have a successful cataract replacement surgery by staying informed about what to do before, during and after cataract surgery.

Some if not most of the instructions that the young lady said are similar to what my doctor instructed me to do. i am still recovering from my surgery and take three types of eye drops a day. One is once a day another is three times a day and the third twice a day. I also take a eye drop prescription at bedtime due to Glaucoma. One problem I suffered from post op was PAINFUL HEADACHES that Tylenol did not help. In hindsight I should have contacted my doctor but toughed it out. The following day I saw my doctor for a follow up and told him of my discomfort. And I am seeing him once a week for follow ups because excess pressure in the eye was the reason I had the headaches. I see much better, colors are brighter and the world is clearer. Good luck to all that have this surgery.

I have a pretty severe cataract I have to have taken care of. the eye doctor I seen said I need to see a surgeon to take care of it. that I would probably within 6 months to a year not be able to see out of my right eye. She said there was two types of cataracts and that I had the worst type. Its about to cover lens. Its right above it now. My question for you guys is that you talk about no heavy lifting after this is done. At least for a while. I am a bilateral leg amputee. I'm above knee on the left side, and I have only a hip on the right side. So when I transfer I have to pick my self up with my arms to move myself from chair to wheelchair call a chair to toilet etcetera. I'm a heavily muscled guy from using my arms as my legs and arms my whole life, and I weigh about 212 lb. So I will have to pick that up to move myself to go to bed or whatever. Am I going to be safe having this procedure done with the way I have to transfer to get around?

A day or so after my cataract surgery I suddenly got a fairly significant floater.
It appears to be attached towards the top (of my vision). My cataracts was not severe, so this floater was not due to me being able to suddenly see.
The floater appeared a day or two after my surgery.
It swings across my vision in the opposite direction of my eye movement - when I look to the left, it swings to the right, when I look to the right it swings to the left.
It 'swings' because it appears to be attached at the top, so it swings like a pendulum. It is not free floating, does not rotate, and does not float around. Its position
is stable. If the image on the retina is an inverse, maybe this floater is attached at the bottom, in reality, and moves more like a windshield wiper?
This floater appears clear to me...thick and clear, not thin and dark. Kind of looks like leaves. It is at the center of my vision.
I have Drusen, which doesn't appear to affect my vision yet.
When I called my surgeon about it, she minimized it, said I would just have to live with it.
It has been 5-7 years or so and is still there, although I notice it less.
During my regular eye exam today, the doctor didn't seem to know anything about it (this is someone different, not the person who did the surgery).
Can you point me toward more information as to what this might be?
Could this be material not cleaned out of the capsule or material that came away from the sides after the procedure?

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago but still my vision is foggy. During the procedure, my doctor injected an anesthesia near my eyes and after that he applied pressure and was pushing my eye for about 5 minute. He said the reason he did that is to numb the eye. Was that normal?

    • @tusharsharma1299
      @tusharsharma1299 2 года назад

yes that is called a peribulbar anesthesia/block. the pressure he applied was to reduce the intra ocular pressure and distribute the anesthetic in the orbital spaces. Your fogggy vision isnt because of the block, but magybe because of the residual refractive error, which might improve with the glasses

Good question. I don't think so since it's a deterioration of the lense itself. However, I've heard some people clear the lense using castor oil drops. You might do some online research on that. Those who get results are ones with beginning cataracts.

your vision without glasses after cataract surgery is dependent on the strength of the intraocular lens implant that your surgeon placed inside your eye. It is not possible to have both good near vision and good far vision in the same eye using a standard strength lens; one must choose either one distance or the other. Newer lenses MAY provide good vision at both near and far distances however the technology is far from perfect and many people are very unhappy with their vision for BOTH near and far when they have these "multifocal lens implants". Use of multifocal implants is largely market driven since the manufacturers may receive $900 for a single multifocal lens while they only receive $60 for the standard lens. Being able to charge 15X as much for the so-called "premium lens" influences their advertising position. The profit motive may influence what they tell you about what can go wrong with multifocals. Same for the surgeon who removes your cataract who may stands to make an additional $2500 per case, (rather than $600 per case for standard lens). Caveat emptor.

    • @cassandracromwell3360
      @cassandracromwell3360 7 лет назад +2

Good answer. I wasn't even given the choice. Which speaks well of the integrity of my surgeon. I've always had good near vision so I chose to have that replaced and still wear glasses for driving, etc. I LOVE my new eyes :o) Waited much too long to do it. It's not a walk in the park like some say but as surgeries go it's probably the best to have to have.
